  1. Hi fellow Shrinkos! I was banded on May 6. I am still feeling blah. Today is better, though. It hurts to get out of bed. My gas pain is in my lower abdomen, not my shoulder at all. I am walking like a feind because I don't want to sit down or lay down (it hurts to get up). That may be helping my gas move down. Also (beware of TMI...) I am having mild diarrhea. How can I? I am only drinking Water and tiny sips of apple juice?!? Anyway, it feels weird knowing that I have a band inside me. It's like being pregnant before you can feel it. Good luck to my fellow May Bandsters! I will post more as I am able.
  2. What about My Buddy? Remember the jingle? "My Buddy, My Buddy, Wherever I go, He goes. My Buddy, My Buddy, I'll take him everywhere that I go. My Buddy and me like to climb up a tree, My Buddy and me...we're the best friends that can be!"
  3. I absolutely love Shrinko de Mayo! Thanks for the cute logo.
  4. I am totally scared that it is not going to work. I do love food, and it is so easy and convenient. Plus, my husband and kids love to eat so it will be challenging. Also, I am more nervous with the more people who know because now I feel like they will be looking and watching for the weight loss. We will just have come to this board very often...
  5. Thanks feelgoodagain. Surgery is 2 days, huh? Good luck, and I am sure it will go great! Let us know asap how it went. I'll be sending prayers and good thoughts...
  6. I am added to May 6! And, BTW, I love the phrase "Shrinko dr Mayo". :blushing:
  7. First it is so great to hear all of you getting dates and the "ducks in a row". We are so close. I had a little setback today in my pre-op diet. I had to have an upper GI, which they made me take this drink that was so gross, I felt disgusted afterwards. Then I had to wait an hour to fill out some stupid formas. I couldn't believe it. If this were anythimg like my job, I would never get called to work!!!! Anyway... I was desperate to get the foul tast out of my mouth, so I stopped at Carl's Jr. and got a BBQ chicken sandwich. No fries, not too bad, right. Well, I fell hard and ate two, that is right, 2, cookies. :blushing: Their cookies are big and on WW they are 8 points each. I am getting right back on my pre-op diet though. Please send good thoughts my way to keep me in line. Thanks everyone. I really appreciate this place and all the support and positive feedback we give each other. BTW, I have 1 week!!!
  8. I'd also actually like to have a waist. And I want to be happy to have my pics taken, too!
  9. Salem's Lot!!!
  10. You are NOT old!!! I am 35 and I am NOT old!!!
  11. Oh, let's not forget "Can't Buy Me Love" starring Patrick "Dr. McDreamy" Dempsey.
  12. What a great thread!!! I have to chime in: Footloose, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (the movie) Depeche Mode, The Cure, U2, OMD, My first concert was Wired, Thomas Dolby (She Blinded Me with Science), OMD (If you Leave), and Depeche Mode- The Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA June 1988!!!! Does anyone remember Queensryche or Motorhead?
  13. I have a bunch of goals- 1. Obviously a healthier lifestyle 2. I want my husband to not be able to keep his hands off of me! 3. There are a lot of moms from my kids school who are in excellent shape. I want to be looked at like they are looked at by them, their husbands, and their kids! Is that shallow?!? 4. I think being healthier will improve my work potential. More clients will want to use me. 5. I want to look hot for my 20 year reunion. I know there are mor, but these are the most salient to me right now. Good luck everyone. BTW, I agree about Kate Winslet. She has a beautiful body.
  14. Allison, also try calling your insurance company to make sure they have your paperwork. And ask if there is anything else you can do to help speed the process up. Good luck!
  15. I work for a company that you have to be a member with in order to buy. It is internet order and basically asks you to switch shopping at other stores for some of the items that you use regularly. They sell nutrition items, cleaning items, body care items and more. And their products are safer for the environment than most found in stores. If anyone is really interested, private message me and I'll help you sign up.
  16. My doctor also did not give me a pre-op diet. But my research shows that the less fatty the liver, the easier the surgery and recovery. So I am trying to shrink my liver for that purpose. I've cut out carbs and sweets. I mostly drink Protein Shakes. I buy from this company I am involved in that has a really good shake- mocchachino!!! MMMMmmm. But it is rather tedious and I slipped again last night from the shakes, but in an acceptable way. I had a turkey patty, a slice of tomato and cottage cheese. Plus, as of today, I've lost 4 lbs! Yeah!
  17. Try again in a week and tell them that your phone has been acting up
  18. I was persisitent and called the surgeon's office frequently
  19. The excitement in this thread is palpable!!! I have 10 more days. I am on this liquid Protein diet, and I am doing very well. However, I did slip a little last night . Not bad, but I was a little disappointed, and yet proud of myself also. We are my son's soccer treats this week, and my DH (dear husband) decided to make cupcakes. How sweet for the team, but oh the smell killed me!!!! Then, he ran out of time before work, and could not frost them. So I had to. I had a tbsp of frosting and it was divine. I could have finished the tub of frosting in like a minute, butttttt...I had a serving of cottage cheese instead. I would never have done this before. So even though I wish I had not lapped up that frosting, I was more than proud of my restraint and alternative. And CC has protein, which is what I am supposed to be on. Plus, I stepped on the scale today and lost 4 pounds since this Liquid Protein diet. Woo-hoo!!!
  20. Hey Allison, Put down the food and get out of the house!!! I totally know how you feel. I did not think that I was an emotional eater either...until I realized I had a personal party every night after my kids went to bed. My husband works late and the kids are difficult (my son has autism), so I have taken to eating and reading or watching TV when the kids are in bed. I realize that I did it to help my stress. Well, a lot of good that did. Now I am obese, scared of getting the Big 3 (High BP, High Cholest., or diabetes), and sick of the way I llook and feel. That is what we are remembering. So, I am now on day 3 of liquid diet, and when I want to reach for food, I as myself, "is inhaling this food more important than my health and my surgery?" Allison, good luck, and come back here when you want to eat!!! We'll support you and talk with you.
  21. Yeah!! You did it! I am so happy for you. I alos just found this thread, and am struggling with the same thoughts. I am terrified that I will get my Band and it will work like everything else- lose some, gain more back. I will NOT let that happen!!! My surgery date is in 13 days, so I am doing my pre-op diet, and today I was in hell, but now I am like, Heh this isn't so bad. Maybe I can just do this. But I know I can't. Good luck ceinman, and everyone else!
  22. Thanks Kamicola, that is true!!! Thanks for the supportive words...
  23. Welcome all new May Flowers! I started my liquid diet today to shrink the liver, and boy!, is it difficult. But I heard that by day 4, I will be like, "Who needs food? This is great!" We will see if I feel that way... I scheduled some of my pre-op appts today. Friday I do bloodwork. Wednesday I see my PCP for medical clearance and an EKG. Then I will schedule my Upper GI. I am so excited! Only 13 days... BTW, I had something happen that I was hoping to avoid. I realized a couple of weeks ago that my 20 year reunion is in a couple of years, and I should look fantastic by then (I never thought that was possible). I did not go to my 10 year for various reason, one of which was my weight. I was hoping that no one from high school would see me looking this way :tt2: I was at The Coffee Bean ( I had to get in my last blended mocha for a long time!) and this hot guy says, "Angie?". Well, since high school I am known as Angela, just cause of work and such. So whenever someone calls me Angie, I know they are from my past or family. So I was like, "yeah?" And he goes, I am so and so. Remember? Well this guy had a crush on me in high school. And I liked him as a friend, but not more than. And now I'm thinking he's probably relieved that he didn't ever date me! The worst is, well besides that he is HOT, he still talks to a bunch of guys from high school so now they will all know that I am obese! It sucks!!! Oh well! What can I do but just keep on my path to better health!
  24. I am two weeks until surgery!!! I am SOOOO excited, but also a little nervous. What if I still can't lose the weight? What a total failure I am if I have surgery and still end up fat?!? I finally told my thin sister. I was very nervous to tell her about it because I thought that she would be like, "just use willpower". She has made comments like that in the past... She was very supportive of my decision. Anyway, I am excited, but a little anxious, too. Don't get me wrong- not anxious enough to think that I am making a mistake. I know that I need to do this while I am still young (BTW, 35 is still young! ) and in relative good health.
  25. Is anyone starting their protein diet to shrink the liver this week? My doctor merely suggested it, but from what I've heard, healing is easier if your liver is smaller? I believe I will be starting my liquid protein diet on Thursday- 10 days before surgery...
