I96 got a reaction from Lallylocks in What is your most embarrassing NSV?
Biggest shocker - I was at the VA with my husband. The bathroom had a full length mirror on the back of the door. I didn't recognize myself. Pants baggy, sagging everywhere and my shirt falling off my shoulders. I was so embarrassed to realize I looked that way! I had a play to attend that evening so I took a chance on JCPenny and actually found a nice pair of fitting slacks! First time I had shipped successfully in a retail store and not there largest size either! Shopped in my closet for a better fitting blouse and jacket. I felt like a new person that night. A great outcome from a most embarrassing moment.

I was carrying groceries and stuff into the house one day. Our garage is along the alley behind our house, so it's a long walk down through the yard to get to the back door. By the time I got to the door, my too-big pants were nearly off my butt and had taken my too-big underwear with them!

I am 4 months out. I only eat 2 oz of protein at a sitting! It makes me full. I eat about 3oz total at any meal time.

Oh I hope you can find at least 1 friend to share this with. I was so happy to have my son to run to the store for me the first night when I needed Fiber and Imodium like right now! I am not driving yet and that night I had taken pain meds too. Just sharing the little things like how awful my liquid meds taste makes me feel better. You can post to me for on line support too. Good luck.

My surgery is coming up on Wednesday! Only 2 more days. I have chosen to tell very few people, my 3 adult sons, my husband, and one close friend. I am so ready for this, but am also sure I don't want negativity in my life right now. I will be talking to my 98 year old dad tomorrow and want to tell him, but won't. He is half way across the country and so are my 2 sisters - whom he would tell for sure. They would not be supportive. My sister had a chance to do this several years ago and was talked out it by my mom and other sister I'm sure. They never had to struggle with weight and I can I can still feel the silence that followed my positive reaction to her news. Still feels bad and sad. Anyway, thanks for starting this thread. I needed to vent I guess. I am so ready. Good luck to all of you!

I96, prayers for you on your surgery tomorrow. Can't wait to hear about your experience afterward. I won't see my surgery until around late January, so I love to read about everyone's success! Wishing you all the best for your recovery, and future weight loss!

This is a great topic! I appreciate you for bringing this up @ellie123. I think that you pretty much answered your question for yourself on what would be best to do. But, if I could offer my two cents I'll tell you how I'm going to handle this. At first I was on the fence about telling anyone (other then my wife of course). The big thing with getting this surgery I find is the mental edge you have to keep. It's already so hard having this issue with food, and worrying about the scale and just the overall stress of the surgery in itself. People are going to judge. That's just want people do. So go into this knowing that. With that being said if I were in your shoes I wouldn't tell anyone who DOESN'T need to know. This is your decision and it's your life. People have to realize and understand that it is okay for YOU to make a decision in your life for yourself. One thing that really bugs me is people who don't have a weight problem and other obesity related issues can actually have the NERVE to even suggest that I should try something different. I told my Aunt with my wife that I was getting the surgery and her and my Uncle just jumped down my throat like if you've already lost 25 pounds you can lose 100 pounds, it might two you 3 years to do it but you can do it. The fact that she said that tells me that she just doesn't understand. I had to tell her because we need her to keep our son during the time I'm in the hospital. But, I will NOT be telling any other family members. The reason why I've done so well with my life change so far is because I have no added stress. People don't know I'm on a change (with my eating and working out) I don't broadcast it. I already have sooo much other stuff to worry about. After the surgery once I start losing weight faster I know that people will ask. And a few of my friends who I know won't judge me I'll tell. Other's I'll just say I've changed my life learning about weight and nutrition. It's not lying because that's exactly what he all are doing. We're changing how we look at food and how it pertains to our lives. I hope you decide to not bring more added stress to your life and keep it between yourself until you get to a point where you can handle telling people. Good luck @Ellie123. Also, congrats on your 5 pounds lost. Keep it up!

I feel the same. I would rather have something salty or even bland at this point.

I'm having mine Tuesday, November 3rd! I'm so ready to be on the losers bench. I'm on Day 12 of my liquid diet which is all Clear Liquids and 3 Meal Replacements a day which consist of either a powdered flavored shake, powdered pudding or powdered Soup. I've lost 14 lbs so far and ready for this part to be over. I wish all of you the best of luck with your surgeries and I'll see you on the other side????????

I heard from a YouTube video that the broth tastes better if you cook actual chicken noodle Soup and then strain out the broth.

Tried canned broth but it tastes greasy or fatty. It's the low fat kind. I need something not so sweet.

I had several food funerals before my pre-op diet. I am 11 months post-op...started with a BMI of 53...down to 32 (150 lbs lost). Continued success to everyone!

Perfectly normal to want the last tastes. I spent my last month before surgery having those last tastes (shockingly, I didn't gain weight).
I started at a BMI of 63.1 and 403 pounds. Now, 79 days later, I've lost 74 pounds and my BMI is down to 51.5. I'm happy with my progress.

Just got a date today! November 11th. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I have only shared my journey with my husband, 3 sons and one friend; none of whom 'get'it. I haven't really used this forum before today and today I need all of you. Good luck on your journey. I know we can do this together!

    Hi there,
I just got a surgery date of November 10th. I am very excited but nervous as well. Was wondering if anyone else was having surgery on or around that date? Maybe we could support each other through the pre op diet and the rest of this journey?
    Cheers!
