My surgeon wrote a book for us patients and it's everything and anything you'd want to or need to know for post op life!! It's my bible
I don't eat any bread either lol none!

Honestly I stick to the diet the surgeon suggest lol I live off cottage cheese, chicken in a can, my Premier Protein shakes of course, a thin slice of turkey lunch meat with a slice of Munster cheese. I have cod so routine is easy. I find what works and stick to it & I'm healthy & exceed my Water goals and Protein goals. I want to be back to a 4-5 jeans so whatever it takes on doing. I drink around 65+ oz of water and 3 Protein Shakes with 30grams of protein each.

I think my final straw was my mom telling me how bad o had gotten. I wasn't pretty anymore & hadn't realized I shut the world out. I was so used to being tiny & in under two years I gained so much weight. I'm so glad I chose this journey & I only wish I had done it sooner!!

If at all possible, plan ahead. Find out what restaurant you're going too and then go online and check out their healthy options. It scared me at first too as I ate out a lot with friends pre-surgery. I had my surgery April 27, 2015. I personally love Cheesecake Factory because of their skinnylicious menu. It's really good, really healthy and super cheap compared to regular meals. And you can check online to find the lower fat and lower sugar options. You can always ask places to prepare veggies steamed instead of with oil or butter. When you go, take a bite... Wait a few min to see how your tummy reacts before taking another bite. I also carry a Protein Bar with me when I'm gonna be out for a long time, especially on days when you can tell that you shouldn't be too adventurous with your stomach. Hope this helps.

@@maxinee my surgeon did the same thing. He created a nutrition book with all the diet stages, pre-op and post-op way of life and a chapter of questions and answers that have come up in the past. It is my Bible too!

I pretty much got over the whole eating out in public thing during my pre-op diet. I am now totally comfortable going to a restaurant with my husband or friends, and ordering a Water and a cup of ice to pour my Protein Shake into. With zero you-know-whats given. I just make sure to tip very well.

i have a friend who had this same surgery that we did - the sleeve - she is going to be at her 2 year mark in September - anyhoo - she drinks beer all the time and she doesn't wait for it to be flat - it doesn't bother her - my surgeon told me that i could drink it after i healed up - but here's the deal - do i want to? Beer has a butt load of empty calories so i am going to have to really want those calories in order for me to drink it. When i do drink I usually choose something that has less carbonation in it - i drink wine - it still has empty calories so like i said when i decide to drink i fit it into my caloric intake for the day - it has to be worth it to me - because at the end of the day that is who matters the most - ME. Happy Monday folks!

I haven't lost cup size yet thank God, just band size. I don't really want mine to shrink, I prefer having bigger breasts. Either way I'll be getting surgery on them.

Well how I eat now is WAY different than at 8 weeks. Back then I still got stuffed on a couple tablespoons of food, so I was shooting for as much Protein as I could in every bite. I didn't feel "normal" until 4 months out. That's when I could eat a little more, started mixing in more veggies and fruit, and didn't have to struggle each day just to meet goals.
At 6 months I could eat a small plate of whatever everyone else was eating ....heavy on the Protein dishes, less of the carbs. At 10 months my restriction loosened even more and I found I could eat more and still maintain. Thats pretty much where I still am.
Yesterday was a weekend so I did a lot of snacking. Here's what I had.....
1 egg omelet with cheese and sausage; 2 16oz cups of Decaf coffee with 1/2 and 1/2. leftover Chinese BBQ pork, raw cauliflower, broccoli and carrots dipped in spinach dip, peanuts, blueberries, plain Greek yogurt flavored with vanilla Protein powder and flax seed added for Fiber, a slice of braunschweiger, 12oz can of V8 juice, elk sausage with a couple bagel crisps, 32oz Water, white chocolate raspberry Quest bar, cottage cheese and fresh peaches.
I know it sounds like a lot, but the portions were small and that's typically how I eat on the weekends if I'm home. But in general I eat whatever I want whenever I'm hungry. On work days I don't get a lunch break but I always have a large protein smoothie and a Quest bar at some point in the day so I'm free to eat veggies, fruit and grains at mealtimes, rather than just protein.

Most restaurants have cottage cheese, so that is my stand by since I have not been clear for salads yet. I am only 3 weeks post op. Last night, my husband ordered fish and chips, so I just ate 2 oz of fish (I took of the breading). It was amazing to be out with him. Although I think the waiter though we were weird for only ordering one entree and a small plate.

I'm only 2 weeks out and just started mushy foods. But today my husband and I met some friends at a lobster festival down the Jersey Shore. It was difficult to see everyone enjoying all that good food and not be able to eat. I just kept sipping my Water. I know it will all be worth it. I came hope and ate my refried Beans (for the first time). They were DELICIOUS,
