  1. 2 week liquid diet, then 24 hours prior to surgery only clear liquid. That was it. No surprises in your stomach when they cut Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  2. You may find plain Water difficult to drink. I know it sounds crazy but many will attest. I did have to flavor mine with crystal light or snapple. I also used premiere Protein chocolate drinks. Sip your drinks but do this pretty constantly to get it all in. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  3. If I had a sore throat I'd would stick to Soups and add GENEPRO powder to them. Tylenol cold or Tylenol flu may help. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  4. According to my NUT you only need the multi. Some use extra supplements. You can put it on overnight and or multiple at the same time. Or you c as n hide it where the sun doesn't shine. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  5. ,I'm from Miami and currently on a Xmas market vacation thru Germany, Austria, Czech rep., and Hungary and it's so cold, freezing, I'm an ice cube. Sure I'm not use to this, nor having fat to insulate me. But even layering up, after 2 hours (mostly we are 4-6 hours walking), my shoulder feel sharp knife stabbing pain. I assume, at 63, it's arthritis I must have as it dissapates once I'm back inside. Guess this will be my last winter vacation. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  6. Follow your doctors orders and walk. Mine was very mild. Some surgeons can get most of the sir out. I has to wait a bit to get unhook from monitors but walked a lot in the halls and honestly I was expecting far worse. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  7. My doctors office called me, but within two days I received a letter from BCBS informing me of the approval. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  8. I'm 16 weeks post op, will be 63 in January. I'm down about 60 lbs since june. I did experience that stall at 3 weeks, but since the weight is just melting off. I've only got about 30 lbs left to goal. I do not go to the gym but do walk and bike but not excessively. I wasn't on any meds so cannot comment on that. I'm not crazy about excess skin but will just learn to live with it at my age. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  9. Do everything your surgeon tells you to do. It's your job to get in your Protein and Water. You will have less to no complications once you master your intake requirements. Remember sip, sip, sip your Protein drinks and water. You may have to add flavor to your water in order to get it down. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  10. I just hot back from my 4 hour tour. Lots of steps upward and cobblestone paths down. I think the down was more painful as it was steep. But gorgeous however zero degrees celcius. I will never, repeat never take a winter vacation again. My kids were thrilled I made it through. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  11. Take it slow when trying new things. Mentally know what you can eat and sits well in order to get your required Protein in. Think of it as your job to progress and don't rely too much on shakes. I did find myself eating the same similar meals for a good month, but I was also starting back to work and doing more socializing. Planning is the key to success. 12. Coffee was probably too hot. Let it cool a bit. That does happen if it's too hot. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  13. I'm 3 1/2 months out. 60 lbs down. Doing well, never sick, on top of Vitamins, good blood work. I travel a lot with work and for pleasure. I'll be 63 in January and can't say I exercise a lot. I did increase walking and bike riding but not excessively. Fast forward to arriving in Europe 6 days ago with my adult children for four countries Christmas market and general tours. After 5 days walking Munich, hiking up numerous castles I can barely touch my calves without grinding my teeth in pain. They even hurt to lie flat on my back because my calves hurt so much. We just arrive in Prague today. Tomorrow we have a four hour private walking tour. Should I persirvere or pass. I have no idea if I can do real damage if I push myself or if I'm just not use to using these muscle groups. I stir have 2 weeks to go. I'm just not knowledgeable about these things. 14. I start my day with a scoop of Gene pro every morning. For hot food such as coffee, put it in the bottom of the cup, pour in coffee and stir with a fork Cold food put on top and stir in. Nothing better than k owing you started your day with 30 grams of Protein and 8 ounces if liquid before I'm even out of my PJs. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  15. It's the 3 week stall, just a reality, learn to live with it, but stay on program. Mine lasted about 8 or 9 days, I didn't lose an ounce e. Then it started up again and has been steady. But you already know about, so why are you venting. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  16. I purposely booked a flight to Europe on Thanksgiving eve, landing thanksgiving day to avoid any temptation. Although hitting up 5 Munich Christmas markets last night was quite the challenge for a foodie lover. I was up for the challenge and did not succumb to temptation, not one bite. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  17. I tried Enlightened broad Beans crisp, garlic and onion. Not bad for that crispy need. I really could only eat about 1/3 to a 1/2 at one time. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  18. eggs are so soft . No need to blend. Just some pam spray on the pan and cook them up as you wish. Still practice chewing and small bites. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  19. Use multi and b12. Labs were good. They are great as I gag on Vitamin pills. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  20. Yes all you need is the muti. I overbought on Vitamins as other things were listed in my handbook. Ugh. I had also bought the vit b12 for energy and use that although my nut said the multi was sufficient. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  21. Nickisleeve, it is serious surgery but for the most part sade and very common. Just research your surgeon that's he or she is board certified. Read reviews. My surgeon didn't have a lot of reviews, but he is chief of the department and known to fix others mistakes. I had the sleeve and gallbladder removed in about 30 minutes. His staff and residents think he's a God. Again with the right surgeon it's very safe Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  22. You should not be counting calories at all. I was only allowed Protein, no veggies, no carbs, no fruit. But some can. Go with your surgeons directions. Mine 60 to 80 protein and at least 64 ounces of liquids. 2 weeks out, you will likely get neither but this is what you need to aim for, especially the Water. And at 2 weeks you should start your Vitamins. It's your JOB to get in that water to avoid landing back in the hospital for an IV. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  23. Patience. Sounds like everyone has this stall. Mine lasted about 2 weeks, then I resumed losing weight at a steady rate and I'm melting away. Try NOT to weigh yourself every day. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  24. Few studies yet but plenty of raw data showing that patients who get pre op education are half as likely to regain more than half their weight loss at five years. I can't believe that Medicare pays for WLS but not for comprehensive pre op preparation. Oh, and while I'm here I was wondering when you people started to drink beer again. I'm 3 weeks out and could really go for a cold one... I.hope your joking about beer. I'm heading to Germany Wednesday but know beer has no future in my diet ever again and should not be in any bariatric patient. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  25. Violet, my first insurance approval was Jan 2016, and let's just say I allowed a few bumps in the process as well as my adult children give me an excuse to not go through with the selected date. My children and I are close, many of our activities and vacations center around eating out, wine tours, world travel and cruising so they believed we would no longer have fun. I endured six months of kicking myself in the a** knowing that was my last chance at a healthy life. Again, my knees were hurting, I couldn't keep up. Traveling on planes, I was probably going to soon ask for seat belt extenders. Enough already. I called my surgeon back. They would need to reapply for insurance and with me on the phone, BCBS had 4 questions I had to answer correctly which thankfully I did. Surgery was scheduled for august. My kids are very supportive since I've lost significant weight. They have changed THEIR view. My daughter and I have attended two weddings, gone to Vegas, New York city, gone on a cruise, and leave for European Xmas market vacation Wednesday with my three kids. Follow your dream, be very strong, FOLLOW your surgeons plan to the letter to avoid complications (you don't need I told you so). I'm sorry I put mine off eight months but for me this has been a miracle. Glad I wasn't talked out of it. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
