I have had trouble with my band too. I would love to have mine taken out to but I'm also out of pocket. My band in the last 6 months have cause me terrible anxiety. I'm always worried if it has slipped then when I go to the Dr they say its just indigestion. It drives the crazy. I've only lost 40lbs overall. Mine was to tight in April. I had 0.4 cc taken out and now I've gained 10lbs n a month. I'm just lost on what to do.

I have had my band a little over a year. I'm looking to get mine removed too. I have been having complications consisting of terrible heartburn/acid reflux, not being able to keep my food down and discomfort. Anyone know of a good surgeon in the Phoenix area that does lap band removals? Any input would be greatly appreciated. ????

I have insurance and went thru a lot to get my band removal approved so I can only imagine the anxiety of paying out of pocket! I had my band for 5 years with constant problems. After a horrible experience with a routine fill last year (it took two Drs and a counted 27 needle pricks to get into the port), and an overfill causing severe swelling and vomiting, I made the decision to have it removed and revise to sleeve. I had to go through numerous tests to determine I had severe stricture (which is considered an approved medical malfunction for Aetna). In order to get it all approved though I also had to redo all of the behavioral and nutritional evals and 3 months of weigh ins before it could even be submitted to insurance. It was actually approved in the same day it was submitted but it was a major amount of work. If you have insurance, even the same you had during your original surgery, they may have changed their policy and might approve it now. I would recommend you speak with your insurance (if you have one) and then talk with your doctor about testing. Good luck!!

I guess i dont have enough issues where my insurance will pay it. So i dont know what the cost is if i had to pay out of pocket. I feel like my stomach stressed all the time. Never relax not sure if there anything wrong with my band. With my luck am sure everything is fine. Just tried of the stuck food and the hiccups and burping. Am pretty sure i dont want another fix. Am hoping with me exercising i can either lose me weight or just stay where am at. Glad things works out for u and good luck with ur new journey with the sleeve.

    Ya gotta eat!
    So eat!

Your appetite will very, very likely return. Enjoy this time of no temptation. But in the meantime also be sure you get enough good nutrition (Protein, veggies, fruits, as you can tolerate them).

My doc has me on 20mg daily for 3 months whether I need it or not. She said I can go to 40 mg if needed.

My revision was Jan 2015. Band placed in 2006 never worked for me, just caused me pain pain. Had a slip right away and had it replaced. Lost 50 pounds but in pain all the time.
I am so happy to have that "thing" out of me. Even with no fill, it felt like I had a knot in my stomach all the time.
The sleeve is just plain easier. *FOR ME....My doc said longer term there are much fewer complications with the sleeve because of no foreign object that can slip, fail, whatever.
    Best to you!

I think there is a dedicated section for sleeve to bypass revisions-- hope you connect with those knowledgeable folks! The most recently-active person with sleeve to bypass that I'm aware of is Band07. Best wishes & kudos for your tenacity in dealing with all that!

Well, I am only two months out and have lost about 31pounds since surgery (44 total) and I don't have anything earth shattering to say but I have some of my confidence back. I can walk into a room and not want to hide. For me, that is a huge deal! I also feel under control with my eating and that's a first for me.

I am 3 months postop.. I have lost 64 lbs and went from a size 20 to a 9/10. I feel great! There are days I want to throw the scale away but overall I did this surgery to be healthy! I had a hernia repair and prior to surgery was on all kinds of heartburn meds. For years I suffered from heartburn.. and not just a little! I always had acid in my throat! Ouch! The surgery corrected that immediately! I had no idea I was in that much pain from gerd! So.. the surgery for me not only helped me feel better about myself, I actually am in no more pain and the stomach meds are almost gone. (I still take a prilosec once daily to try to prevent an ulcer) loving this new me!

I asked the doc about the coffee, its the caffeine some people dehydrate too much to be safe drinking it, Decaf is acceptable.
