So this is my latest update, I know I haven't done one in a long time. The picture of me overweight sadly is not even me at my highest (301lbs) , the other one is last night. Sorry classic mirror picture but that's all I can do when I'm by myself and my aunts want updates.

She is clearly not a nice person. But I'm concerned that her son is a "momma's boy" who didn't defend you or support you with her. In the long run that would be a huge red flag. As you slim down and reach your goals, I hope you will meet a man who will honor, love, respect, and defend you, and whose family will do the same. Life is too short to have it any other way.

I really wouldn't worry about it. At all.
Don't lower your own polite standards, and if she's not willing to accept you, accept it and take the moral high ground. Be polite and nice to her. You're going out with her son, not her.
And besides just think, its you and your bf who'll decide what crappy care home she ends up in.... start planning

Here's my advice.... Lose weight. It's what you want for yourself anyway and it will shut her the hell up. In the meantime you either have to ignore her insulting comments or tell her woman to woman that you don't appreciate the things she says to you or your boyfriend about your wls.

@ meowmers : please don't take this the wrong way, but I learned many years ago that the people that really matter are the ones that give back, love, respect, care, etc., and it's not always going to be your family, in all honesty you are never going to be good enough for her son, she has already made her judgement on who and what you are, it doesn't matter if your white, black, skinny, fat, she will always find fault with you, at least you know this sooner than later, this like many other things is very important to your health and longevity, if you love this gentleman you will need to lay boundaries as to you and his mother, you do what you have to do and count your blessings that you have such a wonderful family, I had a very hard childhood, but I took the positives and left out the abuse and treat my family as such, I am a Hispanic and I was very obese when I met my wife, she was my complete opposite, blonde, blue eyes, slim, beautiful, and she and me just had that magic, and the bonus, she is originally from South Africa and her whole family has taught me what real family is, her mom and dad love me as their own, and my sister in law Even sent part of the money I needed for the surgery from the UK, go for it, do what you have to do , bitter, miserable people ironically cant do it without others!!!!!

    @@meggriffin12
many, many people have hiccups for awhile PO (or they sneeze)
when i used to get the hiccups, i was approaching being full, or was already full
its a good guideline at the beginning
but later (still), i just stop when i knew i had completed my small "ration" so i wouldn't overdue eating
    my doc told me pre-op
"eat til you are full, but stop 2 bites earlier"
    good luck on your journey

LisaPunkinHead got a reaction from Para-thighs Lost in NSV....I DID IT!
Great job!! I have done 2 half marathons. You are right where you need to be training-wise. Every two weeks, add a mile to your weekly long run. Your last long run should be TWO weeks before your half. Back off training for about five days before the half -- do one or two easy runs and then maybe a walk a day or two before. The concept of carb loading doesn't apply to a half marathon, but still eat well the day before (no junk and nothing new). Keep hydrated. If it's hot, there are tablets you can put in your Water that will add electrolytes.
Keep your pace even on race day -- don't start out too fast. Stay at a slow pace, even if everyone else is passing you up. You need to conserve that energy for the whole thing!!
And no putting yourself down about "jogging" versus "running." It's all the same thing. You are a runner!!!

I made it 10.5 Miles today & ran 2 of my fastest miles. I have never ran that far in my entire life. I signed up for my first half marathon on Labor Day. If any one has any tips I'd love it.

I don't really care why we aren't supposed to have it. My doctor and my NUT said don't do it..... So I'm not going to do it. They are the professionals and I trust them. As for energy, get sublingual B12 liquid 5000 mcg. It works for me

LisaPunkinHead reacted to CowgirlJane in Epic NSV - even all these years out it was boost
Some of you know me well as I have been around a long time... but for back story I was pretty hopeless about losing weight and especially maintaining it when I began this sleeve journey. I had "failed" with the lapband in an epic way and by the time I revised to the sleeve I was well over 300# (although down from my lifetime recorded high of 332# while banded). I was super morbidly obese and spent a lot of years there. I felt aged beyond my years and besides feeling physically miserable, I was certainly NOT an object of attention from the opposite gender. Hell, i never even had a chubby chaser interested in me.
(I did have a serious relationship, I have never been a loner, but my point is I have always been one to focus on intelligence and personality, not looks or body)
Because of my active lifestyle, I have mostly had slender friends even when I was obese. I never went out for girls night with them, never went dancing, I felt like I didn't belong in those settings. So, after losing a bunch of weight, I had plastics and am now maintaining. I social with lots of people now and feel like i fit in many places, but am still sometimes surprised at my own preconceived notions.
Currently, I am about 5# over my goal and about 25# over my lowest weight - I am 3.5 years post sleeve so this is frankly pretty typical. It can get a little discouraging as I am having a heck of a time re-losing this weight. I am fine at my current size, but i was finer thinner haha... so it is still something I want. You know how your state of mind is when your favorite jeans are too tight.... that is where i am!
    Okay, now my NSV Story!
I went out to the racetrack on the 3rd for a big girls day of races and fireworks. I went with 3 very attractive ladies who are all naturally very trim. They range from tiny cute as a pixie (Which also makes her look really young) to that tall blond skinny model look (two of those, one fairly boyish looking the other more curvy - both very very attractive). Anyway, all 4 of us are unloading the cooler, doing stuff getting ready to go in. I was applying sunscreen. this really really really attractive man - probably about 40 (we are all about 50) walks by and looks right at me and smiles and says "need any help with that?". All of us freeze as it processes... he is talking to ME! What? I smiled at him as he walked away (it was only later I thought I should have said "YES") and one of the ladies said "this is going to be a good day".
I don't spend alot of time comparing myself to others, I really don't. But after a lifetime of obesity, super morbid obesity - you never expect to be the one in your group of attractive friends to get the notice.
Looks don't actually matter that much - one of the ironies i have learned in this journey, but it still felt good and my friends were all very happy for me too... That also makes me feel good that they are so pleased with my successes.

It's actually 100% up to you. Sure, you will lose some in the beginning no matter what you do because of your restriction, Protein requirements, etc. but it would be very easy to not reach goal and easier yet to gain it ALL back if you don't make healthy choices and lifestyle changes forever.
That being said, I lost over 100% of my excess weight and have so far kept it all off for 10 months and counting. I could NEVER had done this without surgery. (Believe me I tried). But yes, it is all about my choices at this point and very little about the sleeve.

I am four months out and haven't lost any. Only thing I can attribute it to is that I have made sure I get a minimum of 60 grams, and usually closer to 80 grams, of Protein per day. Maybe I've just been lucky so far....

Speaking as an actual recovering addict, I say this. Know what you are medicating. If you can't honestly look yourself in the eye and say that you are doing it for the pain, don't do it.
The problem with addiction is that in many people it is a sleepy little monster. Once it wakes up, you got problems. Mindfulness and awareness are keys to staying safe. If you start chasing that delightful relaxed feeling, stop.
Transfer addiction is real and can set in quickly. Most of us had an addiction to food. Once we can no longer have food, it is extremely easy to subconsciously find another way to feed our addiction. I'm not saying that this is true for everyone but there have been plenty of documented cases.
I'm sure some people will say that I'm over-reacting, and that's fine. I just know from my own personal life experience and years of actually studying addiction that these things can happen.
