My surgeon's experience is that people usually don't have to jump through the hoops again because the revision is necessary for reasons other than weight loss

I got my lapband in 2012 and got down to 206 from a high of 293. When I complained about my horrendous reflux the doctor took the fluid out of the band. The reflux eased up but I put on 50 pounds very quickly. I am in the process of qualifying for revision surgery. Federal BCBS requires the whole program again to qualify for the revision to bypass. In my case the revision is totally considered bariatric surgery.

The fact is they will come up with a better surgery, like you mentioned medicine is always evolving. For me I don't worry about it, I'm living in the now so I took the best option for me. If you are worried, perhaps you should take a step back and wait a while before making this life changing decision.

chach123 reacted to Babbs in How long did the fast weight loss last for you?
The first 3 weeks to a month is usually the fastest. Then it tapers off to more "normal" weight loss rates of 2-4 pounds a week.
Me? I lost an average of 1-2 pounds a week, because I have the metabolism of a koala.

Each UHC plan is different. I have them and my requirements were 1 psych eval, an EGD, and 1 meeting with a nutritionist. My dr required a letter from my PCP. I had no supervised diet plan or anything. I didnt even have to do a preop diet! The only thing is that with UHC, I had to use the "Bariatric Resource Center", so I was given a list of about 7 doctors that I could use for the procedure. If I used anyone else, it wouldn't have been covered. They also provided me with a nurse that could answer any questions I had. She has called already 3 times to check on me. They were really wonderful. I was approved within 3 days of the paperwork being submitted.
Hope you have luck with them!!!

There's nothing worse then former smokers who cough like crazy when they see someone smoking, former drunks that think they have found all the answers about alcohol, and former fattys that sneer at us who remain overweight or choose a way to live longer by having surgery. I feel sorry for Chuck I think he's lonely.

So, not exactly, but if you're still on liquids like me and sick to death of the same ol' shakes, I concocted this today for something different and it kind of reminded me of a Butterfinger milkshake: blend together a vanilla Protein Shake (I used Premier), some SF chocolate Syrup (I used Hershey's), a tablespoon of PB2 and some ice. Voila. Something different.

What does your diet consist of?
How many calories/carbs are you consuming a day?
    Protein?
    Do you log your meals?
How much Water are you drinking?
    Do you measure your portions?
What type of exercise are you doing and how long do you do it?
What are you doing when you are not exercising (aka sitting at work, walking at work, etc.)?
Do you wear a fitbit or other fitness tracking device?
Are you taking pictures of your body along with your measurements?

My questions are not to find errors or point any fingers at what you are doing, please do not take them that way. I am simply asking these questions to see if there is an obvious tweak that can be made to help you along with your goal.
For me, tracking until I hit goal was a must. Even now I measure my food a few times a week and track my trend of calories. I have found that wearing my fitbit motivates me to walk a little farther each day, especially those days I don't have time to train. I do weigh myself mutliple times a day, but the number on my scale does not define me. I "judge" my progress on the way my clothes fit and how I feel when I move my body.

Tell us what you are doing and perhaps we can help you. You have done great so far, so DO NOT give up. You have absolutely nothing to lose by pushing yourself a little harder EXCEPT a few more pounds.
You CAN do this. I have no doubt.

Vitamins are an adjunct and tyou can look at my tickers to see im a little over 5 1/2 months out and down 137 pounds. It took a good month on solid food before i really felt comfortable with my eating. 3 bites is wayyy too little. my day goes like this and has for quite a while, Breakfast 1 egg scrambled with 3 pieces of turkey bacon or two turkey sausages ( i recommend the Johnsonville pre-cooked turkey sausage links, they are awesome and you cant tell they are turkey..really!. ) then about 3 hours later i have a greek yogurt, the dannon low cal sugar free stuff, then 2 hous later i have my lunch either some veggies or a Protein shake with some Peanut Butter ( all natural no sugar type, or use PB2, or fruit or a mix of both) and then 2 hours later a snack usually carrots and so oil and vinegar salad dresssing as a dip kinda thing although there are some great lite salad dessings, just watch the fat and sugar content. but also can have some apple slices maybe, or the like, dinner is chicken fish, beef or pork or turkey, i love indian food type chicken, but ground beef still not having a great amount of luck with steak, or ground beef patties with cheese ( yes a cheeseburger without the bun) you can wrap in lettuce or use a very low fat low cal. no sugar lw carb bread type.
I like the josephs lo carb pita and wraps, very low carbs, and i have about 5 ounces of meat and sometimes a little less than that and some veg or a small side salad, i also like having a salad if im in a hurry with some tuna, and hard boiled i egg in it, or some Protein meat in it. Are my portions small, yep , smaller than i ate before, oh yeah, too small to enjoy, no.
sometimes i wish I could eat more, but i cannot begin to tell you the changes my body has gone through.
You ll get there just dont rush, enjoy the losing.

chach123 reacted to bigfatgoodbye in Hi I'm a June sleever
Well I have been wanting this for 8 years and finally just gave it to God. A week later one of my clients came in and had lost 80 pounds since I had seen her 5 months before. She recommended the doctor. Then I found out that my business partner of 18 years had her lap band done by the same doctor 7-8 years ago. She loves him. Also, he has had WLS himself! I really prayed about this and I even posted a prayer on a prayer wall app for God to take this weight struggle away, two days later was when my client walked in and it has been such an easy process since then. It really just seemed to me that HE was steering me through this.

I can't believe everything is so smooth for me. I've been reading how others are dealing with pain, vomiting, cold, no energy, etc. I've not dealt with any of that.
I started walking the day I had surgery and have been walking more each day since. This morning I got a wonderful 30 minute walk in and have over 4,000 steps on my fitbit so far for today. All before 9am LOL
