  1. Stay hydrated for sure. As for the bm, try Smooth Move tea. It has Senna in it which is a laxative. I took it 3 days post op just to nib things in the bud. Don't stress the weight gain, I gained 3 lbs and all of sudden it was gone. Good luck!
  2. It depends on the dr's process. I had the sleeve and had a drain. It was removed upon discharge, 2 days in the hospital.
  3. I did slip technically. On day 3 I was very weak, my blood sugar dropped and just felt odd. I had a piece of string cheese to get me through. At that point I had to eat something small or I wasn't going to be well enough for surgery. I did have mashed potatoes the next day, 2oz. Milk really helped me so I drank 20 oz a day, in addition to other liquids. I lost 10lbs in that week. At my pre op exam that was 3 days before surgery my NP felt my abdomen and surrounding areas and was confident there would be no issues.
  4. I was also a March 5 sleever. I can feel everything that goes down, water, ice chip, jello. I know we have a lot of inflammation so I'm attributing it to that.
  5. I too was worried about the nausea. Today is day 2 post op, going home shortly. The nurses will stay on top of the nausea meds for you, just tell them. Good luck!
  6. I'm nervous too! ???? My surgery is Thursday 3/5. I'm worried about being nauseous all the time after. And lots of other things!!! ????
  7. I'm on day 3 of liquids for pre-op. No issues with wanting food and not really to many hunger pains but I feel very sick, jittery, light headed and just not myself, I feel like my sugar is too low, though I'm not diabetic. I did have a piece of string cheese and it helped for a couple hours. Just gotta push through it.
  8. First consult with surgeon was 10/10/14, surgery is 3/4/15. Original surgery date was today but I had to push it out a week. Good luck!
  9. I have Aetna. My coordinator was the one who informed that I was approved however my friend/co-worker found out from Aetna because she beat our coordinator to the punch. She did like I did, called Aetna every two days for an update. We both had a response in one weeks time. Good luck!
  10. Hi. I had wondered the sabe so I called my insurance company. The surgery cost is different by area then each insurance company has their negotiated rate. Call the number on your card. I'm sure they'll be able to tell you the max you'll have to pay. Good luck!
  11. Congratulations! I hope it all went well! ????☀️
  12. I was approved on 2/9. My current BMI is 40.7. I'm concerned that with the liquid diet my BMI will drop below 40 and the insurance company not want to pay after surgery. I have a pre-op appt on Thursday and will ask then. Anyone have experience with this?

  16. I had it too, and YES, it can affect surgery! Most insurance companies are requiring a negative follow up result. As you know h pylori is bacteria. You don't want surgery on your stomach while you have high levels of BAD bacteria in there. I'll warn you, the treatment can make you feel nauseated the first few days. It's well worth it though. My stomach started flattening out. In hindsight I always had an upset stomach but I figured it was because I was fat and could eat better. Good luck!
  17. For those that did the 1 week liquid diet prior to surgery, how much weight did you loose during that week? I'm concerned about my BMI getting too low, so I'm curious! ????. Thanks!

  19. Unfortunately we loose friends in this journey of ours. I'm NOT saying this lightly as my best friend of 15+ years and I are a bit distant right now due to the subject. Of my three closet friends she was the one I was worried about telling and I was right to worry. She doesn't ask questions about the process. My other friends wanted to know everything. You do what's right for YOU!!! Us bariatric patients KNOW this is NOT the easy way out! It is hard work! ????????????
  20. My surgery isn't until 3/5 but I've lost weight in the process. My 1X's are getting really roomy. Today I couldn't resist hitting a thrift store just to look. Well I bought some L's and XL's for $2 and $3. Just some loose fitting tops that would require layering. That's my motivation. Best wishes!
  21. Congrats! Aetna here too, my approval took a week, but still sooner than I thought. I started calling Aetna every two days to keep up with the status, making sure my file was moving. Best wishes to all in this year of the new US!
  22. I'm a March 5th-er too!
