  1. Waiting for phone to ring with surgery date. Should I go out and eat at all my favorite places as a last hooray or begin cutting back?

Are these food places disappearing any day now in some sort of Restaurant Rapture? if so, I would visit them one last time before it's too late. If not, stick to your pre-surgical plan and eat sensibly.

No! Don't do it! Stay on low cal high protein choices, drink lots of water, and practice chewing food very slowly and so it becomes a paste before swallowing it. Also practice not drinking with your food now, wait at least 30-60 mins post food. The more you practice these new habits BEFORE your surgery date, and the longer you do it, then it won't be so hard for you post-op. I dropped 29 lbs on my own pre-surgery, and post-op was a piece of cake for me once home. I already had several of the new habits in place, which helped me so much to adjust to my new normal. I've had no real dumping problems, a little diarrhea once a week or so if I tried something new that didn't agree with me. The water and the no drinking with food were the toughest habits for me to get in place but it's paying off. Get creative, read every post you can on this website, they have helped me so much. My surgery was Dec 8th and at 2 mos. post op check up yesterday I am down 41 lbs since surgery. I'm on my way. You will never regret starting new habits now as much as you can. Practice, practice, practice. And don't beat yourself up if you have a slip. We all do! I feel like the past 8 mos have been like going to Bariatric Bypass school. It is work, it is persistence, and most of all it's loving yourself enough to make the changes that will open you up to a whole new life!!
