tryinagain2day got a reaction from DGM in Anyone with successful weight loss with the gastric sleeve that had NO success with the lap band?
I was banded in 2012, lost only 25lbs. I yoyo'd for the next year with fill/unfill repeatedly. In 2013, they couldn't find anything wrong with the band but went ahead and unfilled the band. I gained over 75lbs before doing revision in July 2015. I am down 96lbs since my revision and no complications.

tryinagain2day got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Surgeon said revision's 50/50 failure!?
I can share my results from revision: banded in 2/2012, lost 25lbs gained 80. Revision 71/2015 and have lost 105lbs so for me is was successful. I say that any surgery, there's always the risk not failure.

tryinagain2day reacted to ld33 in 4 years post op and regain
Hi, my primary care doctor told me I should expect to lose, then regain a little and my body/weight would stabilize there. That was from her experience with sleeve patients

tryinagain2day reacted to chandra84 in 3 month surgiversary (B&A)
My surgery was a breeze. These first 3 months were a breeze. Of course there were ups and downs, WAY more ups, but I am extremely pleased with my journey. I'm down 57lbs in 3 months. The red hair was taken on December 4th the other one was taken 2 days shy of 3 months.

tryinagain2day reacted to grandmaofone in Foods for camping in cold weather?
You will need to dress in an extra layer as after some have had surgery and lose some of the fat insulation they get cold. As far as camping I went camping at about one month out from surgery and did fine!

tryinagain2day reacted to Kindle in Self pay and could cry over the amount, couple of questions
My insurance didn't cover WLS at all. I paid $6500 at Obesity Control Center in TJ. Dr. Ariel Ortiz is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Bariatric Surgeon of Excellence. His facility is an International Center of Excellence. He's proctored dozens of US and Canadian surgeons in laparoscopic technique, performed over 16,000 bariatric surgeries and has a complication rate 1/10 that of the US average. I had an easy, pain free recovery and was back to work in 7 days. Excellent postop communication and even at 2 years out they continue to monitor my progress. My PCP is so impressed he is recommending OCC to his patients that dont have WLS insurance.
If you can't get things straightened out with your local doctor and insurance, you should look at the great surgical options offered elsewhere.
