  2. Has anyone gotten to goal with little/no exercise? For those that have reached goal, is it hard to stop losing once you get there?
  3. her1981

    Getting to goal...

Thanks. I was curious because my exercise has not been consistent at all. I am trying to find some consistency because I'd like to maximize my losses, but it's difficult. I don't get much exercise, except for walking, but I'm finding that that is definitely not enough.

  6. I feel like the VSG surgery really saved my life, not just because it's helping me to lose the weight I couldn't lose on my own, but because it uncovered a couple of health problems that had gone unnoticed in my regular checkups, even pregnancy. During my vsg, the surgeon discovered a tumor on my stomach. They sent it to oncology and it was malignant. It was on the portion of my stomach that was removed, so it's no longer an issue, but I shudder to think what would've happened had I not sought the vsg. Then, during the pre-op testing they discovered a staghorn kidney stone on my left kidney. I had to see a urologist and the stone is so large and the "horns" are so long that I have to have surgery to have it removed. The doctor wants me to get down to about 250 pounds so that he can safely do the surgery. Luckily, it hasn't damaged my kidney. Again, what would've happened if I hadn't gotten the vsg? I also have gall stones, but the surgeon decided to leave my gallbladder as long it's not bothering me. So, I'm grateful for my sleeve, but "angry" with my body. But then if I hadn't gotten so fat, I wouldn't have known about all these issues. I'm in a fog and feel overwhelmed by all of this. Can anyone relate?

I totally agree :D Looking forward to being -100lbs, which is 12 lbs away. I think I am going to write to Santa and ask if the diet elves can visit me between now and then. It would make my New Years 2016 wish too!

    Concerned about memory loss

I was doing some research about my anemia and iron deficiency and read that it causes decreased mental function, so i may have 2 things at play. I do feel better mentally since I've started taking the iron supplement, so maybe that's it.

Opps, sorry, the link disapeared...https://www.ted.com/talks/elizabeth_loftus_the_fiction_of_memory I listened to it. Are you suggesting that maybe my memory wasn't that good to begin with and I imagined that I had a better memory? lol

    Concerned about memory loss

@@OKCPirate OK, so based on some basic research, there is a link between ghrelin and memory. There are no (free) definitive studies; however, there is indication that the reduction in ghrelin does affect the memory. Apparently, the hormone stimulates the portions of the brain involved with making memories. This also explains why my memory was so great pre-sleeve, lol
