Hunger Pangs and Other Musings
I stagger my meds. No way I could fit them all in to my pouch in one sitting.

Can anyone tell what preoperative testing is done right before surgery?
I had a chest x Ray, met one last time with my surgeon, signed consents, had blood drawn and saw a pulmonologist. I also met with the anesthesia team.

How long...
...did it take you to figure out your hunger/fullness levels? I know everyone is different, just looking for an average. I am 5 days post op and there are times I feel like I could drink a huge Protein shake and times I'm not hungry and just want water!

I didn't come home with a drain (my surgery was 5/1 and I came home 5/3) and I've had no issues since. I'd love to know about hair loss too. Mine is starting! Eeek.

5 days. I didn't use a laxative either.

Liquid Diet
I did a liquid diet for about 14 days before surgery with the last day being clear liquids only. I was also given something called GoLytely which trust me made me go! I think it depends on the surgeon.

I have a question about Gastric Bypass Surgery
I had both. They took the catheter out the next day and my drain out before I came home. Neither were an issue for me.

Second full day home
Hi all, I'm on my first full day out from the hospital (surgery was 5/1, released 5/3) and I think I am doing well. Walking laps around my apartment hourly. Working on getting enough liquid in (docs and nutrition stressed this over protein for the first few days) and only needed my pain meds once so far today! I am uncomfortable from the gas but otherwise ok! How is everyone else doing? Highlights of my day were showering and getting off the couch by myself!

Thank you for sharing @@SeahawksFan! I am actually a coach but couldn't get a grasp of what programs might be best for someone who's had WLS.

Seeking Mentor
I am seeking a mentor (can be local - I live in Cleveland, but doesn't have to be). A bit about me: I am 29, married with no kids, and work as a social worker. I enjoy a variety of sports, music, tv shows, etc. and cannot wait to begin a new active lifestyle! I am also active in church and with my sorority's alumnae group and am in school working on a Master's in Public Health. I am recovered from binge eating disorder and continue to receive support for it. PS Sorry this was written like a personals ad...LOL.

New!
Hello everyone, I am new here and I am having gastric bypass this Friday, May 1, 2015! I am excited and nervous all at once. I'll give a bit of background: I have always been big. I have also always been tall. I was usually the tallest/biggest in my class throughout school. I played sports so that helped keep some weight off but I have been in plus sizes for as long as I can remember. I struggled with an eating disorder (binge-eating) for several years but went through an amazing program and have been binge-free for 10 months now. I tried so many different diets and ways to lose weight with no success. I finally decided in October 2014 to begin the process of getting ready for weight loss surgery. Thankfully my family and friends have been incredibly supportive! I received my insurance approval in early April and scheduled pretty quickly after. I am so thankful to have found this site!
