@sassycas45 I've been thinking the same thing! I can't wait until shopping includes more variety than Lane Bryant and Torrid!

I bought a fit bit. The cheap one that just clips to my bra. Every day I try to beat the day before. That's it. No huge # to meet. Just do better than the day before. Also I am quitting sodas now so its not a big deal later, and trying to cut back on the bread too. My focus is going to be on preparing mentally for this challenge, because I think that is going to be the hardest part. They are giving us the tool, now we will have to mentally carry out this process. Follow directions, and remember that we paid to have this done to us. And we wanted it, and by golly, we are going to make goal!
That's what I am doing. I am also blogging and driving my husband nuts. That part seems fun!

I have not experienced this with my husband. I am still in the 6 month pre- diet. My husband married me when I was 300 pounds. He is 6' 4" , weighs 215, and has a 34 inch waist. He has always been a big, strong, manly man. He has no preference as to size. He said if I want to get the surgery, that is fine with him. But he didn't want me to get it just because I wanted to be skinny. He wanted me to know that even if I stayed this fat forever, that he didn't care. I don't think he will worry that I will leave. I try to make my attraction to him known every day. We have a really strong bond. I think open communication is the key to working through a huge physical transformation.

I know right! I live in Florida, so I am really looking forward to that first post-op summer. I joked that this summer I am going to proudly frolick in the Water and let my friends take all of the fat pictures they want of me. It will be the last time I will have to make it through another uncomfortable summer.

OMG I KNOW!!! It has basically consumed my every waking minute. I fill the days with lists, recipes, Pinterest, and research. I read everything I can get my hands on. I read as many people's stories and blogs as I can. I want to read it all, The good, the bad. And I also started blogging about my journey too. I am posting a lot of detail about the insurance and the actual happenings that will get me from here to surgery date because for a year I had a hard time finding someone blogging their story about how it all works, in detail. So I wanted to do that. Pinterest was already like crack to me... now it's even worse, LOL

Hi! I started my 6 month wait on Monday February 16th. Hopefully, I will have my surgery in August; however, they said they are usually booked two months behind unless someone cancels. Ugh. I really don't know how to make this time go by. It drives me nutty. It's all I'm thinking about!

SAD HATTER got a reaction from Susan317 in Sleeve or RNY, Dr Pilcher, San Antonio, Texas
I did a LOT of research, and met with a few other surgeons, and none of them made me feel that "we are meant to be" feeling. So I waited. Then I ran across Dr Pilcher and after talking to him via email, I had more of a comfort feeling with him, than I ever did the others I met. So I am glad you recommend him so highly. I am excited to get this all underway. His office is about 2 hours from me, but even my PCP is 75 miles from me in downtown Austin, so driving down I-10 to SA isn't that big of a deal really.

SAD HATTER reacted to MisforMimi in Is it WORTH having this surgery for the sole purpose of NOT being able to eat crap?
Dumping is not guaranteed. So maybe not the best ideas to make a decision on that. You posted on the bypass thread so you'll get a lot of pro bypass perspectives, too. I decided bypass because I wanted the greatest chance of my co morbidities being completely resolved. I wanted long term data. I've been on this site a while and I can't figure out if sleeves are just being offered more lately and there by we are hearing more about folks not being able to eat being 6 wks, 6 months out and other stuff or if sleeves are more vocal about it. Can't tell. I'm two weeks out and can tolerate everything I tried with no problems, nausea, vomiting. I know when I'm am eating too fast but I think that would be the same for everyone at this point.
You need to make this decision with your surgeon. I think most people go with their guts and at their fear edge. Some people are gonna be creeped out by the re routing, I was afraid of the long line of stitching with the sleeve or developing any sort of reflux, heartburn etc.
Also, what sealed the deal for me and you might ask your surgeon.
How many of each procedures has he/she done?
Which one has he/she done the most revisions or fixed complications with? And how comfortable with it are they?
If his or her child needed bariatric surgery which would they recommend?
Honestly, you are young and healthy and would probably do well with a uncomplicated sleeve or bypass process, but you may not need all the bypass has to offer.
