@@sbg224 - get some flax powder or psyllium powder. Add a tsp to yogurt, applesauce , etc... each day. Make sure you get all your fluids in. It will help regulate. Try to get some fesh veg or fruit in at least once a day.

I had mine done on August 7. Everything seems to be going well. I'm on regular foods now but not in any kind of hurry to go back to my pre-sleeve habits. I had the lap-band from May, 2011 to December, 2014 with several painful experiences with food getting stuck. I don't want any repeats! Since my heaviest pre-surgery, I've lost 36 pounds. Two weeks of that was my pre-op diet. But a lose is a lose!

All of the above but my new favorite is ThredUp.com they send you a bag and you mail it back (postage paid) and they either give you shopping credit or PayPal money for good condition stuff and the "rejects" are donated to charity.
Then you can shop for nice gently used stuff on their site or app.
If you get someone to invite you to use it you get $20 credit to use immediately to shop and can request a "clean out" bag even if you aren't shopping!
If anyone wants a code for the $20 (which can be applied to shipping costs to so you can get an item or two totally free!) PM me your email and I will send one!

I have chosen to make this surgery, and the way I live my life now, a total lifestyle change. Meaning, I will eat/drink this way for the rest of my life in order to maintain my weight loss and not regain everything 5 years down the road. For me, that means all things in moderation. I lost 70 lbs several years ago, eating no carbs, drinking no alcohol, basically starving myself, and of course - it was not sustainable, and I wound up at 323 lbs. I am determined not to make that same mistake again.
Unless you are a nun or have decided to give up your social life entirely, it's kind of ridiculous to think that you will NEVER EVER touch alcohol (or French fries, or a cupcake, or whatever) again. A healthy relationship with food is about making good choices as much as possible, indulging occasionally, and being active.
That being said: OP, when I have a beverage I generally have a small glass of wine; but since that has been ruled out, my suggestions are....
Vodka with lime juice and a splash of simple Syrup
Vodka with light cranberry juice (sometimes the bar has it, sometimes not)
Or, my favorite, a Bloody Mary ???? vodka and v8, basically
I am 9 months out and 120 lbs down, and still dropping. I eat carbs and drink wine occasionally, as a treat. Has that made my weight loss slower? Maybe. Is this lifestyle something I can keep up the rest of my life? Absolutely.

For me, I had no nausea and minimal pain. It wasn't so bad doing the stages of eating, it went by pretty fast. Take measurements if you haven't already so when you hit those stalls you can see inches coming off when the scale doesn't move. Don't get frustrated when you can't drink much at first, drink as much as you can it DOES get better.
    Good luck!

Not being able to have solid foods for the first 20 days sucks. Watching TV commercials is brutal. I don't think I realized how many food advertisements there were until I couldn't have it hahaha.... The gas pains were bad the first 2 days. No problem after that. Honestly, the gas was probably the worst part. Today is day 6 for me and I almost feel back to normal. No problems drinking adequate amount of fluids and Water. I just keep thinking about pizza haha.
BUT, I got on the scales this morning and I'm already down 20 pounds in just a little over 2 weeks. So it's all worth it. It's awesome fitting into old clothes I haven't worn in years. Good luck to you.

I'm on day 1 and I agree that it does suck! I have to be on mine for 2 weeks and my surgery is August 11. Today I really enjoyed a vanilla Premier Protein drink blended with one banana and 10 almonds. I threw it in my ninja and it was really good! Other then that I starved!

Just suggest other things to do besides going to dinner. I'm in the DFW area and there are so many fun things to do. Eventually you'll reveal you've had WLS but it shouldn't really matter. I've been on plenty of dates (have Lapband) and just don't worry about it.

Hi All! I'm scheduled for August 6th. I agree that time seems to be crawling by. My surgeon has me starting the shakes/liquid diet a week from tomorrow. I'm tempted to pig out on all my favorite junk foods that I'll never eat again (at least not for a LOOOONG time) but I know I'd hate myself afterward. It's taken me months to lose 10 lbs and I'm sure without too much effort I could gain it back in a week! Been reading about the regret some folks feel immediately post surgery, like they've made a huge mistake by getting sleeved. Also heard from folks in a local sleeve support group to expect substantial hair loss. Trying to stay positive and feel empowered about doing this but definitely a little scared. Can anyone relate??

Hi all! I am new to this site and am having the VSG on July 30th (in 10 days!) .. I am currently on day 5 of my Liquid Protein diet. my doctor wants me to have 5 shakes a day. in addition I can have sugar free Jell-O, sugar free popsicles, crystal light and other sugar free drinks. that's pretty much it, no food at all. the first couple of days were really tough but I got through them.. I seem to struggle the most with being around my family when they're snacking (chips, icecream, etc) and when they're cooking dinner, the smell really gets to me! I'm searching for a buddy that's in the same stage as me to talk to and see if we have any advice for each other. also, anyone that has already gone through this that has some helpful advice!! I wouldn't say i'm having doubts about surgery, i'm just SUPER nervous and very hungry lol. anyone who wants to reach out it would be greatly appreciated!!
