Yes..you go into the OR completely nude. Beforehand they give you a gown and tell you to get naked, you take everything off, even your socks. Then they usually give you a pair of grippy socks to keep your feet warm and generally a blanket or two. When you go into the OR, they remove your gown and your socks after you have been put asleep, they set up the sterile field around your stomach, and then when the surgery is done, they dress you back in your gown, your socks, and these compression things that squeeze your calves so you don't get any clots. You will wake up in recovery, with a blanket over you, and once you are moved to your room, it's up to you if you feel like putting on more comfortable clothing. I ditched that hospital gown immediately, put on some pajama pants, a sports bra, and a pajama top. You're going to feel fairly miserable for a few days- may as well be comfy! Also, with all of the IV Fluid, you need to go to the bathroom a lot, so if you put on pants, you don't have to worry about flashing people everytime you get out of bed.
    Good luck!

    Good Morning,
I can not believe my revision surgery is tomorrow. I am excited but, kind of nervous. I am 47 years young but, I have 2 youngsters (12 and 6). I was very successful with the lap band until I developed an eye stroke and MGUS. Though I was told that there was no correlation between the band and these conditions, I started thinking that a foreign appliance in me was concerning. So, I had the Fluid removed from band and instantly started gaining. Also, when I tried to have Fluid placed back in back, I could never get the correct restriction.
I did not do so well on the pre op. My diet was quite liberal. Just Protein and veggies. Yesterday, I had 1 piece of chicken but, fried. And, also had a piece of cake early in the week. Other than that, not too bad.
Please send prayers up to the Big Guy upstairs!! I will post tomorrow. This time I plan to take pictures and measurements. I will post my admittance picture tomorrow morning!
    Thanks everyone!!

What the heck?! So basically, the fat, CMA came in to draw blood, for preop WLS, and told you how she is better than all of us having WLS, because she can lose weight, and keep it off, therefore setting a good example for her daughter? The words I want to say are not nice ones. I would probably tell the doc about it. She has no business working there. Zero sensitivity.

Ok, so I am in my pre-op visit, the doctor has just told me he is going to clear me for surgery and I am on cloud 9. He says the only thing I need is for the CMA to come in and draw blood for my tests. This woman comes in and she is overweight. She starts telling me that she had considered wls too, but decided she was not big enough to do something so drastic. This woman is practically prancing around the room as she is setting up the stuff to do the blood test. She starts talking about how she lost weight through diet and exercise and the tone of her voice was so superior....like she was so much better than me cause she didn't need wls. I told her I lost weight that way too....many many times. I told her it was not about losing weight it was about keeping it off. Then she starts talking about how it is all about self-discipline. How she is in control of her impulses to eat and setting a good example for her daughter. She was talking about smelling food and starting to crave...but no, she knew she had to take control of the situation and take care of herself.
I was just about to tell the b**** where to get off, but I thought about her sticking this needle in my arm so I just kept quiet. It was over pretty quickly and she left the room.
I was still overjoyed about being cleared....and she didn't mess up my mood. But had I been in a different state of mind...this could have ended very badly.

Much better! I think I have hit the "sweet spot" in this diet! No more headache, no more weariness. I actually thought I was getting sick for a few days there. But, now everything is going just fine. And, I haven't stepped on the scales yet, but I KNOW I have lost weight! The top roll under my boobs is much smaller! Had to snap my bra on the next set of hooks this morning! YAY!

    Charlotte,
My surgery is also set for the 3rd and you basically summed up EXACTLY how I feel! I am excited, yet terrified at the same time! I've been overweight/obese my entire life and, as much as I try, I cannot picture myself being at a "normal" weight. I see all these amazing transformations, and I can't seem to see myself in their position.
I have rheumatoid arthritis, and I cannot wait to get this extra weight off for some relief!! Something I want to add to my bucket list after surgery is to go to Europe and get around with ease!
Good luck with your surgery! 12 days left!!!!

I'm set for February 3rd. Optifast preop diet begins Sunday. It still doesn't seem real to me. I think I've gone the full emotional circle from being excited to terrified, ready to tell everyone, deciding not to tell anyone, fear of the what-if; fear of failure, excited about not failing again, scared of the possible pain after surgery, not being able to enjoy the foods and drinks I used to, and glad I can enjoy them but not like I used to. So I talked to my surgeon and told him I had changed my mind. He spent quite a bit of time answering my questions and assuring me I was doing the right thing for me. My husband is super supportive and we are looking forward to a life we haven't experienced yet. We were watching an ad for a cruise and the guests were snorkeling, scuba diving and dancing the night away. We both decided that was now on bucket list! What have you added to your list?

My surgery was yesterday and it went great! Pain was minimal, and everyone at the hospital is awesome. Passed the leakage test today and get ice now. I've been up walking around without much assistance and feeling way better than I thought. Thanks to everyone on here for the support.
Anyone getting ready for their procedures, take an extension cord and Chapstick. The best things ever.

YES YES YES I'd do it in a heartbeat and MY ONLY regret is not having it done sooner (I'm 53 and have been overweight since I was 13)! So much so that I don't remember ever in my life being this happy and feeling so healthy and energetic and good!
I've had a REALLY good outcome since day one. I walked 30 minutes after returning to my hospital room from my surgery and didn't feel any pain at all, only minor discomfort due to gas -- which walking helped tremendously, more than anything and I did so every 2 hours -- even at nights. I am down 73 lbs, 8 months out, am a size 10 pants (I have NEVER been a size 10 before) and loving my life.
Good luck, stay positive, stay excited and follow your doctors advises to a T. Keep us posted.

I went through the same mental agony (big time) about modifying the "original design" of my body. It's a big reason I chose sleeve over RNY (somehow I could justify it easier in my mind to not do the radical rerouting with RNY???). The way I found peace with my decision to go ahead is that my God was ok with me taking advantage of this awesome medical procedure now available that would enable me to dramatically improve my health and lifestyle for the rest of my life. For me, to be able to fulfill my spiritual purpose on this earth requires that my body and mind be healthy, and if I needed "artificial" help to do that, then so be it.
Are you clear in your mind why you only want to lose 40 pounds?
Another point you might want to think about--although there are many people who are living successfully with the LapBand, please make sure you do your exhaustive research about it vs. sleeve. There are growing numbers of people who are finding it necessary to revise their LapBands to the sleeve or RNY.
Keep talking here and you will find your answer. . .
