For me....It's about me!!! I did my research and am well aware of the decision I made for myself. If one allows their decision to be swayed by another....I don't think their decision is for nor about themself. I would think it's about pleasing others. I may be wrong, just my opinion. @@LipstickLady you make a good point.

I tried to talk to a coworker that had bypass 3 years ago. She was very negative and discouraging in her conversation. I think...No I know that the negativity stems from having gained all of her weight back. She said "if you have to do the two week liquids prior to surgery then you should be able to do it on your own." My mother, sister, and daughters are very supportive of me. 2/10/2015

My friend had the lapband. She lost a lot of weight, took her 5 yrs. Well, she had surgery for something else. Even though she advised of her lap band, for some reason, something went wrong in the operation room. Her esophogus is messed up and they had to deflate her band. She has gained half the weight back and still cannot put the band back on until her esophogus heals which is taking forever.
Because of that reason, and because there are many nurses and CNAs still not familar with the sleeve surgery and all the complications that can come with it if directions are not followed, I think the Bracelet is a good idea. Not to mention, there are many average people out of the healthcare field that are clueless when it comes to the sleeve.
I know it would suck to wear one, but the idea is a proactive one.

Hey guys I saw a thread from 2011 that I wanted to continue. I love all of my vsgers but as we know african american women tend to carry weight differently. I would love to follow you ladies on your journey and for us all to support each other.
I was sleeved on September 5th so I'm a week out. I'm doing good so far and feeling better everyday. I stayed at the hospital 3 days mostly because they discovered my allergy to morphine while I was on the pump with a fever and my entire body on fire. But I'm home now and much better. I was just moved to the full liquids stage so I'm pretty happy considering that the liquids stage made me nauseous. I've lost 24 lbs since my surgery so any pain I have is over shadowed by my joy.

I AM DONE WITH ALL OF MY PREREQUISITES AND APPROVED BY INSURANCE. I AM HAVING MY SURGERY WITH DR. DAVID KIM OF KIM BARIATRIC INSTITUTE IN COLLEYVILLE, TX. I DON'T KNOW MY SURGERY DATE YET BECAUSE I GOT APPROVED THURSDAY AND WAITING FOR DR'S OFFICE TO CALL WITH SURGERY DATE. I AM HOPING FOR EARLY FEBRUARY SO I CAN BUY ME A CUTE OUTFIT FOR MY 52ND BIRTHDAY IN MARCH. NOTHING MUCH DUE TO I WILL STILL BE LOSING AFTER THAT BUT JUST THE IDEA OF BEING ON MY NEW WEIGHT LOSS ADVENTURE.

I am done with all insurance prerequisites. Drs office called today to say submitting for authorization. Once they get authorization I will get surgery date. Now I'm excited and nervous. How long does that usually take.....BCBSTX.
