I made a GREAT smoothie today!
    1/2 cup Fairlife 2% (7 gm Protein, 3 carbs, 60 cal)
1/2 cup fresh berries (mostly blueberries, with a few strawberries and raspberries (1 gm Protein, 10 carbs, 40 calories)
    1/2 packet of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury strawberry Sorbet (10 gm protein, 2 carbs, 50 cal)
    Ice
Blended it well, and it was frothy, slightly thick, fresh tasting, no aftertaste, and delicious. Took about 35 minutes to drink it.
Totals: 18 grams protein, 15 grams carbs, 150 calories. You could make it lower cal. with 1% or skim milk, but I buy the 2% for my coffee.

    Jerr-bear,
I am so sorry! What a disappointing finding, and you are right: infuriating. The others have given some good advice about looking into other options (self-pay/Mexico) and also about documenting your current weight loss.
Whatever happens, don’t use this as an excuse to give up on yourself. Keep up those amazing weight loss efforts – 60 lbs. is proof that you’re able to be disciplined and you’re really dedicated. Try not to look back and regret what might have been. Just look at what is and what WILL be if you keep working hard.
Good luck. I am sorry you had such bad luck.

@@AngelaWilliamsMD that is amazing. I don't know how you did that! I'm struggling to stay below 50 or 60! I'm not eating any bread, crackers, Pasta, rice, corn, peas, potatoes (usually), but there seem to be carbs in so many things! My drinks, Protein bars (only eat 1/2 a bar about twice a week), fruit, even 3 apiece in my veggie sausages. I just checked my food tracker from yesterday. 4 grams of carbs in my 2% cottage cheese, 3 in the tuna packet I ate, 3 in tofu. By the end of the day, those all add up!

If you're going to make that shake. You can cut a lot of calories by using the Fat Free Fairlife.
It gives you 80 calories and 13g Protein in 1 serving

Quest Bars are about the lowest carb high Protein option I've found. A LOT of other bars have a bunch of carbs. Fruit, also, yes. That is why my nutritionist says no fruit at first. If you absolutely gotta have fruit, stick to raspberries peaches plums as they are lower in carbs.

I'd add a tablespoon of nut butter or even a tiny bit of rolled oats to the Protein shake. Just mix the whole thing up in the blender or nutra bullet. The nut butter is a healthy fat and rolls oats have Protein and Fiber. Both will keep you fuller longer. For lunch, I'd swap the goat cheese for a hard boiled egg. Again good protein and a food that sticks with you. If you use salsa instead of the vinaigrette you'll save a few calories without sacrificing flavor. Instead of meatballs and mushroom caps try a cup of Italian wedding Soup. The broth will help fill you up.
Cucumbers as an afternoon snack is a great idea. I marinate mine in a lime/sriracha mix. It's a great crunch and filling.

One thing I learned early on when I discovered this forum was that the participants could safely hide behind their anonymity, and that opinions and tact will vary.
Before I gave up on yo-yo dieting, I would have ice cream every night at bedtime. It is just one of those things that I will probably never approach again because of instant downfall. What I ended up doing was blending ricotta cheese and Greek vanilla yogurt with some artificial sweetener and use that as a base for my Protein shakes.
However, there are those among us whose nutritionists advise against use of any artificial sweetener....so what are we to do? I just follow the plan I was given and use others' suggestions here as inspiration for modifying their recipes to fit my plan. Some use almond milk. My NUT wants me to use real dairy milk.
She also does not want me to have a shake every day, but I would if I there were no restriction. It's an easy energy source for me. My suggestion is to follow your plan and not get too bent out of shape if someone else's plan is different.

Just be careful what you quote as fact here as some don't do the research and will just eat/drink what someone says. We have a responsibility to be accurate as well as supportive.

You are always entitled to your opinion but when you posted your "shake", include the macros up front.
I personally did find this rude. I don't see what the OP "quoted as fact." The post was simply a recipe that the OP finds tasty and useful. It's one thing to say "it's not for me," but another to say the OP is being inaccurate or irresponsible in posting it.
I also find the oft-repeated demand to prove one's credentials by posting stats a bit offensive. It's not a contest or a caste system, with higher stat people on top and lower stat people on the bottom. To me, "requests" for stats, usually after some kind of confrontation, read more like "prove you're worthy of sharing" than "hey, how are you doing?" Just my two cents.

For me making the choice to only tell my immediate family and a few close friends was absolutely the right choice. But I never thought of it as a "secret" I'm keeping, as I never once felt obligated to share my personal decision with the world.
At seven weeks out I am still feeling my way, and figuring things out. I enjoy only having to focus on myself for once. Everyday it seems, I find a new thing to get excited about. But since it's such a personal experience, I'm not sure I would have the energy to be constantly explaining it to the outside world. I'd rather focus that energy entirely on getting healthy, especially in the beginning.

Again everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But my nutritionist looked at the ingredients of the ice cream which I posted and was fine with it. I don't drink this everyday but it's a very low carb ice cream that once it's mixed with Protein and fat free Protein milk is not too thick and just a tasty alternative. If you can't drink it, don't want to drink it, don't like the temptation of it then of course no one is forcing it. Some people were not even aware that ice cream existed and like so many I just wanted to share a postive experience I had encountered and still lost weight for the week.
Adding ice is something that I tried and it didn't work. The protein taste was still very strong but of course, but I have added a sugar free popsicle to a Syntrax nectar shake and it was pretty tasty.
We all have our own journey and are entitled to our opinions, I did not expect to get judged for mentioning the word "ice cream" it was a healthy alternative to regular ice cream and if you want to modify it make it your own. You could make a shake under 200 calories. I posted the ingredients just to share what worked for me under my nutritional guidelines, which I have been following to the book and I feel absolutely amazing and so thankful. Thing is we will have cravings occasionally. I could have gone to mcds and ordered a milkshake with 80g sugar and added in a scoop of protein mix but instead I researched the low carb sugar free option brought it to my nutritionist and she thought it was a great idea. Idk to me that's a pretty solid victory. And when summer comes next year I will be prepared and know what works for me.

I get it. I'll be 49 this weekend and spent most of my life in slacks to get comfy shoes (wore an 11 shoe before so there weren't a lot of choices). As a Systems Engineer, I work in a typically younger, male dominated workforce. The gyus live in khaki pants and polos, but I have to strike a balance between "young enough", comfortable enough for physical work some days and professional. I wear a lot more skirts these days! Tall boots in the fall\winter are a wardrobe staple as they are both comfortable and warm. Pointelle pants with tall boots and a cute tunic top also works. As for my personal time, I probably dress younger than I used to! I'm a biker chick, and "edge" is kinda part of my thing, but I try to keep it toned down at least a little! Do I shop at The Buckle... Yup! Am I very careful what I'll buy from there... You bet! You CAN do current and stylish at 50 and over, you just have to pay attention to fit, etc. If it's too sheer, I'll toss a cami under it depending on where I'm headed. I'm single and dating and occasionally take in a club with live music. I will not look like a frump! Neither do I want to look silly! You won't find me in the minidress and sky high heels! You will find me in a current top that flatters my figure, leather jacket, skinny jeans and tall flat boots! You'll figure it out too! Have a GREAT time doing it!
