I was sleeved on the 26th, starting weight 280, op day weight 222, goal weight 150, current weight 145. I'm a sous chef at a marina and I sweat all day long in an 80-90 degree kitchen, I am moving [all day long] in a two story building. I drink more than the minimum amount of Water needed (because I am sweating, I need to replace that). I put inventory up, (yes up a set of stairs, we call it "leg day"... we have 3 of them a week minimum) and this is just things off the top of my head as to what I do in a day's work. Oh and 12 hour days, 5-6 days a week sometimes 7 if someone calls out. I bring greek yogurt, Protein bars, I make sure to hit my Protein count etc.
I've cut my hair, gotten a new tattoo (already had a few), and have to make an effort to not shop for myself now that I'm in my dream size.
I did everything the way my doctors program laid out for me and I reached the goal they set for me. I'm extremely happy with the decision to have this surgery and I am never looking back!!!!

So........how are things going for you ???
By now.....we've probably all learned a lot about ourselves.....the good, the bad.....the ugly.
We've been thrown off the horse and then got back on that beast and rode 'em hard again.
    How are you doing ?
I'm feeling very confident in the future life and having a tool to keep the weight in the desired ranges. It's been a process.....and when I keep it simple it stays that way.......simple.
When I've opened the door a crack.....the madness comes rushing back in. The old ways. But......but.....the sleeve is a beast of his own. He knocks down the madness like Bruce Lee thwarting would be attackers. He fights them off until I can rally and get back to my senses.
Still having a lack of hunger as long as I don't escalate head hunger by grazing on sugary hell.
Sticking to Proteins and vegetables and all is well.

For immediate post op, I used a vape pen to lessen the coughing. Surgery 10/26 (or 29th?) And have smoked everyday since I got out of hospital. I've lost 105 lbs altogether and that's with "munchies" (knowledge of what I should eat helps make right choices), proper diet and exercise. .. and smoking a lot, daily. Helps with my IBS, my anxiety... I'm altogether a better calmer person to be around and now I'm healthier! :-)

Surgery is scheduled for 7:30am PST. Heading to the hospital soon and am surprisingly not as nervous as I thought I would be. I know that will change once I get there and can't wait for my happy meds!

Hi October group. Great to read where you're all at.
I've learned so much and have loved this journey.
    Stats. Highest weight 236 5'3" BMI 40+
    Surgery weight: 200 10/27/15
    Current wt: 146
    Goal: 136?
Who knows about goal. Nut says 115 which sounds insane.
Maybe I can't judge so I've been hoping to be a healthy BMI 25. This would put me bw 136-140.
It's all such new territory, right.
So I'm down 90 and would like to reach a total of 100 lbs down.
    The key lessons:
I'm a carb addict and not necessarily a food addict. Carbs are not worth it and i don't want my hunger back.
Must get my Water and Protein.
    Must walk 10,000 steps.
    Must get my Vitamins.
How would this be possible without MyFitnessPal?
In my support group, people that are trying to get back on track have to go back to these basics.
I never want to reintroduce carbs. To me it would disrespect my sleeve. NOT worth it.
I also get crazy reactions from people. Positive and negative. And I have weird emotions surfacing. That's the best part of support groups and forums. Few outsiders get our journey.
    My mantra:
    CARBS ARE NOT MY FRIEND!!!!
    Protein is.
    MyFitnessPal is.
    Congrats to you all.

You guys... Its a bit of a story but I need some support.
I've reached goal weight. I'm happier than ever. My friend and whom I thought was my support system when I needed her... Just recently saw me. Told me I looked anorexic. I'm freaking out. She had her surgery 8 months before I did. Different doctor and all. She hasn't reached her goal weight and has a lot of dumping due to bad eating habits. Why am I so concerned about what she says when I'm succeeding and she even said she was jealous... Am I wrong?

steph_anie got a reaction from FocusOnMeNow in So what's the deal with fizzy drinks?
We've been told by our doctors what is necessary to cover their side in case something negative happens post-op. (They did "everything" they could....).
With that in mind, sodas or fizzies weren't good for us to begin with. It's empty calories. Yeah it tastes amazing. But it's plain not good for our bodies, before or after surgery.
My friend had her surgery 8 months before I had mine. She started drinking sodas 8 days post op, among other habits most of us should frown upon. I'm 4 lbs away from my goal, she's 50 lbs away. So bad choices lead to bad results. Right?

I have people telling me all the time now when I tell them I have 20 more lbs to go, oh no you will look too thin! I don't think at 5'5" 150 (in 20 less lbs. 170 now) I will be too thin. Maybe they are trying to compliment me & saying I look great now but it does make you wonder. I'm not trying to be 125 like was in high school, or 135 at 40. I'm 60 now & don't mind keeping a little weight on. So 150-155 I think I will be fine.

Just spotted this thread-I'm 21st Oct '15 surgery date. Down 53lbs to 150 and have got just under 30lbs to lose. I am loving how I am feeling and just wish that I had had the VSG years ago. It's taken years off me and as I am hurtling headlong to my 60th birthday later this year every little helps. As I couldn't give a flying fart about behaving in a normal, grown up manner, I am starting to add to my eccentricities starting by throwing conventional behaviour to the four winds. My clothes are now bought for fun and not function, I make loud comments (more to embarrass my pals!) when I see worthy male anatomy when out and about, and I am driving far too fast in my Fiat 500c Abarth (black with red and black leather interior). When I got the car two months pre-op I wasn't sure whether it was such a good idea as my arse was really too big to fit into it's sporty little seats properly. Now, no problem. Not even snug. Just need the warmer weather so that I can have the hood down and really pose. Ain't life fun? All the NSV just keep adding up to one HUGE smile.

Had my 6 mo. check up last week:

    A1C is 5.5 (down from 5.9 pre-op)
pants size from a snug 24 to 18
    tops size 2X to XL
Only regret is that I didn't do this 10 years ago~!
