Should I try to gain a few?
I think thats a great idea. I am trying to stay above 40 BMI for the next two months and am really close. I might have to use your ideas.

Should I try to gain a few?
I would gain the 3 lbs to be safe. Most Insurance want a 40 BMI if you do not have any weight related problems. I would go on the safe side of thing and gain the weight.

What does "significant gaps" mean with Cigna?
I had to have a psych eval, a visit to a nutritionist, and a one year weight history, and six month doctor supervised weight loss program. Your policy may be differant and you may have to have a five year weight history and two visit to the nutritionist. Also bmi above 40 or 35 with one weight related issue.

I think you may have to redo the six months because I am 3 weigh-in in and they have to be every 30 days. You can only go out 5 days from the 30 days or you start over. Also Jenny Craig or Weight Watcher does not count. But you never know I get told every month it is always on a case by case bases. Good Luck!!

Cigna and AIGB
I only have to show 12 months for Cigna. Also have to have one visit with a Nutrition and have a psychological exam. True Results will try to push the sleep study on you but if you are over 40 bmi you can refuse it. Cigna does not require it. So I refused it. I have my 12 month weight loss hstory and my nutrition visit done. So I just have the psychological exam and 4 more visits left. Just think when you go in next onth you wil be half way there.

Cigna and AIGB
I am also using AIGB but in Hurst. I am 2 month in to the 6 month diet so I don't know what the final cost will be but I do know that Dr Marsden will do the surgery and he is a cigna network docter. Maybe it would be worth going to the Hurst office instead of Richardson. I do know my plan only has a 400.000 deductable and a 1000.00 out of pocket. So the most I will have to is $1400.00, but by the time I get the surgery I would have already reach my deductable so 1000.00 is what I should have to pay.

HI Joining you all
Welcome!!! I understand about not wanting people to know yet. My Husband, mom, one friend and my sister who was just banded is all who knows. I will not tell my mother-in-law. Once I told her I was taking diet pills and she fliped out. The only reason the one friend knows is because she is getting it to. I think the reason I do not want to tell anyone is because I don't want everyone just waiting for me to lose weight. Like well she had surgury 2 months ago and she still looks the same. When I start to lose and if someone ask I will tell them. I hope you get your approval soon....

Man I know what you mean about your husband not having any time off. My husband was in a job related accident a few months ago and had to miss alot of work. So I don't want him to miss anymore. I know he will want to be with me but my mom can be there. I am also leaning to ording from unjury. I don't want to end up with something I wont use so I am going to order samples first....

Scared?
I glad to know I am not the only one who is scared. I don't want to let myself down or my husdand. I am at my largest ever weight and it makes me sick. I know if I have to do something. I just worry I will not lose the weight.

MirandaK
Hi everyone... I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Miranda and I am from Texas. I saw Dr. Marsden on 1-7-08 and was getting ready to start my six month diet but I really don't want to go through all the mess with insurance. I am very healthy but for being overweight so I figure it will be very hard to get approval from Cigna eventhough I am at 41 BMI.. I don't want to waste six months to be denied. So I started looking at around and found a Dr. in Dallas who will do it for 9500 cash price. It includes 4 fills. So that is what I want to do. I go in on the 29th of Jan and was told I could have Surgery within 3 week of the first visit. I can't wait. I look forward to getting to know everyone here!!!

Self Pay Financing
I myself did not Finance But my sister did. She applied around Dec 14th was approved the same day. Went to her first visit on the 19th and had surgery on the 31st of Dec. So yes it was very fast. The docters office just called the finance company to verify and precended with the surgery.

Question about Sleep Study
Hi..I am just starting out and am in my first month of the six month diet. I got a call today to set me up for a sleep study. I did not put down that I snore because I was afraid I could not fall asleep for the study. But now thay order it anyways. Which I am ok with because it could help me get approved. I am just wondering if I can take something before I get there to help me? Like a pm or Something? Will it change the outcome or not?

Cigna and 40 BMI
Hi I am knew here and have a question. Yesterday I went in for my first visit. I am at 41.1 BMI and if I was to even lose 7 pound in the 6 month weight loss program that Cigna requires I would fall below 40. When I first made the appoitment the lady told me we always go by the first weight in but yesterday the nurse said I should stay above 40 to make sure that Cigna would not use it to deny the surgury. So my question is how important is it to say above 40. I really want to get started eating right before the surgury. I have already cut out coke in the last month and don't ever miss them. I want to start eating better but I am afraid to lose over 7 lbs. What are your thoughts?
