    sleeve leakages

I was checked after surgery while I was still out. No barium for me.
  2. Eggs are cheap and easy when you're eating in. Cottage cheese too. I know you need more variety but they are good for the mushy phase and easy to find .

    Incision tape removal

I was told to leave them alone and let them fall off.

What to take to the hospital

I didn't stay overnight. I took my favorite slippers, chap stick, toothbrush and toothpaste, , phone and charger, and Gas-x. And of course loose clothes to wear home.
  5. I was on liquids for three weeks following my surgery , and hungry the entire time. As difficult as it was being hungry all the time, I was happy that there was no nausea. The hunger went away after I started soft foods, now I only feel hunger occasionally. I was on liquids for three weeks following my surgery , and hungry the entire time. 6. I was nervous about the surgery too, it seems to be a normal reaction. But the recovery was surprisingly easy and I haven't he any complications from having the sleeve. There was an adjustment starting with the pre-op diet and adjusting continued after the surgery. New way of eating and all. But I'm very happy that I had the surgery, no regrets whatsoever.

    Ladies! Pain Levels post-op

My c-section was much worse than my sleeve. Sleeve wasn't nearly as painful, I still needed pain meds for about a week but never had the pain I had with my c-section. Plus, getting up and moving around was easier with the sleeve. Trying to get all the fluids and protein in the first week or so was my challenge , but the sleeve recovery was surprisingly easy.

    Protein options

I can only tolerate the premier chocolate ready made shakes.

    how many nights ?

I had surgery at noon and left to go home at 7:30 that evening. No problems and didn't need to spend the night in the hospital .

    6 days post op

I was sleeved in January . My first week was tough, I wanted real food and I had a hard time getting the fluids in. I wanted a sandwich, lol. At 3 weeks I was able to have soft foods , life got better. Now I eat protein and I don't miss the other unhealthy foods. It really is a process that starts with the liquids and by the time you reach solid foods, you don't miss the high calorie foods.

    Travelling 3 months out

I disagree with the appetizer. Most items on the appetizer menu are starchy fried fatty foods. Yummy of course but unless it's a shrimp cocktail or something along those lines, it's hard to eat healthy from appetizers. The kids menus are overlooked because most people think thy only have selection like Mac and cheese and hamburgers. Some are that way, but there are many restraunts that have grilled chicken breasts and vegetables on their kid menus. It's hard to go to dinner and find small healthy portions.

Yes, test out foods beforehand. You won't be able to eat much. I sometimes order off the kids menu if the restaurant allows and there is something other than chicken nuggets on the menu. Soup also doesn't seem so obvious to how little you can eat . Or if you and your friends are up to it, you can share plates. Portions are usually so large anyway.

I have a Bullet. It's works well and has individual containers. Plus , it's super easy to clean.

    Husband

My husband didn't want me to have the surgery at first, but he was still supportive. It's been 6 weeks since my surgery and now he's happy with my decision to have the surgery. I'm losing weight and I'm off my meds. It's all been a good experience . But he wasn't positive before the surgery, he thought it was too extreme.

    Starting to get nervous!

My first week after surgery , I was instructed to sip lots of water. I liked the small bottles of water so that i could carry it around with me, take it to bed and also I ws ble to keep up with the amount I ws drinking. I was also allowed clear broth the first week and protein shakes . The second and third week I was on what they called full liquids, which was liquid soups or any liquid with no lumps in it. Also, I bought the GasX strips, took those whenever needed. My dr didn't want me taking any pills during the first week so I bought a pill crusher to have on hand. I crushed my pill and mixed it in with a small amount of crystal light to drink. Since you're not eating immediately after surgery, there's not a lot you need to shop for.

    Still insulin dependent?!

Also, as you lose weight, your blood sugar should go down. Especially when you start feeling better and excercise.

    Already?

Same thing happened to me a week after surgery. Then I started losing again, then I hit another week long stall. It's frustrating but the weight will come off.
  20. My husband did question my decision for surgery. He was afraid for my health and the nature of the surgery scared him . He kept saying I could lose the weight with diet. But now that he can see the results from the surgery , he thinks it's a good thing I had the surgery.

    Recovering from Surgery

I did need pain meds, but it was minimal pain. It felt sore , I didn't have nausea which was one of my concerns. I was pleasantly surprised how easy the recovery was. The gas was the worst part and getting liquids and protein in the first week.
  22. Do the surgery for yourself. I'm sure in time he will come around and understand your decision to have the surgery. Maybe you will even inspire him to lose some weight with you. Who knows, but you can't let his issues alter your plans. Good luck!!

    Ideas for crushed meds?

I crushed my meds and mixed them into a small amout of crystal light.
  24. Hospital gown in the hospital. I took my flannel pajama pants and loose top, all very comfy. Also, some slippers good for walking that are non slip .

    Surgery on 2/23 and sick

I'm sure you will be fine if your surgery is 5 days away. You can always call your surgeon's office and explain what's going on. That might make you feel more relaxed. Good luck!
