In my packet of info from the hospital it actually says "you may feel you are on an emotional Rollercoaster"
It will get better, right now....don't look any farther then today. One day at a time. If you actually feel hungry it may be acid in the stomach, or head hunger. We go from eating whatever whenever to not eating at all. It's really hard, but let me tell you....it's worth it. You are going to be amazed at how good your going to feel. It was my 3rd week out when I noticed I felt pretty darn good. Pain subsided, started a little excercise. Then I hit the dreaded 3 week stall and got really down on myself. With the words of others I realised this was just time my body needed to play catch up. I'm 20 weeks out and down 80pounds. I feel like a new person, and soon you will too.
Just get through one day at a time (it's all that wacky stuff going on inside our bodies that makes up weepy)

When it comes to certain flavors, I'm planning on SF puddings mixed in with my Protein shakes. A great example is a vanilla Protein shake base with a TBSP of SF Cheesecake pudding, and whatever Torani SF Syrup matches the flavors I'm craving. I'm a little under two weeks post-op, and I'm adding SF English Toffee to my shake for the evening (I keep late hours), and it's really hit it on the nose for the flavors I was looking for. I'm not up to the puddings yet (require puree stage first), but the syrups have been great. That said, I suggest BariatricFoodie or Eggface's blogs, as both of them have a great array of dessert type treats that are WLS friendly!
Sadly, I can't offer you any help on the Coke or Beer front, as I've never been a big drinker of either, and don't miss soda or alcohol at all. I'm sure one of the more seasoned vets will chime in soon.
Edit: Kate's also got a great point, in that WLS friendly mug cakes are a fantastic option. They were my go to pre-op, because I didn't want to load down with junk, but I still loved my sweets.

I know EXACTLY how you feel, I decided to not tell my inlaws and if they found out I was in the hospital I was going to say I had a hernia or something. If we could "operate on our refrigerator and stop eating AND LOOSE WEIGHT then we would. But nothing works and so we take this huge step. Be proud of yourself, tell people only of yoi think they will be supportive. Good luck!
