I can hardly believe I am finally in the hospital all checked in. I'm so nervous- more so because I have no family with me and I feel very lonely right now. I live far from family and one of my friends was unable to be here with me. My other friend could not be here cuz she had to head back home to drive my boys back home, so I'm all alone????
On the bright side - I'm staying strong and waiting.

Hi! I live in Starke but my favorite restaurant is in Ocala and my husband and I always stop to eat there on the way to Orlando.
I don't think we truly understand how much control food had over us until we can't have it. Use this time to try to start your good habits because in a few months you'll be able to eat those foods again. I love the saying, "They did surgery on your stomach, not your brain." Definitely true! We still have to make the right choices.

I'm almost two weeks out and frustrated at my first stall, but this morning I got dressed for work and realized that the pants I had been able to just barely fit into before surgery are starting to get loose. They sit lower on my waist, are really roomy in the thighs, and no longer look like high-waters!

I am 4 months out. Happy with my weight loss so far. I am not limited as to what I can eat but definitely feel the restriction and get full fast. I started working out a lot, doing a lot of pilates, zumba, biking etc. I stay away from carbs and sweets (minus an occasional bite of a birthday cake). A couple of months ago I purchased the book "Ultimate Gastric Sleeve Success" and have found it really helpful. It's an excellent read for any sleever no matter what stage of the game you are at. In general, I'm feeling great and actually looking forward to summer now instead of dreading it in the past because of how heavy I was. Keep up the good work, thanks for sharing your journey everyone

Weekend motorcycle trip last weekend. Forgot my swimsuit. The swimsuit I got at a specialty swimsuit store and struggled over for HOURS when I hit goal range last year to choose. Walked into Walmart and bought a cheap bikini top and board shorts right off the rack without trying on. Brought them back to the hotel and OMG THEY FIT! (Well, I overestimated sizing a bit on the shorts, but they worked except when I dove in the about came off)! The point is Walmart swim top, (bikini swim top no less) off the shelf and it didn't look half bad!

I just had my 1 week follow up today and I am feeling pretty good. No pain and just a little gas. My incisions look great and I am down 7 pounds since surgery. I am back at work and I am excited to get to the gym, but my doctor is making me wait until I am 1 month out.

5 lbs to go to reach my 50 lbs mark. Can't wait either, because it will mean I only have 100 more to go to get to goal. I know it sounds like a lot but hey 45 lbs in 2.5 mos is pretty freaking awesome and has motivated me to keep up the good work.

Congratulations on your accomplishment! I reached 50 lbs mark this week as well (2-1/2 months out from surgery) but I still have another 50 lbs to go.
It is good to read success stories for they help me keep the faith and help me stay with the program.

    Grandma,
I know you are very determined to win, with that said weighing your self everyday could be quite depressing, even without wls. Most people I have heard from and I have chose to believe say once a week on the same scale at the same time of day. That's the best way to get the most consistent results. Wls journey is hard enough without the disappointment of a daily reminder. Your weight can and will fluctuate hang in there you'll get there. Brian

Glad everyone is doing good!! I am eating puree, drinking well but not getting my Protein in. I am doing ok with my Vitamins, but I need to figure out a plan, right now everyday is different and it's hard. I am able to sleep on my right side, I put an ice pack on the large scar every night when I go to bed to help with swelling and it seems to help. I have been weighing everyday and have hit a stall with weight but, I know I am still on track. My clothes are getting bigger everyday. I have an outfit hanging up I wore to Disney world about 8 years ago, which I would love to be able to wear again!!! I also have the motivation of my one year old grandson:) I started out at 260 lbs at my first weigh in Feb. 2015, surgery day I weighed (June 15) 240lbs. Today 229. I have lots more to go as my goal is 160-165.
    Please tell us your story!!

I can relate. I went through major mood swings the first month after surgery. I can tell you it gets better. I'm six weeks out now and feeling 100% better.

Hi - I haven't had any mood swings yet, (though I did get a little snappy at people when I ate a teeny bite of something I shouldn't have and was doubled over in pain) but my nutritionist warned me to expect them for the first six weeks as did the psych consult. They were really clear that depression and mood swings were absolutely normal and to be expected and wanted to make sure I'd reach out if I was having trouble with them. My nut said that the mood swings were in part because there's a lot of estrogen stored in fat and rapid weight loss can cause PMS like symptoms. I have to admit it was the first thing they said that really gave me pause. It was not a description I took lightly. My first week of weight loss has felt a little slow, so that's been discouraging based on the pain etc but I'm looking forward (???) to those mood swings that mean the weight loss is going well.
    - Oh and about the family eating thing? I'm soooo with you! I've been staying with my parents while I recover and while I'm choking down Protein drinks that taste AWFUL (am I the only one who thinks powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury has an aftertaste that tastes like bile???) my mother is making her usual unbelievably excellent french and Mediterranean cooking. I don't think I ever really appreciated what an amazing cook she is before.

Would love to chat with some locals! Or…is there a Facebook support group? I spend most of my time on Facebook (ha ha) as opposed to this website, and would love to chat with others there, in a group or just by private message. You can add me as a friend: www.facebook.com/heleneval
