    Alcoholic drinks after surgery

I enjoy a couple of glasses of white wine once a week now that I'm about 100 days post-op. It's really quite enjoyable. I do drink slower and try to savor the drinks. But it's nice to indulge every once in a while. There's been pressing no medical concerns as a result of occasional session of moderate drinking. Bottom line, enjoy your drinks, but do remember moderation.

    Eggs no bueno

First couple weeks post-op, I couldn't eat scrambled eggs at all. I would become naseous. I was heartbroken. I thought I may have lost them forever. But I'm about 10 weeks out now, and I'm able to eat them again. I don't choose them as often as before, but every once in a while I can enjoy a full scrambled egg.

    Should I be working out?

Always exercise if you can. You don't have to go hard every single day. But I do try to do something every single day. Even during the pre-op liquid diet, I always tried to get at least some light cardio work done. If you already exercise regularly, it should be a breeze. Good luck!

    Weight gain

Don't worry about losing too much weight pre-op on account of insurance. In fact, the more weight you lose pre-op, the better your chances are of getting approved. Insurance companies like to bet on sure things. A candidate that has shown they're able to lose weight pre-op is someone they consider a good bet to have a successful surgery.

    Alcohol

A shot is probably not a great idea. Alcohol will affect us more quickly and more decisively than ever before. I'm 5 weeks post op. I probably still won't drink for a while. But if I had to have hard liquor I'd try something I could sip. Something to savor over a little while.

    Vitamins

Chewable multi-Vitamins make me nauseous. I think there's something in them that my body thinks is toxic, so it wants to reject them. I'm going to try to switch to a tablet or pill. The calcium citrate and the B12 don't make me feel sick, just the multis.

    I have reached One-derland!

Nice work Shan5311! Under 200 is a good place to be. I lost my first 100 as of today. I hope I get where you are eventually.

    How long out of work?

I consider myself very lucky. My recovery went really well. I have an office job. Two weeks was plenty for me. Some people need longer. It really depends on how each person heals and recovers from a major surgery.

How do you post photos in this Forum?

To post pics on your profile on this forum, I've found it's way easier to do on a computer. I haven't had a lot of success doing it from a phone or tablet. There's a whole area under your profile settings when you view this site on a computer browser.

One year anniversary of my GB

Great work man! If you can figure out the weight, which you did in a big way, you can figure out everything else I'm sure.
  14. The quick weight loss actually started for me during the two week liquid diet before surgery. Then after surgery, during the all-liquid phase, the weight loss was also quick. That's where I am now. Losing 7-10 pounds a week seems about right, mostlly because your calorie conumption is lower than you're used to. I was also very cranky, and very hungry during the liquid phases. Very bored with what I was eating, because there was no variety. But, the weight needs to come off, so the work and inconvenience needs to be endured. It's like a rite of passage. There's a tradeoff. But, the weight does come off. And health should improve as a result. Good luck!

How long in hospital and off work?

Two weeks off work was plenty for me after surgery. Some people have said they've taken as many as six weeks. I live alone, and had no trouble after getting home, although it might be nice to have someone around those first couple of days. The incision pain was a little rough at first, but it does get better everyday. It was mostly gone a week later, and then I was back up and around the second week post-op.
