  1. Agree with all the above. Also the joy of eating that we had in the past is what got us all into trouble. You must also forge a new relationship with food and eat to live not live to eat. Good luck!
  2. You are right it is swelling and fluids. Be patient and it will come right off. I gained also from surgery but it was gone in a week.
  3. so far walking on the treadmill
  4. Hang in there it gets better as you go. do you have a list of free foods? If so add those. You got this, as everyone says "eyes on the prize" and pounds lost now get you closer to your goal.
  5. Glad to hear things went smoothly and you are doing so well!
  6. Yes you can count your Protein shake in with your fluids. Every day it will get better, initially your sleeve is swollen and inflamed from the surgery so hang in there, it will happen!
  7. You are still healing at this point so I would just let them take a look at them at your post-op.
  8. Nothing you can really do but wait it out. We all read it's real and then it happens. Be patient and hang in there, it will pass.
  9. My nutritionist said between 600-800 calories but she really wanted us to focus on the fluids and Protein. If you are getting in your protein you shouldn't have much room for anything else at this point so really it is too early to be worried about calories.
  10. Way to go! Slow and steady wins the race as they say. Hooray for supportive hubbys! Progress is progress, you've got this!
  11. You can call your insurance company and ask for a copy of the coverage for Bariatric Surgery. It will show you what they are looking for and what you need to qualify. Good luck!
  12. Any Georgia peeps here? Don't be shy, speak up!
  13. Are you getting all your fluids in for the day? Dehydration can cause hunger feelings. Also are you taking any antacids? Too much acid in the stomach can cause you to "feel" hungry. I am 5-1/2 weeks out and I never get hungry. I have to watch the clock and make myself eat.
  14. For MY week after surgery I was on 3 Protein shakes a day. For my plan week 2 I was on soft foods and I was allowed deli turkey, deli chicken and flaky fish...so I did salmon and deli meats. I still to this day do a Protein shake for Breakfast just because it is quick and easy, I can drink it on the way to work. I make it with extra add-ins to keep the variety up and to make it taste great. What does your plan say for week 2?
  15. Juts know that their lack of support comes from something within them and it isn't truly about you. Keep up the great work and you will be fabulous! They will be green with envy!
  16. Hi @@Daisy Girl! Good going so far. Glad you had a smooth surgery and an easier recovery so far. The sipping thing will not last,, you will be able to drink more in time. I drink normally and can take huge swallows now. Water goes straight thru so it doesn't hurt my sleeve and I am better able to get my fluids in now that my tummy is mostly healed. Keep up the good work!!
  17. Welcome@@Kimmy0926! Your surgery date will be here very soon! I am almost 6 weeks post-op and my only regret is that I didn't do it years ago! Good luck on your journey and keep posting so we can follow it!!
  18. Have not experienced that but it seems to be a question more for your surgeon. Can you get an appointment to see him/her to be checked out?
  19. I was sleeved as an outpatient on 5-15-15. I did great! Surgery at 7:30am and home by 1:30pm. I took my pain meds on schedule and was off them by day 3...I was driving myself on day 5. I didn't have any issues with gas or nausea and did really great. I kept having to remind myself I had just had major surgery. Everyone's experience is different but I am not one to lie around and dwell, I got up and got moving. Good luck and wishing you a smooth surgery!!
  20. Great job so far! We have the tools right in our hands to change our lives forever. Good luck!
  21. @@*Lexie* you have made such progress!! I know you are very proud of your accomplishment and are excited. Congrats on your success and I hope to do the same! Thank you for sharing ad giving the rest of us inspiration! Keep up the good work and that last 30 is history!
  22. The 3 week stall is real. IDK if you read many posts here but everyone posts that they get it and it doesn't last forever. Stick to your plan, exercise and the weight loss will start again. Hang in there!
  23. @@lauraellen80, what a great post! It is truly your decision to make but involve your surgeon. They have done tons of these surgeries and can help you with expectations and what would be best for your overall health. I chose the sleeve for all the above listed reasons but I also had the conversation with my surgeon about my options and what he thought. He agreed the sleeve was the way to go. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
  24. Congratulations!! What an amazing journey for you so far. It is posts like yours that help others see it really works. Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your victories!
  25. Well howdy neighbor! I am in Lawrenceville! I think that my pre-op chnages in eating habits definitely helped. I started high Protein low carb in January prior to surgery. I had lost 45 pounds before surgery and I can't imagine that didn't help. I followed my pre-op diet for the two weeks prior to surgery to the letter. The purpose of course being to shrink my liver for surgery and I wanted a safe surgery. I truly believe that it makes a difference in their being able to more easily get to your stomach. I think those that cheat think it is no big deal but I have to wonder how that correlates to the differences in recovery after surgery for those who didn't shrink their liver as much as others. I also had a hernia repair with my sleeve surgery and still did fine! I was a good patient and stayed on my pain meds for the first 3 days. I took them by schedule so I didn't let them wear off before taking more. I stayed on top of any pain that might have been. When I was awake I was moving, walking around the house and getting up. I drank as much as I could get in, I drank as much protein as I could to help promote healing. Now mind you I couldn't get in much but I strived to get more every day. Day 2 I had my emotional meltdown just because I couldn't get a lot of Fluid in and I had a panic moment but after that 30 minutes I never looked back. You will do fine! Good luck!!
