    New favorite smoothie recipe:
1 cup light vanilla soy milk
    1 banana
    1/2 scoop chocolate unjury
    2 tablespoons PB2
Mix it in a nutribullet. I had this tonight after my first night at the gym! Took a while to get down but it was delish and 20 grams of protein!

I am good. My surgery went great with my preop diet lost 22 lbs. I am still in liquids and I tend to feel weak. Traveled today to Dallas for a conference and plan to be in the office Thursday.

lest one of us oldsters remind you of the caloric level of alcohol, I for one was certainly enabled towards my current condition by 5 years in undergrad and four years in grad school. And 4 years in the marines ( lots of consumption their).I don't envy you guys having to surf that right of passage wave knowing what you know and have to do. Will take lots of will.. You can do it..

Just wondering how all of you are doing? I'm still batteling a bit with the hunger. My NUT says 3 meals no grazing but i find that if i do that I end up really hungry and then sometimes eating too fast when it comes to the meals. Any one else out there in the same boat? I go see my doctor on thursday so maybe he will give the go ahead of healthy snacking. Other than that scars doing good and down 29 lbs however I seem to be at the infamous stall...
Also, does anyone feel like their brain just isnt working back up to its normal presurgery thinking power? I still feel like my brain is slower these days

One month post-op I went out with friends and ordered buffalo wings. I only ate two of them and stopped. They didn't sit well and had several "close encounters". Needless to say I've been back on the wagon and am sticking with my meal plan.

I actually had 10 starbursts candies 5 days post op as I was traveling back home after the surgery, a 30 hour travel with layovers through flight and had zero options. Packed bullion cubes from the 7-11 in my carry on before leaving and the darn things must have fallen out as they were no where to be found. Nauseam was out of control and needed something. Don't regret it one bit as it was a life saver. Felt fine.

I've never "cheated". I've made a few bad choices along the way, but I did so mindfully and with full awareness.
Avocado isn't at all a bad juice! Mash it up, stir in a bit of salt, lime and sour cream and enjoy! That was one if my first purées! Feta should be ok as well as (gross!) squeeze cheese.
I will refrain in commenting on cheeseburgers, chewing and spitting and whole oysters. :faint:

Once a cheater always a cheater. Two days post, I couldn't take the broth anymore, so I went to Sonic and ordered a Jr. Cheeseburger with mustard, ketchup and onions. I chewed each bite about 20 times and spit it all back into the bag. Pretty nasty, but the taste, woooo weee. I felt like a fat kid in a candy shop. Awesome. But to actually eat, 5 days out, went to this great seafood place to Celebrate a major event in our family and had oysters on a half shell. Went down smooth of course and sat well. That was the same fat kid in the candy shop, but actually eating the candy.

Wow I can't believe that it's over. I have been planning, researching, obsessing over going to TJ for VSG for the past 6 months. I arrived in TJ on Wednesday (5/27/15) evening, sleeved on Thursday (5/28/15) morning and now I have just arrived back home. Whew!!! I feel great, no significant pain to speak of, and minus the immediate post Op phase no lingering nausea. Still a long road ahead of me but grateful to be on the sleeved side of the fence????????

completely agree, I'm going to only try new foods at home for awhile. I can imagine great embarrassment occurring at restaurants if I got the urge to try something completely untried.... Ugh.

Eugh, my first experience of my new tummy, Basil, not liking something. I tried some coconut milk and boy, has that been a mistake. A very unpleasant mistake. My learning point will be, with new foods, to have a few sips only and see how that goes.

Today I got to meet with my surgeon who did my VGS back on the 19th and to my surprise he said that I could now start eating pureed foods. So later today after a nap, I had half of a small container of Greek Yogart, man was that good! I had half of the container and then for dinner had the other half. I also have managed most of today off the oxygen which is making me very happy because in the past it has always taken a while to get off. This evening since I don't drive my mom and I went to a few stores and got some food items that I can have but I did not even think about doing a baked potato but my parents might have instant mashed potatoes so I can use that. Another thing is that my weight is going down not much but it is going down, it is now at 281 pounds. Tomorrow I will try getting some more walking in.

Patience. Its in your head. Your ghrelin hormone is gone/reduced and you should be able to control those urges easily. Thats what I tell myself.
sugar free popsicles and Jello are life savers.
I found that I could eat a little more solid by lightly blending Soups like Campbells Chunky. That way it has a more body but no real chunks. Still tasted great and it hung around for a while. Soups were my saviour, but just broth was nasty. Couldn't do it. Can't stand Protein drinks either.
Now that I'm "eating" I find that one small bite over my max will make me nauseated. Awful feeling till it passes but it teaches you to go easy.
The whole eating experience is different feeling. You have to re-learn.
Just take it easy and experiment a little bit. Remember you have the rest of your life!
Counting my 2 week prediet I am 43 pounds down. Pleased as punch.

My wife made a package of instant mashed potatoes, then refrigerates it. I scoop a table spoon out, add some chicken broth and a little butter and nuke it. Probably the equivalent of creamy potatoe Soup, but I'm to cheap to throw away expensive soups because can't finish them. It's not like they sell them by the spoonful ( which is what I need).. " hi, I'll like one chicken nugget and two French fries please."
    "is that a 4, 6 or 10 piece nugget?"
" it one single nugget and two individual fries!"
