  1. It didn't cause dumping and won't, BUT it did taste really aweful and the taste was so bad post op, that I couldn't make myself drink it without heaving.
  2. You will lose in your own way, in your own time. I've lots a crap ton in my face, neck(I now have one again), upper body, and butt, but as far as belly and thighs, they are going a lot slower. It's to be expected since I'm a 7 time mom and have been resistant to weight loss for a long time. It will come off. It just takes time.
  3. I've changed, but not in a bad way. I am definitely more out spoken, more sure of myself, and I take more effort in how I look. When I was 429lbs my only consideration for clothes was "does it fit around me" and is it clean. Now I actually try stuff on in stores and can pick and choose what I want to wear and yes, I may be a bit of a diva overdressing to go grocery shopping, but I love dressing this body up and the positive reactions I get from people just makes me want to dress up more. Who knows what I will be like when I reach my goal, but I'm sure I'll love her!
  4. I'd rather buy a couple of good bras and heavily rotate them, than wear a lesser quality bra that will have you miserable on the way down. If you plan it right, you can get good deals at Lane Bryant on bras. I just bought 2 this past week for around $40 total and then had real women dollars to cut it down even more.
  5. Most insurance doesn't require a co morbidity if you are over 40bmi. I didn't have any. No sleep apnea, no diabetes, no high blood pressure, nothing. All I had was the super high BMI and they approved me right away.
  6. updated...Still a work in progress here as well. Started at 32/34 and those were TIGHT before surgery Nov 9th and as of right now(May 10th) I'm 20/22 on bottom and 18/20 on top and could and should go buy some smaller ones real soon.
  7. not mine. Mine allows all the things that I was eating. I haven't fallen off my plan at all. I'm allowed to have bread if I can tolerate it. I also opt for sprouted bread and not like whitey white bread that turns to gum paste in the intestines. I'm allowed to have tortilla in small amounts as long as I get my protein in first. Same with fruit.
  8. I'm not eating foods I shouldn't be eating. I was eating foods from my plan. I'm allowed to have 1/4 of a tortilla, or a piece of sprouted bread or fruit as long as I've had my Protein first. I'm following my plan. I also take measurements every week and I wasn't losing inches or lbs. it was completely nothing. I know part of it is because of the steroids and part of it is because I have had to scale back my exercise to things I can do without legs like upper body weights.
  9. I agree Djmohr, my NUT wanted me to eat a balanced diet including things like whole wheat tortillas and sprouted bread and fruit. Just Protein first, veggies second and any room leftover was for the fruit and or carbs, but since my stall, we're revamping and trying to get it going.
  10. it was the best decision for the sl current problem. I have lupus and my knee joint has liquified, so it's a cautious forward we are going using the steroids til my insurance will approve a more permanent treatment.
  11. So for over a month I've been in this stall. 1lb up, 1lb down, 1lb up, and 1lb down. Then, I had a 3lb weight gain over 2 days! [emoji33] I called my NUT and we went over what was going on. I've been trying to deal with a torn knee, being on cortisteriods for that which make you insanely hungry, not being able to do any lower body exercise because of that and lupus flaring up which we have found out is liquefying my knee joint, so we've had to up and change meds to try to get it under some sort of control. But all that doesn't excuse the weight gain. It's merely running tandrum to my weight gain. The weight gain, is coming from the fact that little carbs are sneaking in. 1/4 of a tortilla here, starchy veggies like peas here, maybe some corn in my tortilla soup there, etc. a half a slice of bread for a sandwich. Apparently some of us are really highly sensitive to carbohydrates so my NUT wants me to cut out all carbs and fruit and go strictly with plain protein and leafy greens. No fillers and see if that will help. What I wanted to share is that if your stall is going on this long, you might just need help sorting out your diet or something and while a week or two is normal, over a month is NOT normal especially when you are only 4 months out and have an obese person yet to lose. So, if you find yourself where I am, please follow up with your NUT.. It could save you from never reaching your goal.
  12. I don't know anything about Dr Snyder, but I had Dr Chae and he was an awesome surgeon! He does surgeries at St Joe and Skyridge.
  13. Just because you aren't a fan of it pre op, doesn't mean post op you won't like them. I can't remember when the last time pre op was that I ate an egg. They just never did it for me, but post op, I love eggs and eat them every week. Dairy still isn't my friend except cheese....I love cheese especially on my eggs! lol just be open minded post op into trying things you might not have liked before. Your taste buds really do change and you may find things taste better post op.
  14. I use Pure Protein bars. They have sugar alcohols which can upset your digestive track of you eat too much, but at 4 months post op, I can really only handle half a bar.
  15. I had 2 actual appts and the seminar, but I had to report to his nutritionist who gave feedback on what I was doing throughout the process.
  16. I really think you need to sit down and have an honest look at yourself and at your commitment if you are already trying to skirt the rules and you are just out the gate. If you are thinking about risking your health now for a little pleasure in the mouth, think twice, because down the road, it's easier to give into those temptations and not nearly as deadly as advancing your diet too fast is in the beginning. Suture lines take time to heal, and you are risking causing a stricture, or getting something stuck, or perforating your newly created stomach. My NUT told our class about a guy who tried to eat a taco days after going home from surgery and the shell got stuck in his sutures and perforated and he nearly died. Then later on, the same guy was eating candy bars and pushing to see how much of that candy bar he could down before or if he'd get dumping. He never reached his goal, his weight kept going up, and he eventually died of a heart attack. It's not worth it for a little pleasure on the tongue, just stay the course.
  17. You may find that post op, you just don't want or like chocolate anymore. I used to be a level 10 chocoholic, but since surgery, chocolate tastes horrible to me. It's a lot like dirt. Immediately post op I couldn't even get my protein shakes down because the chocolate flavor really make me nauseated. I'm 4 months out now, and honestly, I like the smell of chocolate, but I don't fancy it anymore. Same with tea. I used to drink iced tea by the gallon every day since I was a baby, but since surgery, I just don't like it anymore. It was a hard emotional loss, but taste wise it was a pretty easy give up when it tastes so bad!
  18. I can't tolerate too many protein shakes. Post op, I had a bout of lactose intolerance that is somewhat starting to get better, so it seems, but those first few weeks/months all I could do was syntrax nectars. Twisted cherry and wild grape became my best friends. I still use them daily. I also found recently that I can tolerate my old fav protein shake which is bio chem chocolate. It has a really good taste and doesn't upset my stomach. I use it as a special treat when my family is having dessert, I'll whirl up a cup with some sf chocolate milk(shamrock brand is wonderful!) and ice and make sort of a milk shake. It makes me feel included and tastes great.
  19. I know you are miserable and you think the answer is to get the surgery reversed, but I'd urge you, as others have, to find a psych you can talk to and work on getting your underlying problems worked out. It doesn't sound to me that the surgery was unsuccessful. You have apparently lost weight thus far, the problem is, you are depressed. I don't know if you were depressed before surgery, but sometimes when people are scared of the outcome, they can get depressed when they see they might actually achieve it and they really didn't want to on every level. For some of us, there's that little bit that holds us back....maybe it's from being abused in some way, or for attracting negative attention somehow or maybe we thought the surgery would be a magic bullet to make us feel happy and the aftermath of surgery is that the surgery won't make you happy. It's just a tool to help you lose weight and that's all that it is. You need to get help for the psychological side because at least from where I'm sitting and reading, you are suffering from full blown depression and you might think it's because of the surgery, but it's not. It's more than that.
  20. I've done the toppings only a couple of times, but I have found that my head's desire for pizza doesn't match my stomach's ability to handle it. It's too greasy and just plain nasty. My nut and I talked about pizza from the get go, and she said that we have to not be afraid of these foods. All these things can have a place and role in our lives as long as we don't give them dominance. If eating pizza once will turn you into a 3-4 slice guzzling maniac having pizza multiple times a month, then please don't do that to yourself. If you are more the kind who takes a bite or two and says that was plenty and your itch is scratched, that's better! Have a slice(or a quarter of one slice) and move on.

  22. The best thing to do when you fall off the wagon, is to pick yourself up and put yourself back on that wagon. Try journaling what is going on in your life at the times you feel weak or give in to temptation. Write down how you were feeling and anything that might in retrospect give you some clue into what your motivation for slipping up is so next time when you are in a similar situation you will recognize it and be able to handle it in a better more productive way.
  23. You totally need a new GP! Mine was behind my getting wls so was my Obgyn. The surgery is a great tool to lose weight and if you take good care of your tool and use it, it will always work for you! He is wrong to say if you eat too much now you'll eat too much afterwards, because for many of us, the malfunctioning vagus nerve is what caused us to primarily overeat to begin with! The sense of never ending insatiable hunger! Once you have surgery and that connection is cut, your sense of hunger changes and it is so much easier to deal with now than it was before. If you are an emotional eater, you may have some work to do post op to keep things in check, but we all have baggage and it's about gaining a little perspective and getting a little assistance. My rny has literally saved my life and it's sad to know there are still doctors out there who just believe we eat all day and do nothing and that we just need more willpower to succeed!
  24. I like both honestly. It depends on the dish. If I'm wanting to feel like I'm having spaghetti, the spaghetti squash definitely scratches that itch more, but I used to make garlic Parmesan noodles as a side dish sometimes and the zucchini noodles fill that spot nicely and butter buds substitute the butter part nicely. There are also carrot noodles and beet noodles(didn't much care for those) but you can really do all sorts of fun things with a spiralizer and any semi firm veggies. even makes great sweet potato curly oven fries for that great "cheat night" without totally blowing it.
