I'm 5'8" and 62 years old. My bariatric dr gave me a goal of 180. I think id like to go lower but we shall see. I've lost 106 lbs since my 12-1-15 RNY. I'm at 196. Can't believe I've come this far. So thankful. I'll just keep losing as long as my body cooperates.

I totally understand where you are coming from. I have always carried my weight in my upper arms and for the last 35 years or so I have hid my arms from anyone other than my husband seeing them. The bigger they got, the more embarrassed I got.
I had Bariatric surgery almost 2 years ago and got to goal last March. This summer has been hard because I am at a great weight yet when you look at me, you would still see these giant arms that were both saggy and filled with residual fat that just would not leave my body.
2 weeks ago I had an appt. with a plastic surgeon who has excellent ratings. I live in Pewaukee wi. Not far from Chicago at all. Her name is Dr. Maida Parkins and she is in Delafield WI. I met her on Monday and on Thursday I had my brachioplasty. You would not believe the results. My arms are tiny, well defined, the skin is perfect and they look like I am in my early 20's.
I cannot wait to get the dressings off in 2 weeks. I will tell you it hurts like hell, itches like crazy, in fact I am sitting with ice packs on both arms as I type. It is worth every single ounce of pain I have gone through and would do it 100 times more!
Dr. Parkins is an artist and extremely caring and she totally gets it! It would be worth the couple hour trip for you. My brachioplasty cost $5950.00. She will also be performing an Abdominalplasty and breast lift with implants in the near future for me. I am attaching my before pics and after. Unfortunately the show upside down and I don't know how to fix that. I would be happy to share them via email along with the post surgery ones that show the bruising if you are interested. Just PM me with your email address.

One day this week I will be taking my 2 week post op pics and will post them for you to see without the compression garment. The bruises are going down as is the swelling and they really do look fantastic.
I am ready to start burning all my cover up sweaters, jackets, shrugs......I am sure you get it. I feel like I want to go sleeveless forever! Even in the winter HAHAHAHA

I just got my date: December 1. I'm 61, and very excited about this new "tool" I will have in my life-long weight struggle. But I'm also fearful of the surgery, complications, and my reliance on food for comfort. I think I'll struggle with the "head hunger" part of it. But i am excited!

i'm six weeks out from surgery, 40 pounds down including pre-surgery diet, and i'm feeling kneecaps! Before i had big rounded knees in the middle of my leg, but now, i have bony protrusions starting to stick up! So cool! (It's the little things!)

The main reason I chose GB RNY was with the hopes that I would dump. But I also learned before my surgery that most people don't.
I'm also a sugar addict. I have tried VERY little things with sugar in the last 5 months (1 tablespoon of birthday cake, 4 mm's,) and while I have not dumped I feel as if I were to eat more I would so I'm scared and don't and use that as a tool.
A couple of days ago my kids made CC Cookies, I ate 1/3 of the cookie and felt miserable for an hour after. Not dumping per se, but definitely won't be eating another one of those!

Cookies are crunchy and go down well for me (unfortunately), so I avoid temptation. It's the sugar alcohols in the sugar free stuff that make me dump and irritate my pouch. Had 3 bites of homemade cheesecake. Dumped almost instantaneously. So fat content has a lot to do with it too. But yeah, no problem with sugar cookies either. I wish they made me sick too.

First of all, don't try that again! lol. I only say that because your first foray into foods that we aren't supposed to have is just a gateway to do it more! Yes, I said that. Cookies are a gateway drug! lol
Anyway, Cookies don't make me dump but muffins do. It's a weird blend of things that either do or don't. And even then, it is just the heart racing, weakness, sort of dumping, nothing else.
Sometimes some food gives me a stitch on the lower left side of my stomach and that is actually more painful even though it is tolerable to some level.
You are just going to have to be strong and not try those things again! Don't push the envelope.

It might be just what you ate. Maybe 2 Cookies would've made you dump... maybe one cookie will make you dump next time. I think it's always going to be a test. Everything you eat is "testing."
I haven't ever dumped... fully ... but I do get a racing heart sometimes and that's from my Protein shake in the mornings. I get that when I drink them too fast.
Anyways... no idea the point of my story ... Hahaha

Celebrate with me! I've lost 62 pounds since Thanksgiving (surgery was Dec 1), and I just realized I'm over halfway to my goal. That is so exciting. I'm still learning what to eat, how much, how fast, which seems to change regularly; but i have absolutely NO REGRETS. I feel so much better, look so much better. I have lengthened my lifespan. i am so thankful.

I was one week into my two week pre-surgery fast and my doctor cancelled my surgery indefinitely. He "claimed" that he had some issue with another bariatric surgeon that he had to work out before he could do any more surgeries. I was devastated. When I got home, I Googled him and saw his mug shot on line. Turns out he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and THAT is what he was dealing with. I had to find another surgeon and go through the whole process again. Three months later I finally had the surgery done by a really good doctor. Glad I dodged the bullet of having a crazy man do my surgery.

I am 33 months post op RNY. I would recommend that you take a good before photographs so that you can compare it to the after photograph. Often times we fail to really see ourselves. And after surgery, we sometimes question our weight loss because we have nothing to compare it to.
This is my 6 month before and after photo. I tried to duplicate the same pose.

I am having such a difficult time with Constipation
I am putting 2 capsules of Probiotics I buy from costco in my yogurt each morning NOW I have also started taking 2 stool softener caps at night - one at a time so I do not cause a block.
I know from past diets whenever I had a lot of Protein this would happen BUT I am still in the soft food stage with my foods I can eat. Tried chili without meat, tasted good but did not make the magic I was hoping for happen
BTW I am off pain meds so I feel its just alot of protein in my diet and yes I should admit getting the Water down is tough for me - I do drink 2 Premier Protein drinks a day as my NUT recommended also. And I do have 3 cups Decaf in the morn ( does that count for water?) and also try and drink 80 ounces of water in addition to my Protein Drinks.< /p>
Please share with me ideas you have used that worked - now 28 days post surgery YAY no dumping yet LOL
All of you are my heros by the way so very very happy I found this site - everyone is AWESOME!!!
Thanks for your ideas and your time !

No, you don't want to cut back on your calcium. It's really important for your bones.
There is a whole list of foods they say you should not eat if you are prone to kidney stones.
