My biggest milestone to date...
I am 7 months post op. My sw was 324, and after today's scale check I was 199. I have lost 125 lbs. I no longer have a 2 or 3 in front of my weight. I have won a battle that I thought I'd never come close to winning. I'm not done, but if I didn't lose another pound after today that would be ok too! I have a lot to be thankful for!

Lightheaded
Just wondering. I left a message with the dr today still waiting to hear back. I have been having these lightheaded spells. A few times I have had to sit down in fear I was going to hit the floor. At first I thought it was what I was or wasn't eating, but now it happening more frequently. My diet has been very consistent often repeating the same meals. I did try ramping up the calories a bit thinking that may be the problem. Upped the water intake to 90 oz a day (a lot of chugging going on there). I'm 7 months out and several different places suggest dumping, but again still taking in very little sugar, no gluten, limited carbs (usually only in veggies and fruit) nothing greasy or very fatty. My focus has been protein and calories. Any insight would be great.

Rewarding Yourself at Your Goal
100 lbs bought me a pair of calf length boots for winter. I haven't figured out what is next. Small amount of clothes has been bought. I'm growing out of it so fast. Hmmmmm...

Can't stop losing weight...
I talked to a person 3 years post op this last week. I am so confused because everything that has been told to me up to this point has been stick with the diet, excercise, blah, blah, blah. Ok, so I have. What she told me changed the ball game. We have surgeons out of the same clinic who are very pro-vegetarian. Her surgeon told her that her weight loss had become too excessive. She needed to up her calories and fat intake. What?! He told her it was ok to eat ice cream, up the Peanut Butter (which I still can't eat at 7 months) and eat fattier meat. All of which I can't eat or have been told is not on the plan. She scared me a bit. Unfortunately I just saw my surgeon recently or I would ask at my next visit. The things this woman told me have stopped me in my tracks. I have not been scared to lose too much. I have been excited even walking in to stores and buying off racks that are not in the plus size section. However, now the fear that the goal I have been working towards may be exceeded and things like being able to control portions, make better choices and the dreams of maintaining a healthy weight have been waivered. I am curious what your PCP and surgeon say.

super cold during stall break
I'm just cold all the time. It hasn't been a problem until now that the weather is cooling off. I'm just looking for lots of sweaters and warm clothes.

Backwards question?
I don't agree with a lot of stuff I see on this site but it's not for me to judge. Cheating is a word I don't use. I have had things I shouldn't eat, not on the plan and there are days that I go to bed and think wow! I drank all my water, met my protein goals and did everything I was suppose to do! Have I been tempted by any food, every day! I just stick to my guns because I answer to myself. I can't live with knowing that I made a choice to change my life and now I make poor choices to eat or not exercise. It comes down to you! You decide your route! If you think it's ok to eat that bite, it's on you. I nor anyone can tell you what is right or wrong. You will do great and you will see that even some of things that are ok to eat mess you up or don't agree. Don't be scared, use your dr's plan and make it happen!!

Muscle pain after surgery?
After my surgery my biggest incision was sore for weeks. I was never in pain. I went home with Tylenol #3. I took it mostly at night.

How did you all set your goal weight?
During my first visit my surgeon said I could afford to lose 200 lbs. that would put me at 124. I don't think I have weighed that since I was 10. I am currently 210, I've lost 114. I'm completely happy. I smaller than I've been in over 20 years. Every additional pound I lose I will be happy with. I would be happy at 140-150, but if I don't make it there I'm ok too! My surgeon will not set a goal or tell me I have or have not lost enough. He keeps telling me that as long as I stick to the plan of diet and exercise I will continue to see results. I'm ok with not having a perfectly set goal.

Food...
I was able to eat a little bit tonight. I think I might have strep. My son had it last week and my throat is killing me tonight. I'll go to the dr in the morning.

Food...
I'm hungry, I decide on something and make it. I take a bite and it takes everything in me to swallow. I'm 6 months postop, what the heck is going on? Everything taste bad, the texture is disgusting and as bad as I'd like to eat it's not happening. This has been going on for 2 days! Not to mention I'm nauseous and irritable because I haven't eaten.

Divorce
It's a number and the way I feel about it is that if you focus on that then it will happen. I refuse to give up on my relationship and I pretty sure my husband feels the same way. I did my surgery because of the pros. Had I not I would have been dead in 10 years! Divorce is not something I take light hearted and if you are that concerned you really need to sit your spouse down and have some serious talks before surgery.

Your first time..
Apples still do not agree. It's so awful! There really isn't anything else that I can think of.

Help so sick
Dumping has happened to me a couple of times. Once was my fault. I think I'm getting sick and I'm not sure what caused a dumping episode this past weekend. I'm just being really careful because I'm scared to have it happen again.

Light cream cheese? American cheese? Cheddar string cheese?
I love cheese! I don't do light cheeses because of the rubbery texture. I'm not a fan of cottage cheese so I couldn't begin to tell you the difference between light or regular. I try to keep my cheese cravings to a minimum, but vs the alternative cravings I'd say this is my healthiest!

Prednisone! Help!
Steroids are on my list of mess I can't take. I'd check with your surgeons office.

So this morning the scale said 200.0... That is torturous!
Congrats! I have a love hate relationship with my scale! My husband will take the batteries out so I will stay off of it. I have since developed a love hate relationship with him to! (Hehe!!!)

Salsa
I make my own salsa. I cut the tomatoes and jalapeños and pull the seeds from them. I roast them for great flavor first! Yummy!!!

I haven't lost any hair. Weird?
I started losing about 4 months. My hair has thinned drastically. I can see, but I don't know that anyone else notices it. I cut it way shorter. I'm taking a lot of biotin and making sure my protein intake is high to help prevent it from thinning further. It is growing like crazy, but still losing at 6 months. It has slowed quite a bit.

Freezing cold! Normal?
Go buy a lot of sweaters because you are going to need them. The feeling cold started about 1 week preop during my liquid diet and has gotten worse. I am 6 months postop. My iron level is fine. All of my levels for that matter. I sleep with flannel sheets and a heavy blanket every night. My poor husband. I wear boots because they at least keep my feet warm. I live in Houston so the a/c is on everywhere still. It hasn't even gotten close to cold outside and I am a little scared. Luckily the number of hot days outnumber the cold days here.

Orange juice
I have drank oj occasionally but I water it down some, probably not enough. I drink just a couple of ounces at a time.

Not hungry...
I'm 5 1/2 months post op. I've done great. I have followed the diet and I have seen some great results. Now suddenly it seems like my appetite is gone. 2 bites and I'm not hungry. This has gone on for a few days. I thought maybe I had picked up a bug or something, but I feel fine. I try to eat just no appetite. Anyone else experience this?! Getting my protein in is difficult right now.

Period is late? Help!

Dry skin, flakey, red, burning. My face is killing me after bypass
Best product by far is Cerave. You can get it a drug store even Walmart. We use it on my son's eczema. Buy the cream it's non- greasy. I love it. Also getting water in helps.

Scars
Scars?! I don't have any! I never treated them. After bruising went away, you can see an ever so light pink line. I have a hard time even finding them.

Period?
I got mirena 2 months after surgery. It's been a nightmare. I have only been without a period for a total of 2 weeks and 3 weeks since inserted. I'm so over it. Cravings, emotions, and more cravings. Luckily I crave chocolate, but as soon as I taste it the sweetness is too much so I'm over it!
