Casey235 reacted to emalou47 in Back to work blues
My works insurance wouldn't cover me until I had been for my 6 week check up and I did have some problems which landed me in the hospital which didn't help.
Thanks for the ideas I am just hoping my fatigue levels are not going to cause me any problems.

Just wanted to take the time to say I am very happy with the decision to have this surgery! I believe it was Gods will to get me and every other fellow sleever healthy!
Thank you God for allowing my surgeon to be knowledgeable enough to perform my surgery, thank you for guiding the nurses, workers, and every one else who was a part of helping me on April 8, 2015!
Thank you God for their knowledge and for passing it along to me to be able to live a healthier life!
Thank you God for this website, for more reasons than one! I pray for all of those who are having problems, or struggling with something that you will guide them through the storm!
Life is not a guarantee but Heaven can be! I'm so thankful I have a spot reserved for me there! Do you?
I truly am thankful to God, and just want to share my experience with others! I'm sure I'm not alone here, and even though I know some will not agree with me, it's ok!

That's great that you are getting a jump start on chewing! Ugh, I'm still having problems! Sometimes I do want to just inhale my food too but it would hurt so bad! I know I've slipped a few times and accidentally ate way to fast! So good job for getting the practice!

It is so important that you are trying now. For me this was one of the things that was hardest to master. Obviously when you do not chew you basically inhale you food eating way too fast.
Post surgery that can be one of the most painful experiences. I still struggle with it and it can literally ruin a meal. it happens mostly when you are eating and not paying attention. Usually that is when I am having a meal with other people and I don't pay attention.
You will learn fast!

I've been at this for 5 months, now, and STILL have to remember to chew well! I remember well enough at a restaurant, and I really enjoy the chewing there, but forget when I am in a hurry, especially. RETRAIN THE BRAIN!!!!!!!!

Almost 7 months for me and I slip up now and again and I'm reminded every time why it's important lol. I really try to eat something every 2-3 hours and it helps. Even if it's string cheese.

How are you doing now? Any better? I'm sure negative comments aren't what you wanted to see from this post, but instead encouragement right?
So I'll give you some... You got this! It is so hard! But take it one day at a time! Just think about how good you will feel in a few months!!!! I promise you will! Good luck!

Casey235 reacted to blashlee in RNY + Zzzzquil?
Any bypass patients take Zzzzquil post op? My doctor said it was fine to take. But I'm curious how fast it'll take effect now that I've had my bypass. I don't wanna pass out washing dishes and I don't wanna sleep through my alarm either.
Thanks in advance!

I'm thankful for God for keeping me safe and never leaving my side. I'm also thankful for my surgeon and hospital staff. To me - saying thanks does not need to be mutually exclusive.

Bari-Bread: Prep time - 10 minutes, Cook time - 20-30 minutes
Let's start with the basics. I'm sure many of us wish we could still have some sort of bread, even if only as a vehicle for meat, eggs, or cheese on our sandwiches. Despite their apparent simplicity, this riff on Paleo Oopsie Rolls have a great flavor reminiscent of potato bread and easily modifiable to meet most any palatte.
Ingredients:
1/8 tsp cream of tartar
1/8 tsp salt
3 egg whites
3 Tbsp lowfat cream cheese or neufchatel, room temparature
2 Tbsp Water
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 300F
Beat egg whites & cream of tartar until stiff peaks form
Blend Water, salt & cream cheese
Fold cream cheese mixture into egg whites gently
Spoon in 6 equal sized 'patties' on nonstick surface (parchment paper with NS spray or silpat)
Bake at 300F for 20-30 minutes depending upon elevation. Remove when browned but at about the texture of the tip of your nose.
Remove from baking sheet and allow to cool to room temperature
Store in refrigerator in an open ziploc

I ate 4 bites of pizza 5 days out. I chewed it like there was no tomorrow. Nothing bad happened.
No leak, no rupturing of sutures or staple line.
It made me quite happy. At that point in time it certainly was about comforting myself.
No regrets in the things I ate post op. None.
