The "original flavour" is better than the "100 calorie" version IMO (makes sense )

This surgery (I'm only 9 weeks post-op) has taken away my cravings and hunger, so I'm establishing new eating habits right now. I had the surgery because I care about my health, and when I can only eat a few tablespoons of food, no way am I going to have that few tablespoons be carb-y garbage like bread, rice, baked goods, ice cream, etc. That mindset keeps me from eating dumb, useless foods. Instead, I now know that I need Protein to feel good. Before my sleeve, I could eat a bunch of crappy food AND the Protein I needed for survival. Now, I have to choose and for me, it's been easy. The restriction helps to keep my portions where they need to be as I train my body to be satisfied with small portions, and the lack of hunger allows me to portion appropriately and avoid mindless eating.
It IS hard to explain and even harder to understand until you're in the midst of it, but this is the most effective tool I've ever had access to and I'm loving it.

To me, willpower is a load of crap.
Before the sleeve: 1) conventional dieting meant I was at constant war with my body, 2) conventional dieting wasn't making me healthier but was creating my obesity, 3) willpower only meant I was an adversary to myself, and 4) no matter how hard I worked, every diet eventually led to even more weight gain.
Post-op, I am learning 1) how to work with my body and not against it; 2) how to satisfy my needs with small amounts of delicious, nutritious, food; and 3) my efforts and hard work reaps positive results.
Unfortunately, it is hard to describe the difference to someone who hasn't been sleeved. Because of that, it is one of the biggest fears and concerns that people have pre-op.

I fly often & never check a bag. I've had no issues bringing a baggies full of assorted Vitamins. No prob with either small packets of Protein Powder nor a small tupperware container of Protein powder. I fly mostly out of EWR & CHS.

Advil is not allowed, only Tylenol. I used to have terrible headaches but now I do not for some reason. I am looking into essential oils I keep hearing about. I also have hay fever, and all the Cold Medicines are not allowed.

JenniferP1 reacted to ShelterDog64 in Other than drinks/soup, what do you mix your Genepro into?
I mix it into anything/everything that's mixable: pudding, oatmeal, applesauce, sour cream, mascarpone, ricotta, dressings, dips, drinks, smoothies, sauces. If I'm putting it in a warm/hot food, I put it in after the food is cooked or heated up. Use a fork to stir it into liquids, and add it in small amounts to incorporate it more easily.

Well to make a long story short I have been given the opportunity to have plastic surgery done on my mid section. It will be at no out of pocket cost to me but I am just not sure if I want to do it or not.

In between 30 and 50 grams. Honestly though, I don't count. Maybe that's a mistake, but I'm eating a vegan diet with some vegetarian meals; everything is predominately whole-foods. I feel amazing! I can't wait to go to my 6mo post op appointment and check in with him.

People mix it in sauces and salad dressing. Hot cereals, shakes, puddings.

I put GENEPRO into my Decaf coffee. I know it mixes well in Soups.
I have put GENEPRO in my hummus, yogurt. it mixes pretty well. I'm still in the soft stage food, but really need to keep my Protein in.
Can you mix it into recipes that you cook? I know it says never to microwave. I had made these ricotta puffs in muffin tins and while I reheated one, After reheating i did mix maybe half a serving of genepro into the center. So far I'm not sure on the whole cooking with it.
Would love to hear other ideas.

I need suggestions on good tummy control options. Some people wear corsets and I sometimes wear a girdle but it doesn't shape my body how I would like. You can tell that I have one on. Just curious to what's out there that really works.

    Hi
I'm 5 months post op and going to a festival tomorrow.
Any suggestions on what alcohol or mixers I can drink that aren't fizzy? Wine and fruit juices will be no good as will be camping for 3 days so no fridge.
    Thank you

So I have a fairly severe allergy to candida and also have autoimmune and need to take a daily probiotic to stay healthy. Is this something we can take post-op? If so, how do you take yours? Capsule, break the capsule, liquid form (if that exists)?

It's a Tylenol based medicine, I would say you're good to go. The only meds we're to stay away from is NSAIDs

I enjoy seaweed and kale chips if I need something to crunch on. They have been an excellent alternative.
A lot of starchy things I can't handle, especially rice. Rice feels as if it gets stuck in my chest. I felt that feeling once and am in no hurry to repeat it.
I've really been trying to incorporate more raw vegan meals and I've had a lot of luck so far.

The Protein options are limitless with a plant based diet. I'll list you some of my favorites:
Chickpeas Lentils Tempeh Tofu Nuts Beans Broccoli Spinach Kale meat Replacements - I love Nate's Meatballs and Beyond meat burgers! Also, probably one of my favorite things to have is cauliflower! I am hooked on cauliflower steaks at the moment. They are simply to die for!

I'd love to incorporate more plant based foods into my diet but am still trying to burn weight off and maintain my Protein levels.
I'd like to learn more about what you eat for Protein and still stay low carb (Fiber carbs are fine with me).
