Cleo's Mom I also had to have cardio clearence. I am 52. No problem They did 2 on me , b/c I could not walk on treadmill bad back. I drove myself and had no problems. I am scared also. I am being banded 8-28 in KY. I am having a friend to take me for banding. I live 3 hours away and they want me there a day early to cross and match blood. I come home the day of banding in late afternoon. She wil help if I need help while my DH is at work. The pain meds may make you feel funny. Kathy

Hi Jean, I too am going to Georgetown, Jen called me last week and told me I am approved. I am waiting for them to call and set my 2nd appointment up which at that time I wil get surgery date. Kathy

I went to aseminar last fall. In December I went for checkup with doctor I have seen for 10 years. That was initial visit then I had to go Jan. Feb, March, April, May and June before they could send paper work to Humana. In the April May month I went for cardio clearence and pulimanary test also. I went Feb. 29 for my 1st all day appointment. There was dietician. check up and psy evaluation that day. You do not see the suegeon til you are approved, The 2nd day appointment and then surgery date. I am being banded Dr. Oldham/Weiss at Georgetown, KY Kathy

I am a public school employee and have Humana. I just got approved yesterday for lapband. One initial visit( check up) and 6 months weigh in and talk about diet. B/C of age, I also had to have cardiac clearence, which I had done after month 4. Once Georgetown sent in paper work I knew within 3 days. I am waiting for surgery date Kathy

Twinmommie, I live in Owensboro also. I am in the 5th month of Humana. Hoping for a end of June surgery date. It will be summer break Kathy

Hi everyone this board is sooo interersting. I will be 52 next month and need to lose about 65 lbs. My medical dr is supportive and is making my appointments for surgeon tomorrow. My insurance is known for paying for band and bypass, so I do not forsee any problems. My concern is what I will eat after surgery, I travel alot on weekends. My other concern is of course it scares me to death, but I want to feel and be healthy. I am blessed with a wonderful healthy husband of 29 years and two great sons and a new daughter-in law. I want to continue to have a good healthy quality of life, so I think this is my best bet. I have always been overweight all my life, but as you age it gets harder to feel good and be healthy w/ 65 extra lbs. This board is goin to be so resourceful. The info, discussion, before and after pics are inspiraational Keep it coming Kathy
