Brenew reacted to Kindle in So upset!
You should spend some time reading other posts on this forum. That will help you understand the process you are going through and the experiences you can expect. Pretty sure 90% of newbie's questions and concerns (including the one you just posted) have already been asked and answered dozens, if not hundreds of times.
Take some time and educate yourself before getting upset over all these things that are normal

Brenew got a reaction from Italian Gal in The 3 week stall is VERY REAL!
I'm day 25 post op and have had a stall for the last week and a half. No matter what I did the scale was stuck! Well, I went out for Mexican food with my family last night for a celebration for my daughter's softball teams big win. I just let myself relax and enjoy some " real food" and had just a few chips and 3/4 of a small cheese enchilada made with a soft corn tortilla. I was full as this was the most food I have eaten since surgery. Well just for fun I got up and weighed today and the scale finally moved! I'm down 1.5 pounds from yesterday!! So happy it's finally going the right direction

Brenew got a reaction from joatsaint in Did having surgery cure your sugar craving?
I am a former sugar addict! I ate frosting for Breakfast almost daily and literally at candy and sugar food all day everyday for years and years. Now that I've had sleeve surgery I cannot stand the thought or sight of sugary foods. I struggle with sugar free pudding when I have it once in a while because I don't like the sweetness. Has this happened to anyone else? I feel that it is a blessing because I was never a big eater but was obese do to way to many sweets.

I was sleeved 4/6/15 and suffer from anxiety as well. Since having surgery I feel that it has helped because worrying about weight related health issues that I was always worried about has vanished. I know feel much more relaxed knowing I'm headed in the right direction. I've gone from a 20/22 size pants to a size 16 already! You will not regret this surgery. I have had zero complications because I have done exactly as I am told by my surgeon. Good luck

I felt like you did and wasn't sure about all of the restrictions. Granted, I'm only 2 weeks post op I KNOW it was the right decision for me. Recovery was not that bad, much better than I anticipated! I have had zero nausea, diarrhea or any issues. I'm so happy I did it and I've already had compliments on my weight loss.

Brenew reacted to Kindle in 1.5 Years Post-Op- What are you eating, how are you working out, and how do you feel?
16 months out, 10 pounds below goal (for 7 months).
Maintaining with 1400-1600 calories (I don't count calories or track food, so this is a guess based on a few random spot checks)
Basically eating a regular balanced diet of Protein, veggies, fruit and whole grains. I eat whenever I'm hungry (6-7 times/day) and only until satisfied, rarely till I'm full. I usually don't plan ahead, I just eat what looks good in the grocery store or whatever I'm in the mood for. Work days are 10-12 hours long (sometimes more) on the road with no lunch break, so I keep Protein Bars, mixed nuts and Jerky handy, but prefer to try and find real food, even if it's a hot dog, a banana, an apple, or the toppings off a personal pan pizza. But I Always eat a healthy dinner and Snacks when I'm home.
I still drink a protein smoothie everyday....24-32oz fluids and 30-40g protein. That leaves me free to not have to focus on protein at every meal/snack.
I also eat dessert, candy, Cookies, chips, cake, potatoes, rice (mmmm-sushi), and drink alcohol, but all in moderation and certainly not every day.
No exercise, but I have a physical job, strenuous ranch chores and active lifestyle.....skiing, hiking, kayaking, rafting, horseback riding, etc. with toned muscles and six pack to show it.
Just livin a "normal" skinny life.....and lovin it!

Brenew got a reaction from BLERDgirl in Scared I'm not going to lose weight....2 weeks post op
April 6th the day of my surgery I weighed 252, when I was discharged 2 days later I gained 5.5 pounds from IV fluids/ swelling. Now 8 days later I weigh 247 so I've lost the Water weight plus 5 more pounds. I feel that's reasonable. I know the feeling of it wanting it to come off sooner but I hope that I'm on track with where I should be.

Brenew reacted to Miss Mac in Food boredom......any ideas please?
At five weeks, I was just a few days into eating cooked regular foods as tolerated. But, since your doctor has you on a slower transition, you should just roll with it. I am surprised that you seem to be eating mostly carbs. Even at the mushy stage, you can eat regular food, just cook it to softness and then run it through the blender a bit to break it down. On soft mushy foods, I was eating yogurt (protein), scrambled eggs (protein), refried Beans with cheese and a little sour cream (protein), beef stew run through the blender (protein), moist chicken meat (protein), moist ground beef or turkey (protein) and steamed fish (protein). Let the blender be your friend. For every 1/2 cup of Protein, I was to eat two tablespoons of veggies.
One of my biggest issues with food was changing my habits developed around food. I loved sweet rolls, muffins, pancakes, etc. for Breakfast as soon as I opened my eyes - sweets with a cup of sweet tea. Now I have eggs for breakfast, but one day it's a fried egg, one day it is boiled, maybe another day it is a small cheese omelet with sauteed peppers, onions, mushrooms and ham, and today I am eating deviled eggs.
lunch was frequently an hour after breakfast. Now I make a point to drink at least two bottles of Water before I eat anything else, and then it is a snack. Today I had a gherkin and an ounce of cheese. Some days the snack is 1/2 an apple with a tablespoon of Peanut Butter. A couple of days a week, my snack is 1/3 cup yogurt with some berries. See, it is not the same every day. lunch is now early afternoon, and I am starting to eat more tuna salad and other cold salads and vary the ingredients. My late afternoon snack might be a little dark chocolate with a handful of almonds. In my soft phase, yogurt was my go-to. I could put a little sugar-free jam in it to give it a little flavor.
Supper was any soft meat I wanted plus a couple of spoonfuls of mashed veggies. My favorite was/is green Beans because they are not starchy. My bedtime snack, if I have to have one, is usually oatmeal with stewed apples, or 1/2 banana and peanut butter....there are so many things you can do.
Meals cannot be the highlight of my day anymore. I have to be creative and find interesting things to do that don't involve mindless munching on popcorn or chips. Bariatric surgery changes your life. You need to think differently to feel differently and get healthy. This gets better as you graduate through the various phases because your options open up.
No, I do not eat Pasta anymore. Last night for dinner, I had two meatballs with spaghetti sauce and parmesan cheese, and a few green beans. I have had pizza a couple of times and just use a fork to pull the goodies off the crust. There is no flavor in regular crust anyway. It's just a plate you can eat. Dessert will be a peach, not peach pie. Put on your thinking cap and get creative. Drink Water, sip, sip, sip until your eyeballs float. You can do this!

This may sound corny, but why don't you try to listen to motivational/self-help audio recordings on your long commutes. Also, try packing some Protein bars, cheese, organic granola, beef Jerky bites, etc. for your trips back and forth to work. And NO MORE SNEAKING!

I would call your nutritionist before getting rice crackers. I was told never to those" maybe you can try sugar free Jello or sf Popsicles ..I even froze a Protein Drink into an ice cream. The head hunger is there but it does get better..hang in there! If I can do this, you can do this. I am 3 1/2 weeks out.
