GERD
there are a few people out there for whom GERD got better after sleeve, but they're in the minority. You have a much better chance of it getting worse. If you have GERD now, you might want to consider gastric bypass as that often improves it if not outright cures it. I had GERD so I went with bypass. I didn't want to risk it getting worse. You may be one of the lucky ones - or not. It comes down to how much risk you're willing to take.

Liquids
most clinics do seem to let you count those toward your fluid intake, but not all. I'm not sure why some of them don't..

Post op diet
I don't think most surgeons give calorie guidelines that early out. You physically can't eat much anyway, so it probably doesn't matter. Most people are told to just focus on protein and fluids when they're early out.

10 months out relapsing into old habits.
this isn't easy, and yes, it's not uncommon for bad habits to sneak back in after you're a ways out. The thing that keeps me on the straight and narrow is the fear of gaining all that weight back again. I never want to go back there...

Question QTNA
sorry - but that's the way internet forums work sometimes. I'm several years out of surgery - I don't remember how quickly I drank shakes. Someone not as far out can probably give you a better answer.

Question QTNA
the reply was to SummerTimeGirl's response. If you'll check again, I added her quote to my post.

Question QTNA
actually, that's more the norm. I think it seems like most people have nausea, can't eat, etc because people who experience that are looking for advice or support, so they're more apt to post. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but I think it kind of skews people's perceptions - they think it happens to a majority of us, when it actually doesn't..

Approved and Anxious!
i still track every day - and every crumb that goes into my mouth!

Approved and Anxious!
the thought of regain is what has kept me on track for the last six years. I did bounce up 20 lbs after hitting my lowest weight (which admittedly was too low for me - I look better now), but that 10-20 lb bounce back during year 2 or 3 is extremely common, so I wasn't shocked by that. As for now, I know it'd be really easy to gain weight if I stopped paying attention - and the thought of that makes me pay attention! I still log my food and still weigh myself at least once a week so I can jump quickly onto any gain and get it back under control. This will probably be a lifelong thing...

Foods for the Pureed/Soft Stages?
I remember eating refried beans and hummus during the pureed stage
-
Protein drinks
I like them, too. I have one as my morning snack every day. And I'm six years out...
-
Good Sources of Carbs
my program was a balanced one vs one of the ultra-low-carb ones, but regardless, we were told to focus on protein and fluids during the early weeks, since those are important for healing.

Need bra/panties for Boudoir session
I think I'm getting old - I've never even heard of boudoir photography. I just googled it - looks like this is kind of a big thing nowadays...

Once a year for the rest of forever
yearly labs and follow-up appts for life. If I'm too high or low on some nutrient, they'll adjust my dosage and re-check three months later. So the clinic is good about it - I don't know how many of the patients are good about keeping to this schedule, though...

Should I feel different
I never felt any different. Part of me wondered if they'd even done the surgery! I did feel some restriction once I moved to regular foods, though.

No Pre Op Diet Ordered?
most people have to do one, but not all. Consider yourself lucky!

Bile acid diarrhea problems. Should I get sleeve or RnY?
they don't really bypass much of the intestine with RNY (not like they do with the DS), but then, I don't really know whether or not - or how much - of the intestine that they re-route is related to bile acids. I'd ask your bariatric surgeon, too. I've been hanging out on this and other boards for the last six or seven years, and this is the first time this has come up, believe it or not... P.S. if it would be an issue, then sleeve would probably still be an option, since that surgery is all on your stomach - they don't touch your intestines.

Weight stall
that's more than I was eating at that point, but you should still be losing weight on that. Maybe give it another week or two - but yea - stalls normally don't last that long.
-
Weight stall
five weeks is getting pretty long for a stall. You may have thrown yourself into maintenance (where your calorie intake and whatever calories you're burning up are at equilibrium). Are you still tracking your food intake? You may need to decrease your calories a bit - or increase your activity - to get things moving again.
-
Breaking the stall
the vast majority of us experience stalls. It's just a normal part of weight loss. You'll likely have several on your journey, and they'll last 1-3 weeks. Just stick to your plan and stay off the scale for a few days if you need to. They'll break, and then you'll be on your way again.

Not wanting to eat
I know this is a weird thing to say, but...enjoy it while you can. For most of us, hunger comes roaring back sometime within the first year, and then things become much more challenging. It'll never in your life be easier to lose weight than it will right now, when you don't give a flip about food. In retrospect, I wish my hunger had never come back!!!
-
Not wanting to eat
not sure when you had your surgery, but a lot of lose our sense of hunger for a few months. I pretty much lost interest in food, too - it was sort of a chore to eat. I wish that was still true, but alas...my hunger came back at five months out.

Severe Gerd and ulcers after gastric bypass
yea - that would be pretty rare - bypass usually improves if not cures GERD. Sorry you're dealing with this...that is awful!
-
Sucralose
not sure. I wasn't told that. Do you have a medical condition, maybe, that it might affect? Otherwise...?? There are probably no artificial sweeteners that are completely safe (well, neither is sugar, really) - but I don't know anything specific about sucralose.

Surgery Day June 3, 2021
I had mine done on June 3 as well - but in 2015! So June 3 will always be a significant date for me. Congrats on your surgery!!
