I am so tired of hearing that. I feel that people are saying that because they were so use to me being 268 lbs. now that I am 166. It is a total transformation. My family thinks that I work out to much. I try to explain to them that exercise and my new love of running is relaxing for me. Today, I ran 3.1 miles and I ran 14 min 20 sec miles. Never in my wildest dreams would I see myself running and running 14 min miles.
Has anyone been hearing that they have lost enough weight?

Big fan of exercising and as a working wife and mother of 5 simply don't have the time so no workout regimen to share.

I'm 3 mths post op. Have you been to the support groups? I was just at the one at Presby on Saturday. I'm doing really, really well. I feel like a broken record saying this but I honestly had no problems. I started walking in recovery, I had no pain so I didn't need the morphine pump, no gas, no Constipation, no issues with any foods or drinks. Losing steadily and feeling great. The staff was great when I was in the hospital and I love the team I see for follow up appointments. Sam the nutritionist is always so positive and encouraging and I LOVE having that handbook. I have a lot of allergies and I actually took the pages out took them with me when I was shopping for my Vitamins and Protein drinks. I feel really well taken care of with this program.

Only!! What the heck did you expect? A pound a day is 7 pounds a week, 28 pounds a month! Come on now... Maybe if you want to speed up the process you could cut off your leg or something...
Sorry to be so snarky but I'm honestly wondering if you did any research or talked with your surgeon at all before you had your procedure. If not, please do so. After the first couple of months, your weight loss will slow down to 1-2 pounds per week which is healthy and normal.

lovingme1 reacted to Dr. Sowemimo in Post-Op Bariatric Patients Share Their Tips for Weigh-Loss Success
I've performed 1,000+ bariatric weight loss surgeries here in central New Jersey. Because the nature of this surgery necessitates a long-term patient/doctor relationship, I now have a fairly large number of Facebook patient friends as a result!
Last month, I posted a timeline request for my clients (at all stages of post-op weight loss) to share their favorite tips for new patients just beginning their bariatric journeys.
I received a plethora of great ideas that I think may be helpful to many of you as well. (The first one is my obvious favorite!)
Have your own ideas to add? Please feel free to share your tips and recommendations in the comments section below:

    Follow doctor's orders
“I was very diligent in following ALL instructions from my doctor− quit smoking, fast pre-surgery, follow the after-surgery schedule of introducing foods, eat high Protein foods first, drink lots of Water, start walking the day after surgery and keep going when you’re home.”
Don't rush back into eating solid foods
“I didn’t rush into eating. Four weeks of liquid and two weeks of a pureed diet worked really well, but it was hard mentally as I just wanted to chew something. Listen to your doctor and the nurses. They know what is best for each individual patient.”
    Be honest with yourself
“About four years after gastric sleeve surgery, I was feeling exhausted, fat, grumpy and unattractive. I did some honest self-evaluation and realized I'd forgotten or ignored what I had to do to take care of my tummy, my whole body, and my mind. I started back to the gym, taking my Vitamins, drinking two quarts of water every day, and slowly being aware of my food intake.”
    Have the right attitude
“I really believe if you have a relentlessly positive frame of mind and come to terms with the fact that this is for LIFE, you can be successful. And it’s so worth it. I feel joy in feeling full again, which was missing prior to surgery.”
Drink water like there’s no tomorrow
“I drink a minimum of 64 ounces every day, even though I’m at goal weight. Keep in mind—I’m not talking about caffeinated drinks—I mean plain or carbonated water. Orange seltzer is my favorite.”
Change your eating habits. For good. Long term. Permanently.
“If you are willing to change your lifestyle, this surgery will help you become the person you dreamed of being. Bottom line—be committed to completely changing how you eat, taking vitamins and getting physical activity—every day.”
    Join a support group
“For me personally, the biggest key to my success is a monthly support group I attend. My wife and I started going even before my operation. Even though I am close to my dream weight, I still attend to share my experiences and learn something new from the nutritionists and doctors who also attend. Not all bariatric doctors provide support group support, but I think it's key to find one. Try your local hospitial if you doctor doesn't offer it.”
Realize that bariatric surgery is only a tool, not a miracle
“#WLS is not a miracle, there is still a lot you have to do and be committed to forever. It's up to you. This is a lifestyle change in every sense of the word. Want to live a longer life? Have this surgery and get healthy and strong. ”

lovingme1 reacted to sleevie.wonder in Today is my One Year Survigersary! My story & pics @ 135 lbs lost so far.
(sorry about the atrocious typo in the title >.<. "SURGIVERSARY"!)
I'm sitting her reminiscing about my surgery day. I remember so clearly the emotions that I was feeling. I was not scared in the least. I was so READY. I did have a bit of anxiety, as anyone who is about to go under the knife would have, but was never scared. Waking up from the surgery was one of the biggest sighs of relief that I have ever taken. It's over with! I'm alive! Yeah I feel like crap, but I "feel" AMAZING! I only had to stay one night in the hospital.
Recovery after surgery was typical. I took 3 weeks off of work which I felt every day was needed. Pain was manageable and I didn't take any pain meds at home. I also never threw up, and still have not thrown up once since surgery.
I followed all of the stages to a 'T'. It took six months to lose 100 lbs.
I've had the best, most ideal experience with the sleeve and I am so thankful for that. As of today, one year out, I am down 135 lbs. I am smaller then I was in high school by about 40-50 lbs. I think I was this weight in elementary school, no joke.
I have been at this weight since November, though. I've been maintaining around 3 months, which is fine.
I do want to mention that I lost a lot of hair. At least half of what I had is gone. Seems like more but probably not. So now I have very thin, fine hair. I'm ok with it though, as it is already growing back. I feel like I look like Elvira at the moment because all the new stuff sticks straight up. I have to hairspray it back down lol. I still lose a little in the shower, but as far as losing hair by the handfulls, that part is over.
I do have lose skin. It isn't terrible, but very noticeable. I look good with clothes on and that's it. My next goal is to start working on toning, to see if it makes any difference.
I'm happy to answer any questions anyone may have.

Here's a pic I took this evening. I have always dreamed of taking picture like this! This is me in my size 22's that I used to wear all the time pre-op. In fact, I think I'm wearing them in the picture above (the one in the pink shirt.) I wear a size 8 now.
