    Losing too much weight

Hello ladies, I was worried about the same which is why initially I only wanted the sleeve. BUT due to my multiple med conditions, It was in my best interest to have the gastric bypass. My surgeon told me not to worry about the weight loss. It will be fast and drastic at first. However with resistance training added to exercise, it will reduce the amount we muscle mass lost. That makes a big difference when losing weight. So that's my Plan. I am 14 days postop from my bypass & I feel truly blessed. As @@robinsmj said its all about our health. It will be fine. All the best & continued prayers to you both on your journey!

    Discouraged-Thyroids suck!

Thank you. I will. I met with my endocrinologist right before surgery & we decided that we would keep checking 4-6 weeks also. Prayerfully, my levels has been in the normal range at the dosage that I have been on. BUT I ended up with 4 other diagnosis that I had to chase after over this past year. I had been on that same roller coaster as you with my levels for about 14 years with dosage changes. Thanks I will be sure to STAY on top of it. I pray yours get steady soon... Keep me posted as will I!

    Discouraged-Thyroids suck!

Hello, I had to JUMP into this thread... I have also battled with an under active thyroid since 2000. I had radiation done also and have battled with my weight ever since. Extreme dieting, vigorous exercise just was giving me little result. The minute that I deviated from my regime, I gained that weight back and more. Also developed type II diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and Hugh cholesterol. I chose gastric bypass surgery due to My multiple medical conditions initial sleeve but after my surgeon advised me of the success rate of being taken off my multiple meds, & Cpap, plus my own research my decision was clear as day. I am 13 days post-op from my bypass surgery. Although I know I will always have thyroid disease, at least with my new tool, I can keep the weight off & not fall victim anymore of a SHOT metabolism due to thyroid disease. As you said @unbroken40... People have no clue what we go through!!! Best of luck & I hope you and drop pin like it's not have continued success which... Stay strong!!!

Is my life ruined for ever due to my weight loss surgery?

Hi James, THANKS so much for the wonderful article. I am 7days post op from bypass and am still looking for things that work and tweeking things that don't work for me. For the most part, it has all been smooth. But my journey has just begun. I am so thankful and appreciative for this tool. I know there will be many bumps in the road. I'm going on line today to order the muscle milk and the Quest bars. I love anything coconut as well. I'm gonna try your egg drop soup. Once again I appreciate your willingness to share so much of your journey with us.

    10 days post op

Its weird because people here are telling me that they have to do liquids for two weeks after surgery before they can do pureed. My surgeons team started me eating pureed two days postop in the hospital. I'm tolerating quite well but second guessing why I'm able to start pureed so soon, am I doing the right thing?? I paged my surgeons resident to question it when I got home to be sure I'm doing the right thing. I received A packet of foods I can have liquids & pureed. I'm happy just listen to the surgeon and follow their directions.

Newbie - How do I choose?

I also chose gastric bypass surgery due to my medical issues, diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and high cholesterol. I did my research, attended a few seminars and talked to people that had each procedure. Also bandèrs to sleeve. Slleevers to bypass . researched more and emailed my surgeon & team came up with my decision that I could live with that's right for me.. There is lots if research out there, great people to meet here as well. Your surgeon should have info on seminars you could attend as well. Each surgery works it just whats best for you. I hate to compare & judge which is better. Each his it's risks as with any surgery. Best luck to everyone on this journey!!

    GOT MY DATE - JUNE!

lol, no you are doing well everyone don't have the same issues. My Surgeon told me to stay off of the blogs long before I had my surgery because of hearing about other people's issues thinking or expecting it to happen to me. You may have a totally different journey. Thankful that you are doing well. Keep up the awesome & positive work!!

    GOT MY DATE - JUNE!

congrats it gets better everyday. I am 5 days post op. You can ask for something to help with the nausea. I had a patch given to me by anesthesia the day before it helped but I was still nauseated a Lil too much to walk after surgery right away. The nurse injected some meds in my I.V. took it right away. (Too late now, but someone else reading it might benefit). Hang in there you are doing well. Its hard in the beginning but I am feeling better each day. Just walk when you can, a little helps and don't push or over do yourself. Your body is using a lot of energy to heal itself. Drink, drink drink. So happy you are on the other side... Its an awesome accomplishment!!!

    African American RNY Sisters

it is interesting to read everyone's posts. My team placed me on pureed meals 2day post op. I don't eat them all day of course but had to show that I could tolerate it before I left the hospital. I concentrate on water & protein shakes pureed foods all proteins In between . We all must follow our teams instructions. Best of luck to everyone.
