ReadyFourChange reacted to 2006RNYhere in Burning in stomach
It is strange but I get that burning sensation when I have an empty stomach and I drink Water. I have no clue why that is but mine only happens with water. I am 9.5 years out of rny and have had that problem since 2yr post op. I had it looked at and no problems leaks or ulcer. It was simply a change of ph in my intestines.

Well I must say, I'm happy I'm not the only one. I keep trying coffee but so far no luck. Thanks to all for the responses.

ReadyFourChange got a reaction from kdvr in Coffee taste is gone :(
I'm 11 months out and I loved coffee before surgery. Afterward I couldn't stand it at all!! I kept trying to drink it though because I missed it so much. After about 6 months I could choke down a half of a cup. Now I have a cup every morning and I enjoy it but not like I used to.

Please get this checked out! I had pains for about a month as you described and did nothing until I woke up one night in the worst pain of my life. Turns out I had a perforated ulcer. I had surgery and was in the hospital for a week. I almost and could have died. I will also note that I did everything by the book after my RNY. No caffeine no nsaids etc. I was by no means at high risk for an ulcer. It could have been prevented if I acted on my instincts about the burning pain, I wouldn't want what happened to me to happen to anyone.

Hmmm! Acid Reflux should be resolved by having RNY, not make it worse. Are you eating really spicy foods? Are you taking Omeprezole/Prilosec? I definitely would consult with your surgeon. Hope it goes away and there aren't any real issues! Good Luck!

I get it from time to time...I have to watch spicy foods...and because I am eating very little carbs I have to be mindful to keep myself alkaline.
smoothies or Protein Shakes with coconut or almond milk helps

ReadyFourChange reacted to James Marusek in Rapid heart rate, beating hard
Rapid heart rate and dizziness could be a sign of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), specifically reactive hypoglycemia. Symptoms occur generally within 4 hours after a meal.
When you ingest too much sugar, your now smaller stomach does not digest it properly so your intestines absorb and deposit too much of it into your blood stream. Your body compensates by releasing more insulin which makes your blood sugar drop.

Hi there I just went through the same issue . I'm almost 4 weeks out and it started when I was two weeks out. I literally feel like I weigh 1000 lbs doing the simplest of things would make my heart race. I went to see my dr I had an ekg and they placed a 48 hour heart monitor . All my blood work came back fine and he said my body is probably just out of shape after surgery and any light work is a lot for me now . But not sure about that become sometimes I'll just be sitting there and my Heart feels like it's going to pop out of my chest . I also and curious what others have to say .

ReadyFourChange got a reaction from quiltermom65 in 3 months weigh-in
Hi everyone! Just wanted to take a moment and share that I am down 48.6 pounds in 3 months. I'm about a pound less than I usually get down to before I start gaining the weight back. I'm so excited to see the changes that are ahead for me!

ReadyFourChange reacted to linedancer718 in Something stuck in pouch opening?
I didn't do well with lunch meat either. Funny... I asked my nutritionist about that "stuck" feeling and she said nothing is actually stuck, the esophagus just closes up a bit and that's what gives us that feeling. I noticed I get it when I eat too fast, but I goes away, if I stop eating, in about 10 minutes.
