I love a broiled lobster tail. I buy them at the Fresh Market all the time and broil them in my toaster oven.
I eat shrimp too - I've had no problem with them.
I also eat salmon, flounder, grouper and haddock either broiled or cooked on my Nu Wave.

I used to eat ice cream by the half gallon. Now it just tastes awful. In fact, sweet stuff tastes icky now. It's overly sweet and cloying. And I used to eat multiple candy bars daily or some form of candy all the time.
I used to eat potato chips by the pound bag. Now they taste awful to me too. I can't tell you why - they just do.
And I've eaten more vegetables in the past 8 weeks than I've eaten in the past 8 years. They taste really good now.
I weigh and measure everything and track on My Fitness Pal to make sure I stay within my calorie and Protein goals.
I don't believe in the whole calories in/calories out thing. If I'm only eating around 1100 calories a day and I should be eating closer to 1900 at my weight then the weight should be falling off if it's only CICO. But it isn't falling off that fast.

I was required to have 6 months of supervised weight loss for Anthem BCBS. My PCP just wrote a letter stating that I had tried Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Atkins, South Beach, seen a NUT, and that she was agreeing that I had not seen success with anything. That was good enough for the insurance company.

I had them the 2 days I was in the hospital. I had heparin shots multiple times a day. Between the shots and the blood draws I had 22 separate bruises when I went home.
They asked me in the hospital if I was safe at home. I told them I have 22 big bruises and 6 incisions on my stomach - I'm a whole lot safer at home than I am in here!

Slow and steady wins the race. I've had really slow weight loss but with this tool I'm not slipping back into my old habits of giving up. You can do it too. Just hang in there and you will get to where you want to be. Don't give up!

hockeyfan7 got a reaction from sweesee in Why Getting Sleeved was the Biggest Mistake of My Life
Permanent? Well duh! I don't think anyone who had a sleeve went into it not knowing they were having anywhere from 75% to 85% of their stomach removed. It's not like it can be glued back on.
You asked "You want to live with only 15-20% of your stomach and eat 4-6 ounces of food at a time? Forever?" Well yes, actually I do. That's what I signed up for. But I can eat more than 6 oz of food at a time. I can eat 6 oz of Protein and a serving of vegetables like a salad or some zucchini or green Beans.
I don't need to eat a whole large pizza and a bag of potato chips like I used to. I don't need to eat ice cream and Cookies and candy bars. I feel so much better eating steak and salad.
And I'm not in the least bit deprived. Yesterday for lunch I had a broiled lobster tail with a small salad.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience but that doesn't mean the rest of us feel that way. And it doesn't mean someone going into the surgery will feel the same way. Actually I'd rather have most of my stomach missing than be dead which is where I was headed. And a lot of other people have that same situation.
I only wish I had done this in my 20s. I missed a lot of my life being morbidly obese.

Yes, I would dig further. It sounds like BCBS put on the additional stipulations. I'd find out who said you needed to prove that and then have your PCP write a letter.

hockeyfan7 got a reaction from Caela88 in Revision done in one or two surgeries?
Mine was done in one surgery. There wasn't anything wrong with my band. They just couldn't get it filled to the right spot where I would lose weight. I was either throwing up everything or gaining when they would take out fill. My insurance would pay for the sleeve so I switched.
My surgeon normally does them all in one surgery unless there is a reason when he gets in there that he can't. I didn't have any complications or problems.

hockeyfan7 got a reaction from OutsideMatchInside in Sleeve vs Bypass long term weight loss results
My surgeon told me something I didn't know - the sleeve has actually been around longer than people think. He said that the sleeve surgery is really the first part of the bypass surgery and that with people who were super large they would do the sleeve, give them 6-8 months and then do the rest of the surgery for the bypass.
What they found was that the people were losing decent amounts of weight with the sleeve, so they started doing just the sleeve without the 2nd surgery. And then the sleeve started being really popular.

I'm not allowed to have iceberg lettuce. But I was eating salad around the third week. I have not had any trouble keeping it down. I use Bibb and romaine (I tear out the middle hard stem), red/green leaf lettuce and butter lettuce. I add very finely diced cucumber, shredded carrot, chopped Tomato and it doesn't bother me at all.

I had my revision on June 1st. I do not miss that band at all and I am very happy with the sleeve. I don't miss throwing up every time I eat or drink. I don't miss having that port slide across a nerve and give me a sharp, stabbing pain. I don't miss the giant needles going into my stomach with no numbing first. I don't miss having to go every six weeks for fill adjustments.
I had no issues with my revision surgery. I've lost 36.6 lbs in not quite 3 months and my goal is 10 lbs a month.
And I can eat chicken again! After my band surgery I could not eat any part of the chicken no matter how you cooked it without it coming right back up.

I have one of those too - it's been 4 months for me. It's gotten lighter but it's still there. Doesn't hurt or anything and the surgeon said it looks fine.

The worst part of the sleep study I thought was trying to get all the goop out of my hair. It took about 5 good hair washings to get it to come out.

That may be what your surgeon said. But you do realize not all surgeons have the same plans? And all NUT's don't either. Just like all surgeons don't use the same pre-op diet, not all surgeons use the same post-op diet.

I would do what your doctor says. I was on solid food eating steak and zucchini on day 10. I started eating scrambled egg and canned chili on day 6.
Everyone's surgeon has a different plan. My pre-op diet was not liquids at all. I had solid food all the way up to 12 hours before surgery.

I'm in my 3rd month from my revision and I'm very happy with it so far. I've lost 35 lbs and I do have restriction even though my sleeve is not as small as a usual sleeve. The other day I pushed it and finished my plate and I did throw it back up. Otherwise I have not had a problem at all. I know not to do that now.

In 3 years with the band I lost a total of 80 pounds. And then it stopped and I started having major problems eating and vomiting all the time.
In not quite 4 weeks with the sleeve I've lost 21 pounds. I'm rarely hungry to where my stomach is growling and I want to eat. I keep around 1,000 calories a day with the lean Proteins and non-starchy veggies and if I really want to eat something, my NUT says to just get some more veggies. I know I didn't get fat eating salad.

At day 10 I was allowed zucchini, summer squash and green Beans. At day 10 I was allowed lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes, etc.
I'm 3 months out and still not supposed to have fruits at all. I have had peaches, cantaloupe, strawberries, apples and cherries in small amounts though. The NUT says they have too many carbs and not to eat them.

When I had my lapband the psychiatrist they sent me to was the most annoying person on the face of the planet. He was totally full of himself and drove me nuts.
When I had my revision they tried to send me to him again and I said no way. So they sent me to a different person. Some of them seem like they are in the wrong profession.
