    Can i take Melatonin?

I take 15mg of melatonin every night. My surgeon said its just fine because your body produces it naturally anyways. I'm not sure about the chewable ones though. I take the swallow kind.

    Gastric Bypass Surgery Progress Pictures

This is so inspiring to see everyone's amazing progress! I have been too shy to share my own but i think its time I quit being a chicken and just do it! So here it is.. First pic was on April 15th, The morning of my surgery.. Second pic was just 5 days ago on August 15th, my 4 months post op. Since surgery I have lost 92 pounds and although I still have a LOT more to lose, i am happy with my progress so far also, I'm sorry for the bare skin... I wanted to document my neck changing and everything. Forgive me!

    Very scared.. Right decision?

I know I made this post in April.. But I just wanted to follow up on it in case there is anyone out there right now who feels the same way and has the same fears.. I went through with the surgery. I was absolutely terrified and as soon as I woke up I had regret after regret. I was in so much pain. I was so depressed. I hated myself and I hated life. But then... Then things got better! I am now 4 months post op, I have lost 92 pounds since the day of my surgery, and I would go through it all over again in a heartbeat. Being scared and having second thoughts is bound to happen, but I can promise you it is WORTH IT!! thanks so much to the people who responded to me when I was having doubts and eased my mind. You were all right. And now I can say the same thing. ❤

    Water hurts but protein doesnt?

Thank you!!! I followed your suggestion and got some powerade zeros. although it still hurts going down it is so much easier to drink and I was able to get a 32oz bottle down in a matter of a couple hours.
  7. I have the worst time with getting in my fluids. I can down my premeir protein shakes like there's nothing to it. I can finish off an 11oz shake in 10 minutes or less. The problem is water. It HURTS! I can feel it go down all the way. The best way I can describe the feeling is it feels like pouring water into a plastic cup with a tiny hole in the bottom. It all just stops and then I feel it slowly drain into my stomach and I don't understand why. Water is the only thing that does this to me. Why doesn't the protein? I'm dehydrated and I need my water but I dread drinking it helppp. Anyone else have this problen?

    Not noticing weight loss?

Okay Thank you all. I guess it's just because I'm starting at a heavier weight than most. I'll see it eventually I just was having a moment of impatience which is ridiculous seeing as its only been 2 weeks and I've already dropped 30 pounds. I need to just stop worrying about it and focus on the important things like water intake and all that good stuff. It will catch up with me eventually!
  9. Hi all! So I had my surgery (gastric bypass) 2 weeks and 3 days ago. Everything is going great other than the whole staying hydrated thing. I've had a bunch of issues getting in my water. But I'm working on it. Anyways the point of this post.. I have lost 30 pounds since surgery. I've been told it's noticible is my neck and chest and face. But honestly I do not see it AT ALL. I am just wondering how much weight you all lost before you started seeing it and feeling it?? I am so excited to start feeling my clothes getting looser and start seeing the changes and I feel like with 30 pounds I should at lease see or feel SOMETHING.
  10. Hi Karl! I think you will find that this place is amazing for advice and tips on everything you could possibly think of! I had my surgery (gastric bypass) 12 days ago and I have counted on this forum to answer my questions and reassure me at least 5 times a day every day lol. It's also very good for motivation! When I'm feeling like I made a huge mistake or when I'm hurting or having issues with stuff I just read through the success stories on here and look at all the pictures of everyone's amazing transformations. You're on the right track!! Don't get discouraged! And good luck! I look forward to seeing your progress!

    Very sore throat?

Update: it was in fact thrush as the person above me stated! I was prescribed some nystatin oral medication that I have to swish around and gargle once a day and it helped immensely

    Feeling full?

I know this sounds stupid.. but how do you know when you're full?? I am 4 days post op and I am in so much pain that I can't tell what's going on at all. It's excruciating. I don't know if I'm hungry, if I'm stuffed, if I'm dying, if I'm going to be just fine. I just don't know. Water is getting easier to swallow and my full liquids are simple to eat and keep down.. but I don't know if I'm eating enough to fill me up. I ate a half cup of reduced fat cream of chicken soup today but I didn't feel any different afterwards than I did before I ate it. How much should I be aiming for as a serving size for soups and puddings and yogurt?
  13. I am 4 days post op and I too am in the worst most excruciating pain ive ever experienced in my entire life. I have a high pain tollerence too so I'm not sure what's going on. I just have to keep reminding myself that this is what I wanted, that it's going to be so worth it, and that the pain going through this is far less than the lifetime amount of pain caused by being obese. I cannot even pull my dang pants up without help and I'm so swoolen And tight that I can't move without help. I also know people who are having very little pain! I guess it all just depends on if your lucky or not! My surgery also lasted 3 full hours and there was no pre-op liquid diet before hand so that could play a part in it I'm not sure. Either way stay strong! We can do this!! Just keep walking and walking and walking! And sipping on that water! Before we know it we won't even remember the torture we are going through right now because the outcome will be so much better!

    Lovenox injections

yes honestly you don't even feel the needle going in because after surgery at least for me my stomach is so swoolen that it's feels almost numb. The only one I really felt was the one the nurse gave me right before surgery in the pre op room. It was stressed to me many times to not rub the area as any pressure on the injection site would cause bruising. And sure enough. So if you do the ice pack idea be careful as to not put too much pressure on it or move it around unless you don't mind big bark bruises. In that case slap that ice pack on there and call it a day! Haha
