  1. How's everyones exercise going? I began reintroducing jogging yesterday. While it was only for short distances it felt great! I haven't jogged since May.
  2. My parents have been supportive. My in laws relatively supportive. I think they are more supportive of it having seen DHs progress. I didn't tell any other family members (other than our children), with the exception of my cousin. She wasn't too supportive, and I have chosen to not share that information with her again. But it also helps that we don't live near each other. I know that my parents would like to have the procedure but I don't think their insurance covers it, plus it's an added cost for them. But in the event that they do have it they are witnessing first hand what it is like. The decision is yours. You can be upfront with them it choose to keep it to yourself.
  3. I'm 1 month out and can see a change! Here's a picture comparing May and today. 43 pounds gone!
  4. I'm 4 weeks out and I find myself crossing my legs a lot, and it's easy! Plus I reached my first benchmark/milestone that I set. As of today I weigh 225 pounds; haven;t been this weight since 2008. Wahoo!
  5. Everyone's surgery is different. DH had the surgery a month before I did and he has the sleeve of a steel and I don't. Two days following being discharged form the hospital I was admitted to the ER for dehydration (and extremely painful migraines). My recovery time has been different from his. I was in a fair amount of pain for the first week, plus dizziness. He can eat most things with no problem, I eat something and it comes back up. I think the main thing is to focus on you. Your body is different than the next persons. The gas pains will go away. Keep walking, keep drinking, eat small bites...A month from now things will start being "normal". You just have to get through the first two weeks. I found the first week to obviously be the worst, and then by the second week I started to have energy again. Just focus on why you had the surgery and what you hope to obtain with your new tool.
  6. I work in higher education as an academic advisor.
  7. Today I reached the first weight goal that I set for myself. I started the journey at 268 and weighed 248 on the day of my surgery. I set my first scale reading goal for 225, and today I reached it! I haven't been at this weight since 2008, two pregnancies ago. While my shape (clothing sizes) are still bigger than I was 7 years ago it is still a huge accomplishment that I'm proud of. Happy Wednesday everyone!
  8. I had pureed chili and that wasn't bad. I also had refried Beans. The thought of pureed meat (baby food) was terrible, DH had tried it during his pureed phase and said it was horrible. I remember it from when our kids were little and thought how cruel I was giving it to them, lol.
  9. I'm sure that this has been asked before, and I apologize if it has. This is for the ladies that have an IUD and didn't have periods prior to your surgery thanks to our little friend. I had my IUD placed in 2011 and lived 4+ years virtually period free. Honestly the best time of my life, lol. In July I began my 2 week post-op diet and come day of surgery started spotting, but only for a day. Yesterday I spotted again. Did anyone notice that following their surgery that their period returned or perhaps spotted monthly? Did it stay or did it stop altogether like prior to surgery? I'm really hoping that this is only temporary and that it goes away. I have really enjoyed the period free lifestyle. Thanks.
  10. My surgery wasn't in Idaho but Spokane, WA. Saw you're located in Moscow. I'm just across the state line in Pullman. A gf of mine also had the surgery last month. So there's a few of us on the Palouse that have been through the process. Haven't found any support groups down here though ????
  11. I'm in Pullman. I'm doing great. Just about a month out and no longer in pain, and moving onto real foods ???? down 20 lbs pre surgery and 22 post. A gf of mine had a surgery a week after me, also through Rockwood.
  12. I'm roughly a month out and water is hard. I prefer cold water and my body is fine with it, I just can't get in enough. I have learned that I take in too much with sips, but straws I find myself limiting more intake. No problem with straws.
  13. Will be 4 weeks on the 21. So far I'm down 42 pounds. 20 from my 2 week preop diet, 22 since surgery. I haven't been at 226 since maybe 2008. Currently wearing a pair of shorts that I haven't worn since we went to Walt Disney World in 2010.
  14. My pet peeve isn't about others, but about myself and they fact that I cannot drink as much as I want. I love ice Water (never a big soda fan) and want to consume plenty at once, and am frustrated that I can't. Or that if I take in too much at once that I feel sick after. I wish that this would get better over time, but from what I've heard it doesn't.
  15. kIM- I'm south of you on the Palouse. My surgery was on July 21. Did you have your surgery at Rockwood?
  16. I was sleeved on 7/21 and had a stall at week 3. Things started budging again this weekend. I'm not sure if it was because I was tracking my food more or because I was more active, or perhaps my body had adjusted enough to let the scale move downward. I just focused on the fact that I was eating better and being more active.
  17. I was cleared for watermelon at 3 weeks. The only rule was that it could not be stringy.
  18. I started walking at two weeks and bike riding at 3 weeks. My doctor has not yet cleared me for running. Since I'm only working on 4 weeks out I cannot tell you if it helped with weight loss.
  19. 5'4" 228 lbs Size 20 jeans Just bought a new pair today and they are loose in the waist, but I've got hips, thighs, and calves that are still large. The last time I was this weight I was a size 16 ????
  20. I've been on puréed foods. Received beans. Apple sauce, mashed potatoes, blended chili, corned beef hash, pudding, baby food, etc.
  21. I'm three weeks post op and am starting to think about what I will be able to have down the road for breakfast. I'm not a big cream of wheat fan, and was wondering what your go to breakfasts are?
  22. Count me in as undergoing the 3 week stall.
  23. My kids are 10, 8, 5, and 4. I told them that mommy was having tummy surgery and that some of my tummy would be removed. That I will have owies on my belly, and will be in some pain. Plus I won't be able to eat/drink much. The older two have a much better understanding of why I had the surgery and what I can/not eat. The younger two are more conscientious of my belly and that food and I don't always get along. I try to be honest with my children and explain at a level appropriate to them.
