  1. I work in an office and have to dress nice also. I'm planning on going back and wearing leggings as much as possible lol. I've been off for 3 weeks and my daily outfit is either leggings or PJ pants. If your work allows, I'd suggest leggings if you have tunics or dresses to wear with them.
  2. I've been on the liquid diet for 2 weeks now and I've experienced weakness. My energy is great and I'll get up and do yard work or work around the house and after about an hour or so, I'm exhausted. I think it's normal since we're taking in such fewer calories.
  3. Hi all, I'm two weeks out from surgery today. I've been on a liquid diet for 3 weeks now (including the week prior to surgery) and I don't see my surgeon for my post op appointment until this Friday the 24th. I'm supposed to be on the liquid diet until I see my surgeon on Friday, which will put me at almost 4 weeks on a liquid diet. I.am.so.sick.of.liquids. I'm at a point where I feel like I'm going to give in and eat something I shouldn't. So tonight I bought some low fat cottage cheese and cream of chicken and mushroom soup. I haven't been given the go ahead to eat soft foods but if I didn't have something different, I was going to go crazy. I only ate about 1/4 cup of cottage cheese (if that) and about 4 ounces of the cream of chicken soup. Not feeling sick or anything so I'm guessing I can tolerate these two items. I feel kind of bad about having these prior to seeing the dietician and surgeon but eating these is better than eating something else that we shouldn't have right? I feel fine! Actually I feel great because I had something different.

    Memory loss anyone?

I am 2 weeks out from surgery today and experience this. I started having thinking problems and memory problems within a couple days of surgery. Its not so bad that I feel I need to call my doc about it but I'll let him know when I see him this Friday for my post op. I take sublingual b12 everyday, biotin, multivitamin and calcium citrate. I haven't been getting in as much protein as I prob should but it's been difficult to drink the shakes since surgery.

    5 days post-op

Hi @, I am 6 days out from surgery. As far as I know, eating this soon could disrupt the staple lines of our new stomachs from the material my surgeon has provided me and would cause emergency surgery. I don't necessarily feel tired of the liquids, but I never feel full. Do you feel full at all? Are you getting any hunger pains? Sorry to detour from your original question, just wondering if anyone else is having hunger pains so soon and not feeling full.

    Very scared.. Right decision?

Hi, I have the same fears. My surgery was just on Monday the 6th so I can't say much yet as to what I'm like post surgery because I still feel like me. you have the same fears that I did/have. The only thing I keep telling myself is to take things one day at a time. Honestly after surgery I haven't even thought much about what I'll be like in a few months because I've been so focused on trying to get my liquids in and still in a lot of pain so I'd bet after surgery you'd prob be doing the same thing. I would highly suggest getting the surgery because in a few months well be so thankful that we did. Right before mine I was absolutely terrified that I wasn't going to wake up from surgery. A lot of my fear was just of the unknown such as how I'll feel after, what I'll be eating and drinking and what I'm going to look like. Now that surgery is done, I'm not thinking Of all that so much as just trying to take care of myself now. Please don't give in and cancel your surgery. Think of all the hard work you've put in over the last year and how great you'll be feeling in a few months.
  7. I just got home today from having surgery Monday. I didn't have a feeding tube (never heard of that?) or a drain. They put a catheter in after I was put to sleep and I had it in for a whole day. They also inserted a ventilator but that was put in and taken out while I was asleep. I had a pain pump with dilaudid, morphine didn't give me any relief whatsoever. The second day though they took away the pain pump and only gave me liquid lortab.
  8. @@Tamika I hope you have a speedy recovery!

    Any April 7th RNY?!?

Mine is April 6!!! So excited and nervous at the same time!
  10. Congrats on your surgery!!! Sounds like we could be twins!! I'm 26, never had any major surgeries, or comorbidities either. My pain all comes from my back and joints too haha have you noticed any of you joint and back pain subsiding? It may be too early to tell I suppose. That's what I'm looking forward to though.

    Birth control post op

Nuva ring!! I've had mine for probably 5 years or more. It's inserted in the vagina and left there for 3 weeks, then you take it out for one and have a period and then put a new one in at the end of the week. Or I actually leave mine in for 4 weeks and insert a new one at 4 weeks and skip my period. Its wonderful! I don't have to remember to take a pill and don't have to have anything implanted in my arm, though I have though about it. I don't feel my Nuva ring and my boyfriend says it doesn't bother him when we're together. I had an IUD in the past and my body rejected it after a month and I ended up with PID(pelvic inflammatory disease). I recommend the Nuva ring to everyone and it's covered by insurance (has to be because of the health care law).
  12. Oh awesome!! Thank you all for replying! That's making me feel better about my trip and I can't wait now! Just hoping that I don't have any complications with my surgery that will prolong the healing process
  13. Hi everyone, I have been planning a small vacation over the last few month's for June 18-22. I called my surgeons office the other day to get an estimated time for surgery and they said it looks like it's going to be the last week in April. If so, that's going to put me about 6-7 weeks out from surgery when I go on vacation. Has anyone else traveled this soon out from surgery or sooner? I'm not worried about temptation but more concerned about dehydration as I will be outside for 2 full days as well as concerned about not getting enough to eat. I will be able to carry water with me and will hopefully be able to carry baby food in my purse to eat throughout the day when nothing else may be available. I also plan on taking protein shakes with me. Anyone else go though this that may have advice?

    Pre op blues

Hi Tia, thanks so much for responding. Thats a great idea. I don't know if I've been approved. My surgeons office said they will submit to my insurance for approval closer to my surgery date but I don't even know when that is. I'm thinking about calling and seeing if they have a date already just so I can have some information and can prepare and also prepare my work for it.

    Pre op blues

I would also like to hear if any one has any words of wisdom for preop blues. I've been down and very frustrated for the last couple weeks. I completed all my prerequisites at the beginning of February and surgery was tentatively March but it was 3 weeks before I heard from my doctors office and they called to tell me they are scheduling all of April and in to the first 2 weeks of May. I asked them too about when they will submit to the insurance for approval and they said not until closer to my surgery date but I have no idea when that is or when they will submit. I'm just very frustrated living this way and I'm trying to stay focused on eating right and exercising in the mean time but it's hard. Any advice appreciated.
