Just chew, chew, chew until it's pureed consistency. I know I was allowed pureed or soft meats in the soft food phase. I usually don't advise going against your specific surgeons orders, but no meat seems odd to me. Usually the soft food phase is nothing but meat and fish (as long as it's pureed and/or VERY soft.

I am 3 weeks post op today, also. I don't think any of us have this eating thing down perfect (or we wouldn't need bariatric surgery), but I try to tell myself that I need to take extra good care of this new stomach of mine while it's healing. I know that this is the stomach I have for the rest of my life, and how I treat it while it's healing will determine if it's my best friend or worst enemy for the rest of my life. I have been dying for some meat. It's getting harder and harder to resist...went to a get-together Sunday, really had to struggle to keep my hand out of the chips. Good luck to you, hang in there.

Just thought I'd share. I am a wife and mother of 3, including two-year old twins. I definitely consider my superwoman because I do it all, husband or not. Anywho, I had the Sleeve 5/6/15, discharged 5/8/15.
    5/6/15 - Surgery who? I felt great.
5/7/15 - Why the fudge did I have this surgery? I felt horrible and did have gas pains.
    5/8/15 - Okay, I can do this.
Normally an overnight stay is needed but my blood pressure was extremely high (was not high pre-op). I took 5 days off from work. During those 5 days, I have taken care of the kids, cooked dinner almost daily, cleaned my house, laundry, etc. (NO LIFTING). The only regret is that I went grocery shopping, alone. But, I'm the type that just can't sit down and wait for others to do something for me. Ah well.
Day one I had zero problems scarfing down a sugar-free Popsicle and drank about 1/8th of an Isopure. Day 2, attempted optisource and threw it up. I think it was just too thick. Day 3 I probably got down 30g of Protein from Isopure. Day 4+, I easily get my required 60g of Protein. I can eat 1/2 - 3/4 of an egg. Today, my first day of Soup, I had 3/4 of a cup (it was heavenly). The only time I remember that I had surgery is when I get full. It's a weird. While eating an egg, I was like, what is wrong with me; then I realized, oh, I'm full, put the fork down. I will forever hold on to that feeling of eating that egg. Today is day 9 and I'm down 19lbs. SW 275, current 256, 5'10". I am now putting my scale away until I'm 30 days out.
Just thought I'd share for anyone who may be having doubts or questions. I get tired more quickly now but otherwise, I feel great. Can't wait to get some good workouts in.

I'm going thru a very similar situation. Mom of 3 and married for 10 years. He claims that he will not be attracted to me if my skin starts to sag. I think it's just a BS of an excuse. I've gone back and forth for years and decided that I'm gonna do it for me. You could not be attracted to me next week and leave for all I know. So yes, be selfish and think about you for once. As a fulltime corporate worker, grad student, wife, and mother, I've put everything ahead of my own needs and wants. If you are not happy and complete then everything else crumbles. I'm scheduled 5/6/15 and if he leaves me then goodbye!

I have to use powder since premades aren't available in my part of the world. If I make one with about 1 cup skim milk it takes about 45 min or maybe a little longer to finish it. I'm 1 week post-op today.

For the record, my nutritionist has urged me since pre-op to eat (as I can tolerate them) veggies / fruits and whole grains:
    1. First, eat all my Protein
    2. Then if there's more room add healthy (colored) veggies
    3. Then when there's even more room add some fruit
    4. Then when there's more room add whole grains
My strong suggestion would be to enjoy your veggies, but please don't drop your Protein. Our bodies need protein every single day to repair our body organs. If you don't eat protein, your body will "eat" your own muscles to get the protein it needs to keep your lungs, heart, etc. all working well.
    Best wishes to you.

I was out 5 work days. I had my surgery on a Wednesday. Discharged from the hospital on Thursday. I went back to work the following Wednesday. I honestly think getting up and moving around as soon as I could can AND as often as I could greatly improved my recovery time.

Not annoyed or blowing you off. I answered you several times.
You are given Protein goals to help heal your body and help you lose effectively. If you think it's best to do otherwise for whatever reason, that's your personal decision. Repeating myself for a fourth or fifth time makes little sense, don't you agree?

    chocolate Peanut Butter Bars
8 scoops chocolate Protein powder (I use Wheytech Pro 24 Rich Chocolate by Bodytech found at The Vitamin Shoppe or on Amazon)
    1 cup old fashioned oatmeal
1/3 cup PB2 (3 TBS powder mixed with approx 1.5 TBS Water adjust to make into nice PB paste)
    3 TBS Honey
½ cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
    1/3 cup crushed peanuts
    Directions
    1. Mix together the Protein Powder, oatmeal, Peanut Butter, honey and milk.
    2. Form into 12 bars and then roll in the crushed peanuts to finish.
    3. Place in the fridge for about 30-45 mins or until solid (tastes better if overnight) also best to keep in fridge until ready to eat
    18 grams Protein
It is pretty hard to mix and will seem like it is too dry.. you have to use elbow grease to get it mixed well… rolling in the peanuts doesn’t work that great so you will need to press the nuts into the bars. They are really chewy, but great snack!
The scoops that are in the powder that I use are pretty large.. if yours has small scoops you may have to double it....
For all the ones below, just chop everything in food processor with the almond milk and lime juice if required for recipe...
    Peanut/Date Bars
    1 cup dry roasted peanuts
    1 cup chopped dates
    9 scoops vanilla Protein Powder
    ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
    3-4 Tbsp. lime juice
That is it! Makes 12 bars just like other recipe… This one has 20 grams protein...
    Key Lime bars
    1 ½ cups pistachios chopped
    8 scoops vanilla protein powder
    ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
    3-4 Tbsp. key lime juice
Zest from limes – I did it from 2
    1 cup chopped dates
½ cup finely chopped pistachios for outer layer of bars after shaped
    Makes 12 bars - 19 grams protein
This one I am going to make this weekend… Won’t know how it tastes until Sunday…
    Vanilla Apricot Bars
1 cup dry roasted peanuts chopped
    1 cup chopped dried apricots
8-9 scoops vanilla protein powder (don’t know how many I need yet for right texture..)
    ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
    Makes 12 bars
I think that is it.. 20 grams protein
So far the ones with dates in them are a bit sticky.. but VERY tasty!!

    Morning.
OMG....why are you drinking OJ and Juices .......................LOADS OF SUGAR...........Sugar turns to Fat !!!
This is a definately NO-NO, and was told during the Pre-Surgery Stages.
Right now you should only be drinking liquids (no red liquids). You are in the healing process of your surgery. You shouldn't even be eatting a banana.
    Weeks 1-2 = liquids ONLY
    Weeks 3-6 = Soft Mushy/Pureed Foods (no nuts/seeds)
Weeks 7-12m = Introduce foods one at a time (very slowly) Try to avoid nuts/seeds if possible.
Stay Away from Cookies, CRACKERS, CAKE (Carbs are not really healthy, the turn into surgar which, again, turns into fat).
Eat Slowly. You should take a bite of food, and put your utensil down, wait about 30sec to 1 minute and then take another bite.
Your stomach is healing and takes a good 6 months to completely heal. Drink lots of Water, if able to do so. Drink slowly and DO NOT gulp.
Also, remember you have a BABY tummy. You need to think how you would feed a newborn baby. This is how you will be eatting.
Relax, Breathe, and enjoy your new self.
    Have a Sparkling Day !!!

The gas will subside only when u push it out. Walk walk walk. It will move. The first couple weeks are rough. I didn't hurt. Nor was I sick throwing up. I just felt really weak. Mal nourished. I struggled (still struggle) with getting my fluids and Protein in. I am 4 months out and I'm down 53 pounds. I have been in a stall for a few weeks ???? but I'm not worried I know it will start moving again. I started my surgery at 275. Don't worry with your numbers the 1st couple months. You will go nuts. I am just now to the point where I stopped weighing EVERYDAY. BC it drove me crazy not to. I feel better tho and that's the main thing. From a size 22 to a 16. Still lots to go. But just now picking up the exercise routine. As I needed to lose 50 pounds 1st to relieve some stress on my knees. Good luck to U and can't wait to see your progress!
