  1. Think about it like final destination. If it is your time, it is your time. Nothing will save you.
  2. That was my fear. I decided I would roll the dice because at worst I would die while I was still young and pretty, or I could keep getting fatter and die older and not as pretty. They take so many precautions now, I think the chances of dying on the table are really slim.
  3. She has already lost the bulk of her weight, she is around 200lbs now. Any weight she drops from now is going to be at a basically normal pace and not a WLS surgery pace. Women don't drop weight at the rate men do, and people that see you often don't notice it. Finally men are dumb, and if the sex is good he will believe whatever she tells him.
  4. There is no reason to tell some dude you are banging for the winter your life story when you are going to ditch him as soon as the weather changes. I doubt he is passing his credit report and recommendations from former lovers across the table. If you aren't in a serious relationship there is no reason to disclose. People lose weight naturally all the time, the majority of normal people don't assume you are losing because of surgery especially when you work out and eat properly.
  5. At 6 weeks I felt closer to normal. At 3 months I felt like a normal person. Your stomach growling is probably your intestines working or as someone else said, acid.
  6. I really disagree with this. No one knows about my surgery and no one is raising the red flags. I am very active every day, and the way I eat has changed. People that are already thin and healthy (both of those are key), are not concerned about rapid weight loss. Mainly because you are still fat to them. Tell him hernia repair. You might have to have your gall bladder out later, so you don't want to tell that one, but a hernia repair can match the scars. In spite of what some people on here think, there is no reason to tell everyone you meet that you had surgery. I have been dating someone for almost 2 months and he is non the wiser about my surgery even though I have lost probably 20-30lbs since I have met him and I don't eat that much. Lots of thin women don't eat that much either, it isn't some crazy red flag to normal people.
  7. The best thing for your hair is to strengthen it from the inside out. Collagen supplements, keratin supplements, MSM, making sure your Iron level are good, and maybe adding in extra Zinc. If your hair is falling out at the root, no cream or butter is going to help. I had a bad experience with some braids a few years ago, and I regrew my edges with collagen supplements and these vitamins http://www.sephora.com/phytospecific-cap-energy-dietary-supplement-P376055
  8. Try a collagen supplement and make sure your nails are well oiled.
  9. Contrary to what you see on forums, most people with the exception of men, don't lose in the first 2 weeks after surgery. You are full of IV fluids, and swollen. Your body has had major trauma, and it is recovering. If you don't eat you aren't going to lose any weight, If you want to lose, push fluids, drink all the Water you can, and eat according to your program.
  10. Because Protein shakes are full of artificial sweeteners and chemicals. Once I was eating fish and veggies, the weight came off quickly. Also I had more energy and could walk more. At 6 weeks I was walking 2 miles a day. I walk 3-5 miles a day now (just depends on my work schedule). Once you have more energy and can be more active and eat real food, not processed stuff, I think the weight comes off faster. Everyone is different. If you are meeting your protein and Water goals the weight will come off. When you see people posting about not losing or failing long term, they usually end up admitting they were not getting in protein and water, but were eating junk slider foods because they go down easy. Follow your program and the weight comes off, this is science not magic.
  11. Cucumber slices if you can have raw veggies at 6 weeks. just slice them thin.
  12. Well you haven't failed. Maybe you need to find a better program though.
  13. I got to bars all the time. I just make sure they have hot wings that are not coated. Most places have classic hot wings. I also ask and make sure that the sauce doesn't have sugar.
  14. My program was 3 months. What does your doctor say?
  15. I eat spicy food and did from 6 weeks on. My tastes have not changed, but since I eat so little I am really picky about quality.
  16. Are you dating while in process of weight loss? Yes, even though I said I would wait. My mood was so up beat, and well winter is upon so I decided to date once I got a handle on things, after 3 months. Do you divulge that you've had a bariatric surgery to your date? Nope. I haven't told and I won't tell unless I am sure it is a long term thing heading towards commitment. And for all the people that are going to ask, no my eating etc does not really stand out. What kind of responses did you get? N/A Are you waiting until your close to goal to start dating do you can focus on yourself? I live alone and work for myself so my whole life is basically focused on myself. Dating a few times a week, is a welcome distraction. I am dating someone that is active and goes to the gym, so their lifestyle compliments mine.
  17. This is really a mirror of what has been going on with us. I realize now I have never really dated a real man before, not like this. We had just enough age difference that things between us communication style can be difficult. I had to really fight my urge to break it off just because of my own issues and insecurities. I would rather be the dumper than the dumpee, but I was really far off base. The feelings are mutual, they are just not communicated the same way. So I am learning patience and being humbled.
  18. I can make it through a day without eating my feelings. That is huge for me.
  19. This sounds like my guy. He claims guys like him never get the girl. A younger me would have worked that to my advantage, but instead, I tell him how great he is all the time. How special and rare I think he is. I want him to feel appreciated. He might not be "the one" but I have found my unicorn for the time being. He isn't everything I normally like, but everything I normally like hasn't got me what I needed. He is exactly what I need at this time, and a lot of the things I want. Fingers crossed for us both. Also, at least the kids are teens, sure teens take a lot of time with their activities, but there is a sell by date on them. They aren't toddlers or in elementary school, so the light at the end of the tunnel is real close.
  20. Try walking instead of working out. I am losing more weight walking than I ever did doing serious exercise.
  21. I went from a 28 to a 20 in 4 months. You might be a lot smaller than you think in April. I think an 18 would be a safer bet, especially if it is stretchy.
  22. Before surgery physical hunger wasn't my issue, head hunger was. Once I worked through my emotional issues with head hunger, I was in the right head space for surgery. Fast forward to now, I have to basically force myself to eat. It is getting worse with each passing week. I have little interest in food, and zero hunger. It is important to get your Protein in, so weigh, measure, make a schedule and stick to it. Just because you aren't hungry or are not interested in food doesn't mean your body doesn't have needs.
  23. I connected with someone here on the forums and we have been WLS buddies. We have almost the same surgery date. We try to keep each other motivated and on track. In addition to texting each other we are fitbit buddies also, so we can push each other to be active. Since almost no one that knows me knows about my surgery and I don't really have any overweight friends, making this connection has been very important to me in my weight loss. I really encourage people to seek out a weight loss peer who had surgery around the same time as you so you can have someone to share this experience with. I tell my WLS buddy a lot of things I don't tell anyone else or post on forums because I know they are going through similar issues.
