How long before the GAS Stops post-op?
I have the belly distention too. I'm less than a week out, but it is really uncomfortable. Makes me feel so fat, despite the 10 pounds I've lost since I started the liquid diet pre-op. I also have a weird burping issues. I feel like I need to burp, but nothing comes out. Has nothing to do with eating either, it can happen first thing in the morning. Very odd.

Headaches from Liquid Diet
The liquid diet got easier by day 4 (pre-op). For me the post-op liquid diet is a killer. I'm already cheating a bit.

Lower BMI Bandsters!
What real foods are you eating now? I had my surgery done by Dr. Martinez @ OCC and I too am surprised by how small the incisions are. I'm only a week behind you, have no restriction and I'm starving. LOL

Lower BMI Bandsters!
I feel pretty normal. A little tender in the belly, but not drained or sleepy. I think the biggest frustration is feeling hungry and bloated. It is really annoying. But not painful. I didn't do a lot this weekend, but I did walk around and do normal household things. Yesterday I made my first lap band mistake, I drank too much broth. I did sip, but I guess I sipped too much. I felt terribly water logged and bloated most of the day after that. There is definitely a learning curve to the band. Today I'm back to normal life, no husband to help with my 19-month-old so I better be ready! On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the most painful) I give the whole thing a 4.

Lower BMI Bandsters!
Well, I had my surgery on Friday. All went well and I'm doing pretty good. I'm bummed that I feel so hungry. I was hoping that at this stage I'd feel something other than that. I feel bloated from the gas and IV Fluids, but still hungry, such a frustrating combination. I can't wait till soft food stage. I'm going nuts already.

are you excited?
I'm banded! :whoo: It was pretty easy and the staff was so unbelievably kind and thoughtful that I didn't have time to get too nervous. I'm glad I'm done though. I can handle the minimal discomfort I'm having now. Good luck to everyone due to get banded.

Protein Shake ???????
The EAS drinks are good, ready made and super handy. I loved both the chocolate and the vanilla.

are you excited?
I am going right now! Aaaaahh! What am I doing. LOL:omg:

are you excited?
I have surgery in about 5 or 6 hours. I'm anxious but not nervous. Sort of like I was on my wedding day. I knew I was doing the right thing for my future but I wanted it (the wedding) to just be over with and to start living the good life. KWIM? Honestly though, the more I look at the clock, the more the anxiousness turns to nerves. TODAY is the DAY! EEEK :faint:

Am I The Only Real Overeater In This Forum??
TOTAL overeater here! I love food. I eat when I'm happy, eat when I'm sad, eat when I'm bored, eat on the run, I even eat twice as much when I think I won't be able to eat later. My hobby is eating! I never really feel satisfied, I'm always hungry, except for the 5 minutes or so after I've had a second helping. I get banded tomorrow! Hopefully food and I will have a new and better relationship afterward.

Protein Shake ???????
I bought the Chocolate Whey protein and had some last night. ( surgery this friday :clap2: ). It takes really good! It reminds me a lot of Carnation instant breakfast. It says you can make it with milk or with water. I used non-fat milk. My husband blended some with ice and it was a great treat. Oh and I did find it at Wal Mart.

Lower BMI Bandsters!
Racetrackweary said: That's how I look at it. I waited so long for my son. The infertility drama, the adoption drama and finally I have my beautiful baby boy and I won't take a picture with him because I'm too embarrassed by my weight. Next Christmas we will have a family photo card instead of just him and the dogs! I can't wait! :whoo: Here's his adorable pic! http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k220/Away2me/JakeGraceLR.jpg

Protein Shake ???????
I haven't had my surgery yet, but my girlfriend who has had it (as had her mom) said they have tried every protein drink possible and that this was their favorite: 100% Whey Gold Chocolate by Optimum Nutrition - VitaminShoppe.com

Anyone Else Having an Increased Sex Drive?
I started my pre-op liquid diet today (surgery is friday). I told my husband this morning that to keep my mind off of food in the evenings we are going to have to have lots of sex! He said, "No problem". He has his first consult on Jan 4 with his lap band doc. Hopefully he'll get schedule for surgery early February or sooner. We've already discussed how much better sex is going to be when I loose 60 pounds and he looses 100! Rabbits is right! :clap2:

Am I crazy for doing this so soon?
Thank you everyone for your replies and encouragement! My surgery is schedule for this Friday. I can hardly believe it. I've started my liquid diet and I'm already feeling tired of not getting to eat solids. But I can do this, my eye is on the big prize (or should I call it the tiny prize) I'm excited and nervous all at once. :clap2:

Am I crazy for doing this so soon?
His BMI is 43 so they will cover him. They will make him jump through a few hoops. But I think he'll be getting it done as soon as possible also. His first consultation is January 4. Thanks everyone for all the encouragement. It really helps to hear this. I think I'll start my liquid diet tomorrow just in case I do it friday. I'll find out by Monday afternoon for sure when I meet the doc.

Am I crazy for doing this so soon?
I just found out about the lap band about a month or so ago. I've been reading like a mad woman about the procedure, the doctors, the clinics, etc. I've asked people in real life who have the surgery done and people on forums and Email groups their opinions and advice. We went to a support group meeting and met with a doc there and spoke to a bunch of WLS patients. I feel like I've got a very realistic understanding of how things are going to work Post - surgery. I have narrowed my doctor selection down to 3, well realistically 2. One of them I can get into this coming Friday. I'm thinking about going for it. Everyone I speak with says they have no regrets, that they wished the would have done it sooner, etc. etc. But do they mean this soon? I have my husband is supportive and excited. (He's going to have his done also but he's eligible for our insurance to pay for it). Amy I crazy for going for this so soon? It seems like the most amazing tool to help me with my weight loss struggle. I keep gaining and gaining every year and I'm loosing more and more control (if I ever had any) on my eating. Do any lapbanders have second thoughts or wish they would have waited?

Lower BMI Bandsters!
I'm soon to be banded. My BMI is 37. I'm short and fat now and I keep gaining every year. I didn't know about the lap band surgery until a month ago! But I'm wanting to have surgery ASAP. I've narrowed down my choices of docs and I'm going to take a drive to check out the clinic tomorrow in TJ. (I'm in So. Cal) How long did most of you guys do clear liquids before your surgery?

Lifting a 25 lb kid
I'm in the same boat as you, I have a son who is about 25 pounds. I won't have a choice but to lift him, but I look forward to hearing some answers to your post.
