Stories like this keep me real. Thank you for sharing. I KNOW I am doing good, but little things are creeping in early. I used to have a pickle for the 'crunch". Now guess what? Three pickles. Not much right? Well, also my omelet at night has gone from one egg to two. I'm having a Jello that's only 10 calories, but I'm not bothering to log it.(or the pickles.) Its little things but I'm only 3 months out. What about later. I know I can't be so strict that I say "to hell with it all" but I must keep vigilant. I didn't pay 10,000 dollars out of my own pocket just to set myself up for failure ONE MORE TIME. It's all good, just keeping it honest.

Oh man.
Met this guy online. Really liked him.
He keeps texting me about various health problems he has though... And I'm thinking... Weird? Anyway I mention I have trouble with digestion. He asks me for Details so I say something vague.
He then goes- "so what your saying is you were a fatty and had your stomach stapled?"
I freeze. I'm thinking, omg how does he know! So I reply that yes, that's pretty much it.
And he's in shock. I guess he was kidding! Haha right?
So I explain most people are very shocked when I tell them because I'm so little now. They can't picture me overweight.
He replies "are they shocked by how small you are or by the inevitable revealing of your skin folds?"
I cried for 20 minutes and blocked his phone number.

My first surgery was cancelled because the surgeon was sick. When I told my bff that it was canceled, she said it was the answer to HER prayers and that it was a sign from God that I wasn't supposed to have the surgery. Needless to say I did not tell her when the surgery was rescheduled. That friendship is basically kaput now.

"But you're so young! You could have just exercised and ate less..." Yes because I should have waited another 10, 20, 30 years of unhappiness and hating life until I decided to make a change... of course! Exercise and eat less, well holy hell there's a new concept I NEVER tried before!
"You're going to gain ALL your weight back because I know 1 person who did!"

My husband became increasingly emotionally abusive over our 23 year marriage, and I ate and ate and ate. Over the last three years he turned his rage against our teen daughters as well. I ate some more. In 2013, I realized that I had to get out of my food fog and take control of my life. Not just for me but for them. I wasn't going to wait until the abuse turned physical. I began the WLS process. Six months later I was banded. Life at home got worse, but I started getting better. Three months later I moved out with my adult daughters and filed for divorce. It took the tool of WLS to put down my food. Everything else followed.
It's only just begun. But my health improving changed everything. My life is worth saving. I didn't feel that before.
Until I was able to put the food down, I couldn't change my daily existence of eating, working and sleeping, no matter how bad it got. Even when he made life hell for my kids. And I was unable to put the food down without WLS.
I'm a food addict. I will always want to reach for food when I'm stressed. I still do. But now I go to two 12-step groups (OA, CODA) and am learning to live life without excess food.
I've lost over a hundred pounds so far, kicked a dozen prescription and OTC meds, got rid of back and most knee pain, sleep through the night, am taking care of some other medical issues I was too ashamed to address before, and look forward to the future.
And I've set a good example for my daughters. Finally.

What was my moment? Life... Everyday life....

Hmmm maybe you single girls with new sleeves can work that into your E-harmony ad.
Something like:
I am searching for a lumberjack that is willing to eat anything and everything I can't eat and sometimes take it out of my hand. Also want a guy that likes a little extra skin on his chicken and his women.
Come get me big boy!
