  1. It's little help now, but there's no reason you can't have all of those (in smaller quantity) at your next birthday, and the steak and pizza can be daily starting in just a few short months if you want it to be.
  2. As soon as the death-nausea went away, I had no doubts whatsoever. Even with the death-nausea, I didn't regret it, just wanted to escape it.
  3. Phone, old navy credit card (seriously, get one, or one to some other store that gives clothing as the 'reward.' Buying a new wardrobe every couple of months is godawfully expensive otherwise), gas x, pillow, and something emotionally comforting (bear, blanket, etc).
  4. @@Sharon1964, YAHOO!
  5. Something different most every day. Yesterday was a handful of cashews, today was kimchee, 1/8 cup of rice and a fried egg.
  6. @, I was 415 in February, I am 235 this morning, and I had the sleeve. If you like, I can email you the graphic organizer I made for myself comparing the 4 most popular surgeries, the pros/cons, costs, risks, etc that helped me make my decision.
  7. OKCupid Part 5
  8. Not in the least, and as someone who owns goats and makes my own cheese, it's a big part of my diet. The catch is that it can be easy to 'miss' the calories as dairy is often liquid or semi-liquid, so some find that it slows their loss, but that's not (usually) something inherent in dairy so much as they up their caloric intake unawares.
  9. @@BigTink2LilTink, thanks - and yeah, it's a bit much to pour through. The blog here: gaywifeconfusinglife might be more digestible.
  10. @@reree6898, thanks for the mention! And yep, BariDelicious I love eggface, melting mama, beauty and the sleeve, I also love the vlogger ClusieL on youtube.
  11. I've gotta be honest, when I read the title of your post I thought you were referring to these. That said, I have not, but am eager to hear what you think
  12. @@BigTink2LilTink, thank you. I appreciate your support, but please also read this entry and the entirety of the thread before offering advice. Not upset, just an honest expression of my needs.
  13. Dumb therapist (she's actually incredible, but hey) encouraging me to look into match.com...
  14. I was a teacher when I had Sx and am now, 10 months out, a principal. No one really noticed, or if they did they focused on their own shame-spiral of "I wish I had control like you" rather than on "why the change?" If you want some specific strategies I can definitely help - one that was incredible was to address the bane that is the teachers' lounge head-on. "Hey folks, you know how there are always donuts, cakes, etc in the lounge? I'm trying to eat healthier, so I'm going to start bringing in proteins/veggies instead." All of a sudden everyone was on board and it doubled as folks assuming my lunch was so small because I'd 'eaten healthy' on my prep
  15. The pain wasn't too bad, just stay on top of the nausea.
  16. @@Inner Surfer Girl, I am not, but thank you. I often envy those who are - though this is not an option for me at the moment. And yes, I can wait/have time... but I've always been a planner, so day-to-day feels hellish (after all, I planned for 14 years to marry Mrs. Smye at 19
  17. Water, laptop, a comfy chair/recliner, ANTINAUSEA MEDS, broth, collagen for broth, crystal light, blankets, movies. The first week or so can be rough, depending on how gassy/nauseous you get. Oh, and good walking shoes!
  18. @@NewReinforcers, glad to help and congratulations on your process! Keep me posted on your process!
  19. @@blkndeckher, just keep up posted and congratulations by the way!
  20. Yes, yes, and yes and it absolutely works. I've lost 175 in 10 months with little change to my activity level or which foods I eat, just a volume reduction and massive hormonal shift. The reason I opted to finally have Sx was that all the longitudinal research on 'fit but fat' was that at most you've got 10 years with the BMI I had before even with my diet and exercise the fat starts to seriously tear you up. Pre-op I was walking 5-8 miles/day, raising 85% of my own calories and not eating anything junky, I also got a lot of junk-advice from nutritionists who actually were giving GREAT advice for someone who eats standard american but terrible for someone with a healthy diet. Which led to my blog here - check it out, I think you'll find it helpful and I'd love to swap ideas.
  21. Well I've gone and done it - I've taken this thread and turned it into a blog - GayWifeConfusingLife. Here's a recent posting: As many of you know, Mrs. Smye and I have built our life together around our farmstead. We both work demanding jobs and find enormous joy in caring for our goats, ducks, chickens, and produce every afternoon and weekend - it's the stuff life is made of. The only catch is it's also expensive. Repairs to the fence, extra feed when the snows come, the cost of watering the garden, soil alteration, and simply the mortgage required to sustain a large enough property and our home take a financial toll. But we're alright - together we make ends meet and our combined income is enough to get us by. For now, well, we're still together. But at some point we won't be. I don't want to give up this life. Neither does she, but unless we can both find partners who A. are the loves of our lives, B. are willing to move way out in the woods and C. make bookoo bucks, that's not really an option. It feels petty, especially with all of the other fears, insecurities, and pain surrounding this whole situation, but I'm also scared of losing my home, my goats, my food sources, my lifestyle. I don't want to go back to an apartment, or the city, or anything other than where I am. This is the first place I've allowed myself to put down roots. Damn it.
  22. @, glad to share. And congrats on your upcoming surgery!
  23. @, have you seen the blog? It's got pictures galore, the Twitter will have more soon. Any photos or recipes in particular you are looking for?
  24. So apparently I have a Twitter now... I'll be posting experiments, plans, thoughts, and ideas here WAY before they're blog-ready. Want to know what's coming or submit your own ideas? Follow me: @BariDelicious
