Smallbites2015 got a reaction from Inner Surfer Girl in Anxiety about being almost one year post op
The time passes so fast it's been a year for me now and I'm still not done losing. Your weight loss is great . If you've gotten off track take a deep breath and start over. I've gotten somewhat lax but I added my Protein shakes back in and trying to get my Vitamins . This tool is still there just let it work .
I realize where my issues are and I have to do better

Smallbites2015 got a reaction from tony031469 in Becoming vegetarian after surgery.
I hated meat at first, it just made me too full no matter how little I ate. I kept trying. Switched to chicken thighs as the breast I could't seem to get down. Beef still not that Great. I eat maybe an ounce of meat at a time because it feels me up so fast.
I considered myself a vegetarian for a while after surgery but stopped when I could tolerate meat. I was tired of Beans and the carbs were freaking me out!!!
Couldn't do eggs either, but no problems now... I have an eggs steamer and love the texture a bit better than boiled.
If it doesn't work for You at first , put it Sade and come back to it later.

I'm seriously thinking dehydratin. That can turn into a medical emergency really quick !! Drink as much as you can. Did up you call your surgeon?
Consider ER Visit...

You may have better luck -- I found it to be like any other drink and so it is an added bonus to get in the Protein as well.
This morning I had Twisted cherry and loved it. I tried apple ecstacy this afternoon and can't take it -- it tastes minty for some reason Loving the sample variety pack for this reason and bought it here at the bariatric pal store!

Smallbites2015 reacted to gowalking in What’s the Most Awkward Part of WLS?
The most awkward part of WLS is knowing the only option I had left was surgery. I was so out of control that nothing short of medical intervention was needed. I'm still so ashamed of that. It's why I'm so happy that after more than two years at goal, no one makes comments about how great I look. I know that seems odd, but for every compliment I got, it was a reminder to me how large I had become. I know...I know. Believe me...there's a reason I'm in therapy....

They are all very complimentary and don't realize how many other people are commenting on it (I work in a hospital) but it gets a little old and a little uncomfortable.

Most awkward for me is the folks who honest to goodness do not recognize. Like really takes them a while or I have to speak before they figure it out. And then they go on and on about how they don't recognize me. Sometimes it is funny but mostly it is uncomfortable.

People who go on and on about how much you've lost in front of other people who never knew you fat.

Smallbites2015 reacted to OutsideMatchInside in My goal is 200lbs weight loss. I refuse bypass. Has anyone lost beyound the 60% doctora expect with sleeve?
There are people that never get out of the 200s with bypass. Or regain. It isn't about the tool it is about the person. If you don't commit to life changes you will either regain or never get to goal.

I lost ALL 150 lbs of my excess weight in 9 months. I walk at least 15,000 steps a day, weight train 4 days a week and carb/calorie cycle where I go high carb, high Protein, and low fat and the days I don't train, I go low carb, moderate fat, and high Protein. Yes, it's possible to lose all the weight. For the first 3 months, I averaged 600 calories a day with as much of it coming from protein as possible. For the next 3 months, I averaged 900 calories a day, still getting as much from protein as possible. From months 6 to 9, I stopped counting calories but probably averaged 1,800 calories a day. I still lost ~30 lbs and gained a lot of muscle doing this. This is also when I calorie and carb cycled. I eat significantly more calories on days I workout. I don't recommend this for everyone, but post workout simple sugars are my friends - chocolate milk is my go to post workout nutrition.

The short answer is "yes." But I will warn you, the averages are all based on the average person.
That means that there are some who ignore the doctors warning and think they can eat pureed Big Macs and be OK, and that is wrong. The sleeve is a tool, not a magic wand.
If you are willing to pay the price, track your food and utilize this tool, you can own this. But if you think I don't have to think about it, no you won't. It's really that simple.

Smallbites2015 got a reaction from 2goldengirl in Having a period right before surgery?
Mine started day before surgery. I was embarrassed but mesh panties and a pad I got. Not the most fun but thank God it was actually pretty light and mine are really heavy. Don't cancel just get it done and move forward

Smallbites2015 got a reaction from MickeyMax95 in How long did it take you to notice?
It was all of a sudden. Yes my clothes are smaller but one day I looked in the mirror and I was like WHOA! Pictures do help too. I am 4 months post op now and it gets better everyday.

Smallbites2015 reacted to Lexuskela in Anyone else feel scared they'll gain it back?
I am only 3 months post op and yes I worry daily about regain and more so at this point about not losing enough. I worry, will I really get to my goal? Will I really keep losing? Even though I have not cheated , NOT ONCE? What if I am that ONE PERSON that the surgery fails me? I have read about people who said " oh the weight just DROPPED OFF ME!" ...... Well I am 3 months post op and 42 lb down since day of surgery and 67 lb down since my very first appointment with the surgeon and I started my diet pre op. But then I think.... Well it's not just DROPPING OFF ME!!!! What's wrong with me????? It's a HUGE MENTAL GAME.....

Smallbites2015 reacted to LipstickLady in Anyone else feel scared they'll gain it back?
Afraid/anxious/terrified? No. I have better things to expend my energy on.
Aware/diligent? Absolutely. I was just called "green" because I am "only" 2.5 years out. I will NOT regain because I am determined to stay healthy.
Don't confuse that confidence with arrogance, though. I know what I need to do to stay where I am and I will not fail my body again.

Smallbites2015 reacted to Elode in Never in my life did I think I would share this!
I never would have dreamed of showing anyone my weight on a scale. I absolutely dreaded weighing in at the DR's office. As if they cared right?!. Scale numbers are the thing nightmares are made of in my world. I think I was traumatized as a child when they would do "health checkups" at school, everyone would get called to the cafeteria and have to be weighed in front of the people standing behind you. Horrible experience!! Not today folks!! I am thrilled to share my scale experience! My starting weight 10 months ago was a even 267 Lbs on the day of surgery. I am now officially over 100 lbs lost (barely). This process has defiantly been a complete life changing experience. I still have a hard time accepting the numbers, it just doesn't seem real so I weight a good 5x in a row just to make sure I'm not delusional Only 5 more lbs and I will be considered "normal" I have never wanted to be more "normal" in my life From morbidly obese, obese, overweight to normal in 10 tiny months! I would do this surgery 100x again if I had to just to have these moments. I'm incredibly grateful. God is good all the time!!
