ValerieInMexico got a reaction from Krimsonbutterflies in Im sure hundreds have felt this way BUT MY BOOBS ARE GONE!
I did have a breast lift, 15 years ago, 5 years after my RNY. 2nd best thing I did after the Bariatric surgery. Girls still look good. Torrid have wonderful stretchy lace bralettes that are not tight but work for providing a little support and they can help you look pretty. They have size 14. I am sure that they have them elsewhere.

    @Missouri-Lee's Summit
It has been 20 years since my RNY. I was working and traveling for work. I, too, had problems with diarrhea. I fasted for 24 hours before a flight because I did not want to have to get up to on the plane, only to be told to sit down. I had a friend lose it and she said it was the worst thing that ever happened to her. Then, I would just worry myself sick over where the bathrooms were where ever I visited.
So, I spent a lot of time researching and testing foods. I can not eat any fatty things. Nothing. No ice cream, no soft cheeses, nothing deep fried, no buttery baking. I have to avoid any fatty meat, meat in general. Low fat dairy does not trigger a problem. Trust me, if I know I am going to be home all day, I may have a scoop of ice cream. But I have learned its just not worth it.
The other thing I did was pelvic floor exercises. Well, my trainer at the time (a mom of 6), said to do thirty pelvic floor lifts three times a day. Do them while you do the dishes for example. She said, just squeeze your butt muscles like you are trying to stop a fart. "keegles " can also help. (spelling?)
I always have Imodium in my purse.
I am scheduled for a modification/revision of my pouch and RNY on the 31st of this month.
Post surgery, when I can have blended foods, I will add oatmeal(tablespoon uncooked) and brown rice (tablespoon cooked) to my meals as that slows things down. Maybe that will help?
My Mom and several relatives had IBS, and they have not had bariatric surgery. I think I am just an IBS person with bariatric surgery, so I need to be extra careful.
    Good luck....

ValerieInMexico got a reaction from Sunwithstyle in Tijuana surgery! Looking for recommendations
I just went to his site: Wow! I am impressed. Are you using the app? My surgery is scheduled in Guadalajara for Wednesday the 31st. I am thinking of changing to your Dr. I just contacted them. I just feel that my Dr. and his company do not have the support. He works in three cities and is not in one place. Sounds like Dr. Oritz has been there for a long time.

Well, I am new to the site, so I have not enjoyed your posts before. Thank you for sharing your story.
So happy for you and to see yet another person who looks amazing. You look happy, healthy and handsome.
It is so good to post that you ignored some significant, serious symptoms for a few days. I think for people that have been obese, we tend to do that. I don't know about you, but I would go to the Dr. with a problem and pretty much would get: "could be due to your excess weight" So I just stopped going.
My friends or family have forced me, even tricked me, into going to the Dr. or emergency room because I am stubborn, always think it will get better on its own. I have learned my lesson, sounds like you have too!
Best of luck with staying healthy!!!!!

ValerieInMexico got a reaction from Lynda486 in Pre-op work out
I just returned from the gym. My personal trainer could tell I am not a deficit calorie diet after about 20 minutes. I lost steam. Usually we are increasing weights, but she did not today. She asked if I could have a small amount of carbs before workout. I am thinking I might have my veggies and Protein for Breakfast, and have the shakes for lunch and dinner. The veggies are carbs.
I started on June 24 and it is July 22 today. lost 6.5 pounds and 14" (6 points of measurement). I feel so strong. I am going to miss the gym after the surgery.

ValerieInMexico got a reaction from RuthD in I want to find love but my mind and body is holding me back
Ruth, work on your self esteem and take some chances. It does not get easier as you get older.
After 7 years of marriage, my ex broke my heart. I was still in my 20s, but my self esteem was in the pits. I was only about 150 pounds and I thought I was a giant. I would look at my body, without cellulite or stretch marks and wonder why someone would want to be with me. I just felt ugly. Even when men would tell me I was pretty.... I was worried how they would feel when they saw me naked and saw how big my thighs were. What if they found out I had some acne on my back! I was freaked out over one or two zits!
I never, ever looked that good again and my weight only went up and up and up. As I got older, no one was chasing me! I pushed away the ones that showed interest.
If I could go back in time, I would find a therapist and work on building my self esteem. I would say "yes" to invitations and allow the men to decide if they found me attractive instead of making the decision for them. So my advice to you is to take a chance, be up front if you need to. If someone asks you out, just go. And if you can afford it, go see a therapist. It can really, really help.
Good luck, and do save for plastic surgery. I had a breast lift after my first big loss and, after 15 years, they still look great! Even skinny women can have cellulite and stretch marks, by the way.
Love yourself! Good luck with the weight loss journey.

ValerieInMexico got a reaction from Frustr8 in What made you realize you needed a revision to your roux-n-y surgery
I did not even know it was possible until someone told me about their procedure. This person had a revision and lost 50 pounds. I consulted with her surgeon, wondering what he could do to help me with gastric reflux and making my stomach pouch smaller. He explained the choices and then made a recommendation.
Really, I would not have thought of it on my own, but now I am excited. My RNY did help me loose 100 pounds, 19 years ago and I kept 80 or so off, so it was successful. I just want to go further and he will see if there is something he can do with the reflux.

The surgeon will not know what he is going to do until he looks. I had an endoscopy recently, and all looks healthy, but the surgeon was a gastroenterologist and could not tell me if I had stretched the pouch. I just know I can eat a lot of food at one sitting. The goal will be to reduce the capacity. If he can, indeed, reduce the capacity that may be all we do. If not, he will modify my RNY so that a greater length of intestine is bypassed. Mine was a short bypass, done 20 years ago. Really not as effective as what they are doing now.
Good luck with this pre surgical diet! My only problem is that I go to sleep hungry. Not something I have done in many, many years.

Well, I am July 31 - RNY and Pouch revision or "tune up", as I like to call it. I was worried that I would be too late for the July group, so I was also going to follow with the August group. My pre op appointment is July 29th where the Internist will review my test results before giving the final go-ahead for the 31st. I am doing well on the pre-op diet, and have lost about 10 pounds in the past month total. My tests show a fatty liver so I am really following the protocol closely.
So if it is not too late, Please include me. I have met all the requirements for surgery already, in terms of test results so I am pretty sure it will be a go ahead.
I really would like to be involved in the post surgery followup, to see how you are all doing!
  12. Congrats!

Keep being his Rockstar! What is so great about this forum is that you can really share and get support. You do not have to tell everyone in your work and family life.
Honestly, if this forum had been available for me 20 years ago, I would have had avoided a lot of pitfalls. Social media has really provided a way for us all to be inspired and this forum allows you to ask any question and get answers from people who know.
Bariatric surgery is still the best thing I ever did for myself, and I kept most of the weight off for many, many years. With the help here, all the great nutritional products, and the fact that Protein Shakes are mainstream.... You will have so much support without having to get it from friends and family. Sounds like your Dr. is awesome as well!
    Good luck!!!!!

I have also been hitting the gym hard, the past 6 weeks. My surgery is on July 31. My last session will be the 26th.
My personal trainer said, because of the low calorie pre-surgical diet we are going to change things the last week. I will find out what that is today. She does a lot of isometrics with me, so I think we are going to focus on flexibility, strength and balance and not fat burning. We'll see!
I am just going to walk and do some light exercise on my three day clear liquid diet, just prior to the surgery.

That is the way I have been since childhood. My parents thought there was something wrong with me, but I really love to stay in my house and read books and just be lazy. I do have to push myself and, for the half the year I live in a city where I really do not know anyone. The gym gets me out every day, and I have a lot of friends and family who live about an hour away, so I try and make plans to see them. I shop out of loneliness sometimes. Most of the time I enjoy my solitude. I think finding a gym buddy and a walking partner will be my next step.

I am so like this. One thing I am doing in my house, because I am on the presurgical diet and entertainment by food is not an option, is working on a list of fast tasks. Things I can do in 10 to 30 minutes. Otherwise, besides going to the pre-paid gym sessions, I would stay home with the curtains closed. That is my nature. Glued to the recliner.
    My list of tasks include:
. Load or Unload the dishwasher
. Do a load of laundry
    . vacuum
. sew that button on the shirt (the one that has been waiting 10 months
. steam the wrinkled clothes that have been waiting for weeks.
    . clean the fridge
I set the timer to 30 minutes and tackle a task or two. At the end of the day I feel better and it keeps my mind off food.
I am avoiding going out because I am also a recovering shop-acholic. That is one of my fat time things to do. Avoidance.
To mitigate the risk of shopping for things I do not need:
I have a list of errands to run that I postpone because it requires I wash my hair, put on something other than sweats and leave the house AND not shop or stop at starbucks! I just focus on the list, bring a big bottle of Water and try and drink it before I get home. Also: I am wearing my best clothes because they will be too big next month and I might as well! Also, been putting on makeup cause, why not. Anything to get my mind off food. I smile and say "thank you" to everyone. Ask the clerks "how is your day?" Then, they smile back at me and I feel I have achieved a small thing.
Finally, another thing I did was ease myself into the pre surgical diet by using noom, the app, which set a 1200 calorie goal for me, and 3K for steps. Why not do that? It helps to motivate you, noom helps you work on that lazy bones attitude too.
Good Luck. Getting outside feels good once you actually get yourself out the door!
