I have told some people but I preface it with "I will not debate nor hear any negative talk. If you can't support me then say nothing at all." So far I've only had one comment that was the least bit negative and once she understood I wasn't doing it just to be thin but for my health she switched up and completely supports me doing it now. I did find out that one of my closest friends spent time discussing whether or not I was up to committing to the changes needed. But I let it slide past me because she is speaking from HER choices - not mine. It's for me and mine that I am doing this. Their opinions are the only ones who matter. Everyone else can take a flying leap.

its your life, YOU have to live it NOT them. I did it because of the same reasons, pre-diabetic, HBP, and hit the scale one time and it read 282...I didn't want to wait and find out IF I COULD be 300lbs. I KNEW I could. I had been putting on about 10plus pounds a year.

I document as much as possible so I can see numbers and pictures to compare progress. I measure my bust, waist, hips, arms and thighs. It's not about the numbers. I have trouble seeing the progress when I look in the mirror so those tactics help me keep focus and reality that it's really happening.
I've had some great non number rewards already. Needing a belt for my normal pants that would slide right off, sitting in a movie theater with both arms down and having space, my seat belt doesn't lock up all the time, I don't hurt when I wake up anymore... these are the important successes!
I have to admit that the numbers are more fun than I thought they would be. I haven't been this size since my senior year of high school in 2000.

To date my decision to give myself this special gift is still PRIVATE and will remain so. My decision not to share was the best decision for me. Do what you believe is best for you.

I'm a very private person about every aspect of my life, and this is no different! My sister and I are doing this together, and the only people we're telling are my husband and our mom. We have a VERY large "southern" family where everyone is always in everyone else's business, so we expect the curious looks and the whispers. Nonetheless, we don't care one bit! We are excited about this new phase in our lives!

Here are a few progress pics at 8 months post -op. I can't be any happier with the results so far. Having this surgery has changed my life. I am so grateful for the all of the support I get here and elsewhere. Reading everyone's successes has been a true inspiration.

My Dr. said i can shower in the hospital the day after surgery.

I was told no immersion in Water or scrubbing the incision area until the incisions were healed but that showering was fine.

I showered next day in the hospital. Got ok for tub bath at 2 weeks after surgeon looked at healing. Told me to wait one more week before swimming.

Yep. Took a shower the next day. Incisions were covered in superglue or something like that.

I had a shower at the hospital the day after surgery, so yes you will be able to shower.

Battling hunger, head or otherwise, is no joke. Why be critical of someone struggling? We are all here because we have, or have had issues with food. OP, don't give up, and don't beat yourself up, just pick yourself up, and keep trying. You will get there.
