  1. Hi @@megieg I have an office job as well... I was sleeved on the Wednesday, released from hospital on Saturday and had the entire following week off... I had no pain and no problems and feel I could have returned to work on the Monday rather than taking the extra week... Of course, this isn't for everyone, but assuming things go as smoothly for you as they did for me, I'd say an early return to work is possible.. Your best bet is to talk to your surgeon... And remember, this is some pretty serious surgery, no matter how pain free and relatively easy the recovery is (for lucky ones like me)... Good luck with it all.. Kinda..
  2. How long post surgery are you? What are you eating? Liquids/soft foods tend to sit much more comfortably in the sleeve than the firmer foods later down the track. I didn't experience any pain at all, nor any sense of restriction until I started on the firmer foods. Once I was on those, it quickly became apparent that my ability to eat large amounts had become greatly reduced. Of course, this is simply my experience... Others will have a different reply.. Ultimately, if you;re concerned, talk to your surgeon/support people... They generally know their stuff.. Kinda...
  3. And as far as cordials go, Cottees 'Coola' flavour is THE BEST!!!
  4. Hi @@NaomiAus I did four week of Optifast... It sucked!!! But in the end it was more than worth the misery... Stay strong with it... And come in here and let off steam every time you need to... Good luck to you!!!
  5. I know I'm late to this conversation and for that I apologise... I just want to have one thing confirmed before I go... Size doesn't matter... Is that right? Because if so... Wooooohooooooooo... That is all...
  6. No words of wisdom nor any advice... Just best wishes and congratulations... But if you've any questions, this really is the place to ask them...
  7. The "best" protein powder is whichever powder you'll happily drink for the next however long... Yes, there are some that have more protein/less carbs etc than others but ultimately it'll be about your ability and willingness to consume the stuff two or three times a day. My personal favourites are as follows... Syntrax Nectar - Fuzzy Navel Syntrax Matrix - Bananas & Cream Syntrax Matrix - Strawberry Cream
  8. I had the same thoughts.. This was my first surgery and it freaked me the &%#* out... But even pre-op, the possible benefits far outweighed the risk.. Good luck to you @@HealthyRN
  9. @@LMolina1987 I wasn't required to take such pills after my surgery. I gave myself daily injections for anti-clotting and took a liquid Vitamin. That was all... I understood you were after less "Ewwwy" suggestions for ways to take your crushed pills... Crushing said pills and mixing them with honey is simply one such suggestion...
  10. Can you mix the crushed pill with a little honey? I know it's pretty sugary but it's better than not getting the pills into you...
  11. You're up to it... If you weren't, this slip-up wouldn't be freaking you out so much... Ok, so you've screwed up... We all do it now and then... Acknowledge it, accept it and move on... Now is the important time... This is the part where you make your decision... It's one way or the other... Knuckle down and get your shit together... Or don't... I'd say you'll get your shit together... Especially if you read the success stories that are floating around in this forum... Good luck to you @ Let me know how you're getting along...
  12. Congrats ladies!!! And also, well done to the gents who managed to shoot and score!!! Kinda...
  13. Do you have to let your ‘fat self’ go? You are still her. She is still you. You’re the same, real person. Her memories are your memories. Her fears, your fears. Hopes, dreams, likes, dislikes… All shared. That part of you hasn’t changed. What’s changed is your ability to do something about those fears, hopes, dreams etc… Fat is what you were, not who you were. Fat didn’t define you. It may have ruled how you were, but it didn’t rule who you were. It may have influenced your decisions, but it didn’t have the final say. It may have been what held you back, but it wasn’t what held you down. It’s only your shell that was fat. Your outer layer. Your physicality. Your brain wasn’t fat. Your mind… Your soul… Not fat. These things remain the same. What’s changed is the vessel in which these things (and more) are contained. Old you versus new you is old shoes versus new shoes. The old shoes are comfortable but they’re not functional. They’re easy to put on and easy to take off but they provide you with no support. The new shoes are clean, shiny and look really good. They’re not tarnished with years of wear. They don’t have the mark on them from being kicked and trodden on repeatedly. New shoes take a bit of getting used to, but with a little patience, their true value quickly becomes apparent. Of course, there’s always the option to go back to your old shoes… But when it comes down to it, you know that your heart now belongs to your new shoes. They're the same shoes... They just look different... Of course, this may all be the rambling jibber-jabber of a crazy man… Or I may be using this as an excuse to get some of my own thoughts or insecurities out in the open… But maybe, just maybe, I’m onto something… I guess time will tell… And @@bellabloom Time is something that you've given yourself... Apologies if this entire post makes no sense... Kinda..
  14. - How long ago was your procedure? Feb 25 2015. 7 1/2 months ago - What was your starting BMI and what is it now? Didn't do BMI, but my loss has been approx 150lb to date, which is just over half way to 'target'. I started at over 500 pounds... - if you could magically go back in time and revisit your decision, would you still get the sleeve procedure? Without doubt. The difference I'd make would be to have it sooner.
  15. I don't even like pumpkin flavoured pumpkin...
  16. Oh crap... That should have read as follows.. "Well, that and Babbs... " My mistake...

  22. I wasn't... Well, not in the 12 months leading up to surgery.. I was inactive at work, after work, etc... And also, I was 500+ pounds... So I really didnt have a lot working in my favour...
  23. I'm similar to @@liannatx High pain tolerance and fast healer... I was 3 days in hospital (Op on Wed-Discharged on Saturday morning)... Then another week off work... However, I really could have gone back to work after the weekend of my discharge.. Everyone is gonna be different... Just remember, it's major surgery... Take your surgeon's advice... They tend to know their stuff... Good luck to you @@haleymarie
