  1. My insurance goes with the standard definition of morbid obesity, a BMI of 40 & up or between 35-40 with high blood pressure, diabetes, or heart disease. My initial attempt at approval was denied. My BMI is between 35-40, but I don't have any of the "standard" co-morbidities. I do have 7 other health/risk factors that are caused or made worse by my weight. One appeal letter and two weeks later, and I have been approved for coverage of my lap-band surgery. IMHO, if your insurance covers WLS, it's worth trying and appealing once before going to MX.
  2. This is just ten days away, and I'm getting excited to see everyone! Is it too soon to do a role call? I'll be there! I'll be there! I'll be there! Did I say I'm excited? :cheer2:
  3. OK, I think this calls for a list of famous bald hotties, old and new. The first few that come to my mind are: Vin Diesel Sean Connery LL Cool J ... not necessarily in that order! :Banane13:
  4. Yes, the reality is sinking in, and I'm still ecstatic! I've dug up my packet from the nutrionist to review and prepare a shopping list. Over the next week, I'll dig around here for lists of "must haves" to ensure I haven't missed anything. John and I have both already requested the time off from work. The hard part has been keeping my facade at work. There are very few people who know at all, and I've wanted to jump up and down and shout it from the roof tops. Instead, I quietly go about my day with a BIG grin on my face. I'm sure people are probably wondering what I'm up to! :Banane13:
  5. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENNIFER! I hope you have an awesome birthday! We love you! :happybday2: :happybday: :Banane11: :woot: :Banane45: :Banane13:
  6. OK Vicky, where are you? How are you doing? Are living in the land of the banded now?
  7. Kim, you'd better believe it! I'm giddy again!
  8. I'd call both, but then I'm not the most patient person in the world either.
  9. My surgery is scheduled for Monday, June 5th! It's finally here ... YIPPEE!
  10. I understand not wanting to jump into anything. I was with my ex for 13 years when we divorced. There was 5 years between marriages. I made up for the dating I didn't do before my 1st husband. Fun is good! It also helps you figure out what you do and do not want in a future relationship.
  11. Amen Angelu! I have UnitedHealth Care thru Wachovia Bank. My average BMI hit in the 35-40 range, and I don't have diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease; so I was initially denied coverage. I do, however, have seven other conditions that would be improved if not cured by weight loss. Fortunately, one appeals letter and the denial was overturned. Now I just need a date.
  12. God Bless you Jennifer! I wish I knew something to help! I'm praying for you! Please keep us posted; I may be following in your foot steps before long myself.
  13. There's a guy at church who fits the bill perfectly, but he's happily married with children. Maybe he as a single brother?
  14. I've waited 9 months, what's one more? I could have had a baby in the time it's taking me to get a band .... Not!
  15. Cool! I'll keep an eye out for a not too tall, shave-headed, outdoor loving, 30 something +/- hunk
  16. Melissa, I'm always open to new Protein shake ideas. My personal favorite (so far) is chocolate Protein powder with 1 TBSP of natural peanutbutter blended into 1 cup ice Water. Thanks Randy! Yes, I'll get to do liquids, mushies, & PB with everyone else soon
  17. ... and what kind of personality traits do you like?
  18. OK ladies, I think we should make an effort to find Angie a date! Angie, what do you think of this idea? What might you like in a man?
  19. Happy Birthday Kathy! Have a great day!
  20. Thank you everyone! Kim, if I can wait this long to get through the insurance process, what's a little longer for a surgery date? Angie, I agree with Kim, please let us know if you get a date too ... or would you like for us to fix you up with one?
  21. Thank you all for the well wishes! I'm am ecstatic! God is so good! I've been praying on this from the beginning. His will be done, in His time, in my life
  22. OMG, pinch me; I'm dreaming! I just hung up with the appeals service center. My claim was overturned; I have been approved for Lap-Band surgery! :clap2: All I need now is a date. I'm sitting at my desk at work and can barely contain myself! I'm dying to jump up and down a scream to the top of my lungs! :Banane31: :Banane52: :Banane08: :Banane41: :Banane30: :purplebananna: :Banane51: :Banane09: :bananajump: :Banane29: :not_ripe: :Banane07: :Banane17: :Banane06: :Banane49: :Banane27: :Banane59: :clap2: :Banane48: :Banane05: :Banane47: :Banane04: :Banane57: :Banane02: :Banane13: :Banane03: :Banane35: :Banane44: :Banane01: :Banane33: :xena_banana: :Banane22: :Banane11: :Banane32: :Banane21: :Banane53: :Banane10: :Banane42:
  23. My older brother came down from Roanoke, VA this weekend and hung out with us. It was low key and enjoyable. Getting caught up, I didn't get nearly enough sleep this weekend, and am dragging big time today. The pinched nerve is improving, albeit very slowly. I'd say it's 40% better? Any/all improvement is appreciated. I'll leave a message with my PCP later this morning and see if he wants to go for a second round of steroids or give it more time first? I'll call the appeals line again on Thursday. I've already decided on Plan B. If not approved this time, I'm going back to my PCP for appetite suppressant meds, and I'm going to pretend I have a band ... including the two weeks of liquids and mushies, etc.
  24. Happy Friday everyone! Special thanks to Kim, who let me cry on her shoulder yesterday! Between awaiting a verdict on my appeal, work being crazy, and fighting chronic pain with this pinched nerve, I haven't been coping very well lately. I've been doing a ton of emotional eating, and being on steroids, I'm grateful I haven't gained any weight! I hope everyone is doing well!
  25. I'll try is the best I can offer right now. Things are unpredictable at work, and overtime is on the horizon.
